Disney Gift Cards - Where DON'T They Work?

I am going to purchase Disney gift cards from Target to save 5% with the Target Red Card. I was wondering, though, is there ANYWHERE on Disney property that will NOT accept Disney gift cards? Is there ANYTHING that they cannot purchase? I would like to know before I go crazy buying out my local Target! I'm especially interested in hearing about how they work at Downtown Disney. For example, I'm sure we will hit up Ghirardelli at some point, but they aren't Disney-branded - they're just on Disney property. If anyone could enlighten me, that would be fab! Thanks!

Last time we were there the only thing I know for sure was the carts. They were unable to process them. Not sure about other places.

Charge to the room and they are good for anything. Just apply them after the charges. We did a few every few days. Some carts are cash only or cannot take a room charge.

I think most carts can take them -- I used them at several carts in April. I know there are some outside food vendors on the Boardwalk that do not accept Disney gift cards/room charges/dining plans.

I would bet Ghiradellis's does...I believe Starbucks does...hopefully someone will come along and confirm!

I would love to know this info too. I had this idea, but never thought of using the 5% off at Target, so thank you, Kate! Can you use them for tips or drinks at Epcot? Any info on if you can use them for F&W? And realistically, how much $ do you buy for a trip? I'll be on a family trip, but my boyfriend and I will be paying for our stuff on our own. He needs a little more convincing on the upside of this.

For our April 2014 trip I used these exclusively for our dining. I came up w/a daily budget and carried that amount with me and put the rest in the safe in the room. We purchased food from QS, the food court, snack carts, DTD (including Earl of Sandwich and snack shacks). In previous trips I have paid for TS meals with them (I tipped in cash). I did not have a card linked to my room for charging...so everything was paid via gift card. We also bought souveniers with them.

Can you pay ddp tips with gift cards? Maybe by charging to room and then paying off with gc?

You may want to call Ghirardelli; the store in DCA will NOT take Disney Gift Cards.

Yes, I had the Dining Plan paid for. I had one place, The Pepper Market that used my gift card and paid for the whole meal. It took over 30 minutes for the manager to straighten it out. They could not put the money back on a gift card, they had to put it back on my credit card, they could not give me cash back either.

So be very specific in telling them how you are paying for your TS meal, let them bring the receipt back and then give them your gift card for the tip receipt. It will take extra time.
