I would love to get my boys a gift card for christmas to use when we go to Disney World in February. Of course I can't get one shipped to Canada and know no one in the US to ship them to us. I did locate some on ebay and was wondering if anyone has ever tried to buy one from ebay and then add funds to it (however it is done) from Canada?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks :)

I don't know if I'd trust getting a gift card from EBay. They also warn against buying WDW park tickets from e bay also.

You will have no way of knowing if the $ amount they say is on the card really is until you arrive at the parks.

Thanks for the reply :) The cards i've seen on ebay are listed as collectibles with no cash value so I am hoping that if I buy them I can just add funds to them afterwards...

Hmmm .... very interested in how this works. If you bought a zero value card and added money to it online .... would be a good way to ride the wave of currency fluctuations!

Having been an eBay user for YEARS, I would never ever get any kind of gift card online from someone you don't know, on a website where you will get no support or back up if you get frauded.

Look for one elsewhere.

I think the OP was looking for a no value card, so the risk would be minor.

I agree with not trusting anyone on ebay that was selling an value gift card (other than zero)

Perhaps someone going this year can pick up a blank card or two and mail them once they are back in Canada.

Perhaps - but do you still need to purchase these $0 cards or are they "free". If they cost $$ - where is the savings?

My sister is going down in 2 weeks. If the cards are "free" I'll ask her to bring some home.

Did you ask if you can add funds to the gift cards from Canada? If you can't purchase GCs from Canada, I don't know if you could add funds from Canada?

One idea, if you do get blank Gift Cards, you could just say what value you will put on it when you get to WDW- You could write on envelope good for $xzy and load them when you arrive.

I'll be there in a week or so, and would be able to pick up some blank ones, if they let you just take blank ones. I'm not sure if they do.

You can PM me if you want me to try.

Just an FYI...

We booked our trip through CAA, and when I was there picking up our ticket package, they had a display stand with Disney stuff on it.

There were quite a few gift cards hanging on the display that you could load there at CAA.

So check your local CAA office!

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I will definitely check with our local AMA/CAA office...

And thanks Sue M, I just may take you up on your kind offer :)

Not sure if this will help you out, but the survey site for Quick Rewards offers Disney Gift Cards as one of the forms of re-imbursement you can select as payment for completing surveys, etc. They will mail the g.c.s to Canada.

You all just gave me an idea to save my by reloading my gift card anytime, so I looked into it. You can't do it on line.

Where can I reload my Disney Gift Card?
Disney Gift Cards can be reloaded at any Disney location that sells Disney Gift Cards. Online reloads are not available at this time.

Where in Alberta are you from? I leave in 6 days and could arrange something with you if you wanted. I am from Edmonton so maybe that would work.

The 0$ cards are by the cash registers in almost every shop. A friend of mine takes them for her scrapbooks. To my knowledge no one has ever challenged her or said she can't take one.

Have any of you in Canada loaded gift cards using the 800 #? This thread got me thinking and I looked through my things and found a GC with 38 cents left on it. It might be a good way to save up my spending money for my next trip and not be tempted to dip into it. The closest disnet store is over an hour away from me so it won't be very convenient to have to go all the way there to add to my GC

I think there's a difference. They sell GC in the Canadian Disney stores but I think you can only use them in the Disney Stores. Disney Gift Cards in the states can be used either in the store or at any of the parks. I think it's a US currency vs CAD currency issue. I have the US gift card and just need to load it. I think that's why the OP-er wants a US gift card too. So you can use them at the parks.
