I'm stocking up on disney cards for my upcoming trip, mostly to pay for our meals. Just wondering once I arrive, is it possible to attach the cards to my Magic Band and then have a credit card on file if we spend over the gift card amount? Or can we just put a credit card on the magic band but then use the giftcards at checkout to cover the charges incurred? Or is there another way to handle this? Just trying to avoid having to keep track of a bunch of gift cards during the trip.

Just use your MB and go to the front desk and have the GC applied to your account the day before you check out. You can do this as many times as you like, you don't have to wait til the last day. I went to the front desk every other day or so to get an itemized list of charges as they were having a difficult time making sure things were on the correct account. My mom's band was linked to her card and my family's bands were linked to mine. They always took care of it but I felt better staying on top of it myself.

Some CMs know how to add GCs to your room folio at check in but not all of them. You can leave a CC on file and then go about charging back to your room that way. Just don't wait until check out to settle up. Disney will charge the CC on file just after midnight on the morning of your check out. You will want to stop in at the lobby concierge to apply those GCs to your account before then!

You will also want to keep tabs of your spending if you plan to make a lot of room charges. Disney will make charge your CC when your spending reaches the limit for your resort level ($500/$1000/$1500 - value/moderate/deluxe). You will want to put your GCs into your account before that happens. Some CMs will be able to add additional GCs to the account at that time, so that you have a credit. It will depend on the CM that you get.
