Which store is the better buy? 2Xs or more fuel rewards or 5% off with target debit card?

If he Kroger reward is at 2x then it's a wash for me. Here is how I figure it...if I spend $500 on gift cards at Kroger that will get me a $1.00 off a gallon of gas for one fill-up. I drive an expedition and my tank when near empty will take around 25 gallons. So I save $25 at Kroger on gas and if I spent $500 at Target and got 5% off it would be $25 also. It's a wash.

But Kroger once a quarter has all gift cards at 4x the rewards so I only need to spend $250 on gift cards to get my $1 off gas and then it's a much better deal. They just had this 4x reward and I think it ended on 4/11 so I would expect them to do it again sometime this summer in June or July. If you can wait until then it's a better deal at Kroger.

Also, if you car has a smaller gas tank than mine you're probably better off at Target. Sorry! Forgot to include this in my post above!

Don't forget if you have the 5% award certificate (RX reward or red card reward) you can use that on top of the 5% you get back with the red card.

We figured it out and went with Kroger. Then we both fill up together when we are one E, so that is 35 gallons, the max you can get. so saves us 35 vs 25 at target, but it is pretty close.

Anyone else concerned about losing these cards?? Feeling quite vulnerable with them. Suggestions?? I have them in my Disney packing box right now, wondering if it would be safer to put them on my KTTW when we get there.

I was wondering the same thing. We are celebrating the kids birthdays there, so will have a bunch of gift cards. Can you put them on your KTTW card? I would much rather do that then carry around a bunch of gift cards.

Kroger is by far the better deal for us.
We do the double fill also, using around 30 gallons each fillup.
Right now, grocery is 5x points on Chase Freedom, so I charge gift cards at Kroger, get double points for fuel, and 5% cash back from Chase.

Plus, Kroger is a 1/2 mile away, Target is 17 miles away.

For me I'd go Kroger as I need gas to get places so am buying it anyway. plus Target is a rare vist for me and I pass at least 3 Kroger stations getting to Target.

Don't forget that on Tuesday, Kroger takes off an additional 2% for those of us over the age of 55.

No you cannot put them on your KTTW card but you can pay your balance after checkout or when your max is reached. Since the gift cards are like cash, they won't apply them to a 0 balance to give the guest a credit balance. Hope that makes sense!

Starting tomorrow at GIANT EAGLE is double fuel perks which equates to 17% off a 100 gift card if you pay with your CHASE FREEDOM REWARDS card else it is 12% starting tomorrow. Not sure how long it lasts but seems to be thru Mothers day for double perks and thru end of June fdor chase bonus....

Is this a new policy? I put $500 worth of gift cards on my KTTW card last August. I was planning to do the same thing again.

The last time we bought gift cards, I was worried about having to carry so many around.
I was able to call the 800 # on the cards and shift all card balances to one gift card.
Took a little while, but no problems doing it.
So unless they have changed their policy, you should be able to combine your cards.

For me, Target because I stack the 5% RedCard discount with the 5% Pharmacy Rewards discount. Plus, my gas tank doesn't hold enough to make the Kroger gas discount worth that much.

No Kroger around here but we do have Food for Less which is owned by Kroger. Does anyone know if the same deal is there? I know they have a gas station....

The store is about 5 mins further then my normal grocery store, but if I can save money on gas as well, might be worth a trip

Normally, these offers are good at all stores in the Kroger family...

It depends on the CM. last year when we checked in the CM put our gift cards on our KTTW card. Later in the trip we went done to put another $500 and that CM wouldn't do it. She said they aren't supposed to.

I ended up talking her in to it though. Sugar and spice and all that good stuff. ;)
