Is there a trick to entering Disney gift cards as payment on the DCL website? I select the drop down menu for Disney gift card, enter the 16 digit number (no space for PIN) and it just tells me I must enter a valid card number. Is it broken or am I missing something? I've also tried adding the PIN onto the end and that didn't work either.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't paid with gift cards directly but I have entered them into a disney savings account and then made payment over the phone with that. Sorry not more helpful but it might be a good work-around for you.

have you checked to see if the gift card was activated correctly? you can do that on the disney gift card site.

Thanks. Yes, it's active and registered on the gift card site so I know it's good.

I imagine I can just call and give them the info over the phone, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having the option on the DCL site.

for such a large company, disney's various websites are prone to be buggy. wait a few hours and try again later. if it still doesn't work tomorrow, then yeah, give 'em a call.

good luck!

DCL website dislikes certain gift cards based on the first 4 numbers you enter. I tested this last weekend with over 30 gc's and had to transfer half the balances at Disney's gc site. I will say if it starts with 6109 you are essentially out of luck as it will not accept it.:badpc:

Glad I was able to do mine with my travel agent then, I had many more than 30 and all of them started with 6109.

My TA had to call and make the gift card payments by phone. They system wouldn't allow her to enter them in.

i highly recommend doing what @Bella29 does and signing up for a disney savings account. you can easily enter all your gift cards in there, and then call DSA when it comes time to make a payment for DCL. the advantage of doing this is for every $1,000 you spend via the DSA, they'll send you a $20 disney gift card. a saving of 2% for your trip.

yes, you would have to make a phone call, but i imagine eventually the DCL website might even allow you to do this directly online (if such an option doesn't exist already).

Twice now I have had the same problem, gift cards not working on website. Had to call dcl to apply them. The second time I called it was obvious it is a common problem because the agent had a whole series of scripted troubleshooting questions, including browser version to give to Disney IT.

Yeah, mine start with either 6109 or 6115. I guess I will suck it up and call. :thanks:

So wait, let me get this right if I can... I go to Sam's Club and pay $142.97 for $150.00 in gift cards and then I apply them to a DSA and then I an pay my DCL trip from there and they'll give me $20.00 back for every $1000.00 I spend? Is that correct? Cause if so it's a no brainer!! And can the DSA only be used for the trip, or can you have money in there to spend on your trip?

I did this very thing but found out I wouldn't be getting the extra $20 because the money has to be left in the account for a certain amount of time.

You can add funds from your DSA as stateroom credit to be used for excursions/tips/shopping/drinks/bingo/photos or whatever else you can change to your room. Just call the same DCL number you would call to pay for the trip itself. In the unlikely ( :-) ) event that there is money left on the account after the cruise, it will be refunded to your DSA.

correct. the account has to have been opened for 120 days before you spend that first $1,000 for you to earn that $20 gift card.

and you can use the DSA at DCL, Disneyland, WDW, Aulani, and other Disney properties. Not Disney Store though, and you cannot use it to pay DVC dues.

Definitely call. DCL site acts like it'll accept gift cards but it really won't! Just call in and read off all the numbers of go the route the pps suggested!

I applied for my gift card from my DVA, probably about 4 weeks ago - my account was open for 6 months prior to spending the balance on my cruise. I haven't heard anything, no email, nothing. Is that normal? We're leaving in 37 days, wondering if I need to call and check on things? I know it says 4-6 weeks for the card to arrive via mail...

I could be mistaken but I think you have to request the cards

The FAQ does say:
Request your Disney Gift Card(s) 4 to 6 weeks in advance of your vacation date to allow time for delivery to your mailing address.

Yup, that's what I did.... submitted my request - but I haven't received any feedback at all - at the very least an email would have been nice that my request has been received and is being reviewed. I guess I'll give them a call in the morning.
