Disney gift cards at Target...very large hassle

what is the pharmacy rewards?

For every 5 prescriptions you get filled at Target pharmacy (whether or not you have a Recard), you get a 5% discount card good for one day of shopping. If you do have a Redcard, it stacks with the Pharmacy rewards so you can get 2 5% discounts (but when they stack, it's more like 9.75% because the 2nd 5% is off the subtotal after the 1st 5% is deducted).

It's worth mentioning that some states forbid earning rewards on prescriptions, and I don't think you can get them if you are on Medicaid or other govt-paid insurance.

I saw in my Target ad last week that if you join the Pharmacy Rewards this month, you get your first 5% discount after just filling one prescription.

I wish I could have used a Target pharmacy reward but my insurance company requires us to use mail order for any maintenance meds we take and other than my migraine medicine which is mail order, it takes a long time for us to get 5 prescriptions filled.

Went today and had same issue with debit card. Tried to buy 20 cards:) but they wouldn't allow because it is a pretty new card. When I called the 800 number they said they usually limit to about $300 until you have a long history because they don't know what is available in the account when they accept. They did give me the 5% anyway and I just used my bank card so all is good:)

Have you checked into how much just a one month generic prescription of your medicine would be without the insurance coverage.

Our insurance only allows us to use two different chain retailers to fill our Rxs for coverage. I looked up my birth control on Target's website and I saw that I could get my month refill for $9. That is more than I normally pay without coverage at $4.xx for 3 months but since they are having the special this month for new pharmacy rewards customers I'm willing to pay it. I did a one month only refill and will get a 5% to stack with my red card discount and will pay off our package saving way more than the extra $8 I spent on the refill.

They have a long list of $4 and $9 generics on their website that you can get without any insurance coverage. It may be worth it to check out.

I haven't thought about this but I think I will check. Thanks for the tip!

This is important for people to know. The main reason they make you build a history is because they don't know how much is in your account. It is not a real debit card. That is why you can only use it at Target. It is an electronic check card. If you've ever written a check where they run it through a machine and hand it back to you, that is how the Target "debit" card works.

I think you hear about more problems with it here. People read about the discont on Disney gift cards, open an account, and try to buy a whole bunch. Once you do have a history, there isn't a problem.

RX Rewards is not available in all states. I know it is not available in NY.

Does anybody know... Can you use your disney Visa at the Disney store to buy gift cards and still get the percentage off?
If you buy Disney GCs at a Disney Store and you use your Disney Visa to make the purchase, you will pay the face value of the GC. There is no percentage off of the GCs at Disney Stores.

However, you will get your 1%-2% in Disney Rewards Dollars on your credit card statement.

I LOVE my target card. I've been following the coupons and every week I try to get one of their deals that involves a target gift card. Plus I've also accumulated at least one giftcard from shopkicks and real close to getting my second.. So I've been accumulating these target gc's for the day I go in and purchase all my disney gc's along with my target 5%. Don't know if I should just buy a few at a time and try to get more deals... For example should I buy two and use the $50 I've saved or use that $50 to buy 10. We hardly ever get prescriptions so I don't think I could get the pharmacy rewards.

And you have checked the Terms of Service to make sure you can use the Target giftcards to purchase Disney giftcards? I know some stores do not allow the purchase of giftcards with store giftcards.

Disney gift cards are listed in Targets inventory system as "entertainment cards" and as such are treated as any other merchandise. I have never had any problem with using Target Giftcards to purchase a Disney Gift Card/Entertainment Card.

You only get the 5% Redcard discount on amounts that are paid with your Target Redcard (credit or debit). So if you want to save the 5%, you need to use the giftcards for other Target purchases and use your Redcard for the Disney giftcards.

For example, if you have $50 in purchases and use your Redcard, you save $2.50. But if you have $10 in Target giftcards, those come off first, so you only save the 5% on the $40 you pay with your Redcard, so just $2.

I believe that new enrollees in pharmacy rewards for the month of July only needed to have one prescription filled to get the discount.

I had a bit of "luck" a few months ago-- we all had eye infections and since we couldn't share medication, I ended up filling 3 prescriptions in a matter of days, which gave me the pharmacy rewards. Since we're (knock-on-wood) normally not ones to get a lot of prescriptions, I took that and my red card to Target the next day and bought 50 $50 cards in anticipation of the trip.

I just had my TA apply them to my account yesterday, which I thought would be a pain, but actually, scratching off the back seal was not all that difficult-- took maybe 20 minutes to give her all the numbers.-- definitely worth the $250 savings!

While that makes perfect sense and is what I expected that hasn't been the case for me when buying them online.

I have been using $25 Target giftcards that I have earned from Swagbucks and paying the remainder with my Target Red Debit card. It has been breaking down like this, $50 Disney giftcard~ $47.50 with the redcard minus $25 Target gift card equals me paying $22.50 with free shipping when ordered online with the red card.

Not sure if it is a fluke but I have bought 4 $50 giftcards online like this on separate occasions or if it would work in store but...........

Interesting. Must be an online glitch. I am looking at a Target receipt where I redeemed a $5 gc from a recent in-store deal and it looks like this:

subtotal: $80.32
Redcard savings: $3.77
Giftcard payment: $5.00

The $3.77 savings is 5% of $75.32 (subtotal-5.00 gc).

I guess if I were going to use Target gc to buy Disney gc, I'd do it online!
