Can you get gift cards for Disney shopping area and add on to them? We are thinking of doing that so each kid can shop with their own money. Like we planned to get the gift cards $30 each for Build A Dino. So, it would be on item paid in advance. But like a Disney one, we would love to add on to it each month. So, like at Valentines Day start at $20, on Easter add another $20, is this possible? I rather let them have fun in August and not buy alot of junk for the holidays and put that money towards fun shopping for later.

Yes you can!!! It is great too. I did this for last trip. Each of my kids had $50 on their gift cards. I actually had one too and the money that was on to pay for all of our tips. I ended up with $30 balance on my card which I will use the next time we go.

Yep, I got a gift card at the disney store and everytime I go to the mall I put $10 on it. I go about 1-2 times a month and we leave in December so that will be our spending money for souvies etc. Great way to save and budget ahead of time. Works like a charm.

On a related note, is there any benefit of Disney Dollars over a Disney GC and vice versa? We got a ton of DD's for Christmas and had been planning on buying more. Seems a GC would be tons easier to deal with...

Gift cards are easier to deal with, but other than that, there's no difference. I think the disney dollars are accepted everywhere, just like the card. You could take your Disney dollars to Guest Relations and put the amount on a gift card, if you would like.

The card is nice because you get your balance on your receipt and you don't have to fumble with change or signing anything. I was at the F&W Festival last year and Disney was selling mini-gift cards on a wristband! It was the best! I bought two, and am now saving them for alll my trips. So convenient! :cool1: They were such a hit, I can't imagine they won't start selling them all the time. I would be interested if anyone has seen them during non-F&W times?? I'll try to post a picture if anyone is interested.

Oh I am so happy to start this new savings for my kid. Maybe I need one for myself too :rotfl2: I would love to see these mini gift cards. That sounds so cool! I really want to go to Disney with just the bare mininum in my hands.

Is there anywhere online you can order the disney dollars? I live close to the parks, but not close to a disney store....would be good for my son to have as spending $$, and not having cash get lost, or worry about coins in his pocket!! Thanks

Actually, it's just the same as cash. If you lose a DD it's the same as losing a dollar. And you get change back in normal cash, so ultimately you just wind up with coins and change, just like if you used normal money.

DDs are cute, though!

Since I don't live close enough to a Disney Store to buy giftcards there, we just put our budgeted money into a savings account, and before our trip we take out the cash, and as soon as we get to the parks we buy giftcards to use. It's better for us than using cash or debit/credit cards for everything. I'd just rather earn some interest on that money instead of letting Disney earn that interest!

When you're home, if you don't use all of the giftcard, you can use the card on disneyshopping dot com, which I find to be awfully convenient. :)

Here is the gift card...

I would love to know where to get either the Disney Dollars or Gift Cards online as well. Our DD is turning 4 in a few weeks and getting her a gift card for her trip is a great idea.

I'd like to know where I can get either th disney dollars or disney card onine as well for my DD's upcoming birthday.

Reading more about reloading gift cards and got this info:

Where can I reload my Disney Gift Card?
Disney Gift Cards can be reloaded at most locations that sell Disney Gift Cards. DisneyShopping.com cannot reload Disney Gift Cards or DisneyShopping.com Online Gift Cards at this time.

Hmmm... there is no Disney store in my area. Darn it.. I really wanted to do it online with like $20 this month, $25 next month, etc......

OP, I also heard you can't use the Disney gift card for the Build-a-dino, since it's not a Disney owned shop. Just FYI since you mentioned you wanted to do that.

I bought this card at Guest Relations at Epcot during the Food & Wine Festival. I went to the park with my regular gift cards from the Disney Store and when I saw these, I liked them so much better!! I bought two of these cards, paying for them with my original Disney Store gift cards.

I think its the first time they've offered the wristlets. Most of the CMs hadn't even seen them before. I'm hoping they offer them all the time. It was so convenient. My husband and I have our designated duties while at Disney... I remember the cameras, the sunscreen, the Photopass. He's in charge of the cash, and I'm usually bugging him to buy me a soda or a snack. I really liked having my money on my wrist!!

You can also get them at the grocery stores. Mine has them with the other gift cards.
