Received a Disney Gift card as a birthday present. The information that came with it indicates that this can be used at participating locations throughout Walt Disney World.

Can anyone tell me where this can be used @ WDW?

Also, if I exceed the gift card amount, does it allow me to pay the difference or is it like some Visa gift cards that if you exceed the amount by even 1 penney, it declines the whole thing?

Can you add funds to this card or is it a one time use card?

The card is accepted everywhere credit cards and room keys are accepted, with the advent of the Dining Plan that means pretty much everywhere, even snack carts.

If you exceed the limit you may pay the difference in cash.

You can load the card with more money.

The new universal Disney gift cards (universal meaning all Disney venues - it has nothing to do with the rival theme parks in Orlando!) can be used almost everywhere on WDW property that has a card reader. Restaurants and eateries, gift shops, entertainment venues, arcades - just about anywhere. In addition, the gift card is good at Disney Stores nationwide, at DisneyShopping.com, and at the Disneyland resort.

The card works just like a WalMart reloadable gift card. You can add money to it at any time, spend the entire balance (and make up any difference in your total with cash), and if it is lost, it can be canceled and replaced so you don't lose your money (you must have the original purchase reciept to do this, so save those reciepts!)

About the only thing you cannot use the cards for at the moment is paying resort bills. The WDW resort front desks are not yet all tied into the gift card computer system; when they are, which is expected to be by the end of 2006, you will be able to use the gift cards at the front desk to pay your resort bill or enable room charging.

It's a great innovation that us WDW fans have been clamoring for for years!

Thank you for the info.

Can you add funds to the card online or just at a store or park?

Can these gift cards be purchased at a Disney Store?

Yup, they sure can - that's where I got mine and where I add money to it. They should be in stock at the register of every Disney Store (although a few have run out). I think the minimum load on them is $5.

Thank you very much. :)
We are taking a teen for his 1st ever visit, and I think a gift card will be better then giving him money. This way he has only one thing to take out, so no dropping any bills.

You could also get him one of these:

97 cents from any WalMart.

Also remember that if you are staying on-site at a WDW resort, you can have his room key enabled for room charging. You can set the spending limit and get a printout of every charge.

so if I cash out on my points for webcerticates and them order disney gift cards online, then I can use these at restraunts and gift shops?
