I have purchased gift cards for years at Sams club to pay for park tickets, DVC dues, and Dining Plans. Recently the quality of the cards appears to be declining. When I peel the sticker off the account number it pulls the backing off the card and destroys the account number. The first couple I contacted Disney Gift card, sent them pictures of the damage and copies of the sales receipt. They quickly sent an ecard to replace it. The latest damaged card, they have refused to replace it. They say I can use it on a cruise or in the parks. I cannot use it to order tickets or pay dues. It means I am out $500 until I go on a trip. Has anyone else had problems or solutions? My grandson said I should stay at DVC and go to Universal (he loves coaster).

I am also interested if someone knows a different way to get discounts for tickets.

I had a problem with one gift card when paying my annual dues last month and couldn't read a few digits. I ended up creating a spreadsheet with all of the possible combinations of digits and entering each possibility into the payment site until the number was accepted.

I did discover (after peeling off the sticker and not being able to read the numbers) that the gift card said to scratch rather than peel. For the next cards I used a coin to scratch off the stickers, which did allow me to read the numbers.

^THIS^

Disney cardboard gc are SCRATCH ONLY. No shortcut peeling those. Personally I’ve found a dime to be my favorite for scratching the stuff off.
I will have to find a dime and try that, Ive been using a credit card and now my Chase freedom card edge is peeling up

Is it possible to go to a Disney store (local mall ones) and buy another GC with the current? I’m assuming no
I have a Disney merchant gift card that can only be used at merchandise shop so even if you could buy a gift card at a Disney Store, it may not work for maintenance fees.

On back of the Disney Merchandise Credit card, it specifically states that it can't be used to purchase a Disney Gift Card.

So, why have you continued peeling when you know that it destroys the card number?

I understand the OP has a regular Disney gift card (not a Merchandise gift card or a credit card).

I'm not aware of any Credit Card that restricts the purchase of gift cards.

I'm having the same trouble. I didn't peel the card, the envelope was glued shut in a way that it pulled the back area (including the numbers) off the back of the card when I opened it. They keep telling me I can use it in the parks as is, but I bought it to buy tickets in advance. I want to use the card online, not wait until I get to the parks. I'd never buy $500 worth of stuff in the parks during the trip.

I'm about to send them another email. It's not my fault the envelope was glued shut improperly. I've been going back and forth with them since December.

Are all the gift cards from Disney cardboard now? I just bought one at Walmart that was cardboard, but I could have sworn the ones in HEB were still plastic. If Disney's only putting out cardboard ones now, I'm going to run over to HEB and buy out their plastic gift cards!

I’ve purchased plastic ones from Home Depot. Our Target has the cardboard ones.

Ive seen plenty of plastic around lately. I assumed it was old stock. But recently Ive gotten plastic at Home Depot, Target and Office Depot

Just had the same thing happen. It was 3 numbers that weren’t totally legible. I got a magnifying glass, wrote down every possibility and started entering all the numbers into the DVC dues website. After about 10 try’s, I hit on the right combination.

My reply was specifically about the merchandise credit you have and not anything to do with the OP.

Neither the OP or I referred to a credit card.

M comment was regarding the Disney merchant gift card can only be used at merchandise shops. In my experience it can't even be used for food, lodging, or other non-merchandise that is Disney related.
