Disney GC at Sam's Club (using Sam's GC as partial payment)

Today I was turned down for purchasing a Disney Gift Card with Sam's Gift cards. Was wanting to use (2) $25 Sam's GC toward a $500 Disney GC. The balance would go on my Citi card. Was told this was not allowed. Asked if it was new bc I've been buying Disney GC using Sam's GC since 2012 MANY times and never had and issue. Not once. She said it's always been like this. That she has worked there 14 yrs. I told her that I've been using Sam's Gift Card's (earned on Swagbucks) to buy Disney Gift cards since 2012. She said "well someone may have allowed it but it's not allowed". I guess I've had many *someones* bc this is new to me. Purchased many times Sam's online and applied GC no problem as well.

most stores won’t let you buy 3rd party gift cards with store gift cards any longer. Gift cards are ripe targets for credit card fraud and it can be a form of money laundering that is very hard to unwind.

Yep. Know and understand the reason but Sam's has been one place where it's been OK and not just by me (many times since 2012). Either this is new for Sam's or I've just been super lucky at getting cashiers who bypass the system (or whatever) for the past 12 years. Just curious what others experiences have been recently at Sam's. BTW... It's not a huge thing for me bc today I just went 5mins down the road to Target and bought my Disney Gift Cards using my Target Red (Circle) Card at 5% off which is similar to or better than the Sam's discount. Sam's loss is Target's win!

I guess I have! I've done it at the cashiers and several times even at the Customer Service Desk.... With like 10 Sam's GC to apply to the purchase!! The only thing I ever worried about was that I was being a pain in the neck (them having to scan all those bar codes). Until today I had no idea it "wasn't allowed" because no one had ever batted an eye or looked at me sideways. It's all good bc honestly Target is an easier transaction and I get basically the same discount (Sam's is 3% when u buy $500 + my 2% with my cc)
