DISNEY Frozen Fun LIVE at HS Starting July 5 UPDATED

I had to rearrange my park days for this, we will be going 8/31. My kids FREAKED! I hope this is extended too, I have friends going later this fall who will also love it!
Great move Disney!

Personally I'd like to see HS abandon the movie studio copycat theme that Disney adopted the day they heard Universal was coming to town and come up with something that combines Pixar, Lucas, Muppets, Disney Jr. and Disney Animation Studios. I still have more faith in the Star Wars properties than you do (at least I like the chances of the Episode VII-IX releases creating more excitement than the Avatar sequels). But it's academic until Disney shows they have something in mind anyway. :darth::chewy::ewok::yoda:

Uh oh...you said the "U" word. But I completely agree with you. I don't personally get the Frozen hysteria but then again I am not a six year old. Our friends kids love it and can recite the movie word for word. Needless to say, I give them crap all the time about Frozen (bet you didn't see that coming). I wish they would capitalize on Wall E, The Incredibles or even Tangled. I find those movies much more enjoyable.

But hey, as long as they don't do that rumored Frozen overlay in Maelstrom then all is good.

Agree. And it's not that I don't have confidence in SW. But Disney only has one chance to re-make DHS and I look at it using this formula:

a=percentage of people (in whole numbers) who are absolute fanatics about a franchise.
b=percentage of people who are not big fans but will ride the rides if they are well done.
c=percentage of people who have no interest in a franchise and would avoid it.
SW=Star Wars
DA=Disney Animation

Which is larger?
(SWa+SWb)-(SWc) or
(DAa+DAb)-(DAc)

With Disney Animation, "c" is virtually non-existant. Elsewise, why would those people spend all that money on a Disney vacation. No polarization whatsoever. Both totals would be high. But Pixar and Frozen and other post-1990 animation would be higher. Hey! In a perfect world, we'd get both. But I'm not holding my breath.

Fair enough. I'm certainly not in the camp of building a Star Wars gate.

I left out that ideally I would include Marvel in the mix at HS but I don't think Disney can get it back. :charac4:

Absolutely. Marvel would be a huge "get" and I don't discount the possibility of a "sit down" with Universal for a cash deal to get them back. When people talk about box office take for SW, HP and Avatar, people overlook the totality of the Marvel franchise. Iron Man. Thor. Captain America. Avengers. These are huge. Disney may never get Spiderman, but the rest would be worth buying back.

I so hope that "frozen pond" is available for guests to use as well and not just demonstrations. Doubtful, but I can hope. I'd pack my skates in a heartbeat!!!

We are trying to find that out as well.

My daughter was one of the figure skaters at Bryant Park in NY during the Frozen Sing-a-long on Good Morning America - she's on the Skyliners Synchronized Skating team. We were joking that she could bring her skates and Frozen skating outfit to give her own demonstrations on the ice. Maybe that could supplement the cost of the trip for me! :cool1:

haha! If only! Hey I have an Anna dress and up to date PSA and USFSA memberships, I'd be down to coach some frozen fans! Or ya know, show off and feel pretty. That too. :rolleyes1

We can dream, right?

Can they just get gracie to do her let it go from stars on ice? I'll move in. Seriously I will live in Frozen land just to be at a disney rink haha!

ps; that's amazing for your daughter! I really wanted to pursue shows after high school but my parents did not allow it. I did synchro as a kid, didn't stick with it though and did just singles (right at the lovely chicago wide switch from isi to usfs and my tests are still all wonky and out of place from it.. really need to finish those.. of course post puberty multi rotational jumps just don't come as easily!!) but have a friend who did and skates for Chicago Jazz.

The scary thing to me is that I understood every single thing you posted here. Non-skaters will think we are speaking Klingon. I play hockey, so this was a new language/world to me as well.

I seriously was done with "Let It Go" having listened to her sing and skate to it for almost a week straight getting ready for the show. I have kind of warmed back up to it again. Her theme for her competitive season was a Hercules medley - her coaches love Disney!

My daughter's team was Eastern Sectional Champs last year at the pre-juv level - but they weren't nationals eligible as per USFSA rules. This year she made the Juvie team that was National Champs last year - skating to Aladdin. I know they compete against the Chicago Jazz at Nationals.

As for the rotationals, she just started landing her axel this week. My wife and I kid about how much it cost us for her land that jump!

Good stuff.

I am so happy about this. Every time Disney posts about a special event it was either wrong dates or funding.

Well we will be here for this. Kids especially my little girl will love this.

Don't know how the fireworks will work as I see it at 945 with a park closing at 930 and Fantasmic! at 10

How nice for fans of Frozen...I am not one of them, but it's nice to see them adding stuff. However, if this somehow causes Star wars Land to not happen...

THE BEATINGS WILL NOW COMMENCE!

I will be there on the 5th as well! This is actually our last day at the parks... Can't wait! I don't even mind moving things around!

Just did the same---- changed our Ak day and DHS days around--- along with our ADRs and FPs--- not going to is this - will be there July 6th!

Hmmmmm. I got shouted down for suggesting that Pixar and Disney animation IP might be a higher and better use than a massive investment in Star Wars and now this! I sense that the park planners are wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth about diving in to SW with both feet and have decided to test the waters by introducing less complex, less expensive entertainment based on Disney features to see how that will impact DHS. Trust me folks. Frozen, Cars, The Incredibles, Wall-E, Monsters Inc. et al. will move the meter just as much as SW. Different crowd, but a crowd nevertheless.

I totally agree!!

The 5th is also our last park day. We have FPPs booked for MK (and can't rearrange unless we are willing to give up 7dmt), so we may only end up going over for the fireworks. I am still waiting on word about when the song-along(s) will happen.

Also what time are fireworks last week in August when the park closes at 9 and Fantasmic is at 8:30?

With the exception of 8/27, the park closes at 9:30 the whole last week of August, and there are Fantasmic! shows at 8:30 and 10:00.

OK, so someone else asked, but I will again. We will be there on August 27th. The park closes at 8:00 and there is only 1 showing of F! at 8:30. Do guests just stake out a spot to sit and wait for 9:45 fireworks?

That one night is a weird exception. My guess is one of two things will happen. Either they will extend hours that day to match the rest of the week, or they will not have the show/fireworks that night - and it will show that on the schedule once this entertainment gets added.

I just don't think they would schedule a show for 1:45 after park closing. Hard to plan when you don't know, though.

While I agree a Pixar themed park would pin the needle, I don't think it needs to be at the expense of SW. Love it or hate it, it has arguably the largest and most passionate fanbase of fiction ever. A SW themed world (done right) will achieve insane results for DW (You think you'll be able to book dinner at the Cantina 179 days out?)

I think the debate here was the money and resources that were thrown at Avatar Land. A movie that has no die hard fan presence, is being thrown into the least visited park and will likely be met with a :confused3 by your average Disney patron.

Thanks! If your kid hasn't seen it, have you? I think it's a great kid's movie (I personally liked Wreck It Ralph more, as well as a few recent non Disney releases), and although I don't see the cause for the hysteria personally, I know such hysteria doesn't always correlate with my idea of greatness and if that many kids relate to it so be it.

I have, we always know to screen Disney movies before showing them to our 3 year old, so we know when to avoid murdering of parents, a Disney favorite (A topic we'd like to put off a few more years)

From the Disney website:

The ‘Frozen’ Fireworks Spectacular will be presented nightly at 9:45 p.m. through August 16 (shifting to 9:15 p.m. Aug. 17 – Sept. 1, due to earlier sunset). Please note that the ‘Frozen’ Fireworks Spectacular will not be presented on Aug. 23, when Disney’s Hollywood Studios closes at 7 p.m. to host the Villains Unleashed event.

We will be in Tampa next week for a gymnastics meet. Original plan was only to stay the 4th at the Poly for fireworks. Then I added a few days and decided we would just enjoy resort hopping and DTD, no parks. Then I decided that we would do 1 day at MK for 7dmt. Now, we have to do 2 days so we can experience all the Frozen stuff!! This trip keeps getting longer and more expensive!
