Up Next: Dinner at the Captains Grill and Jellyrolls with my Dis Bride Friends

Hi Daniella,

So nice to see you on these boards. Not sure if you remember me or not but we were married in Disney in November 2008 and our reception was also at ADH and your PJ was my bible before our wedding. I made screen prints of so much of your report and brought it to our planning session and also showed them to Misty our wedding photographer.

Anyway, so sorry to hear you have had a difficult year but hopefully things will turn around. It sounds like you had a wonderful vacation and I am looking forward to reading more. We are heading down to WDW the middle of October so I am really enjoying looking at your pictures with all the Halloween decorations. We attended MNSSHP a few years ago and hopefully we will go when we are down in October. BTW - you photos are wonderful. I am in the market for a new camera and I am very interested in yours.

I have also recently lost my job and am very interested in you being a Disney Vacation Specialist. Please tell me more about this.

Looking forward to reading more and seeing more pictures.

Linda

Hi Linda! Yes I do remember you. Thank you, it was a rough year but I can say things are definitly going to end on a good note.

The camera is a Nikon D40. I love it! There are several other models and different price ranges but this was the best deal for me, I even use it for my Sandwriting photography business. I know Best buy usually has package deals. IF you can get it before you go on your trip you will have great pictures, you can just use the automatic feature until you learn how to use the manual settings. One tip is to buy a circlular polarizer lense, its about $20 at Best Buy. I bought mine right before our trip. It makes the blue skies blue and great for outdoor pictures.

As for my new job as Disney vacatoin Specialist, I start training in Oct so by Nov I will be in full swing. It was something I was going to do on the side anyway before I lost my job. I just shopped around for a host agency and looked to see what they offered. I don't think I can list them here but you probably have heard of them before. There were a few I could join no questions asked and some others who actually interviewed me. I went with the one who interviewed me, they are well known and have been in the business for a long time. I can tell you more about it once I start doing it as to how I like it.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my report

So we headed back to take a break before dinner. We just loved haning out in our villa. It was really the first trip we spent time enjoying our accomodations. I have to say its because of the convience of the location, otherwise I think we would be running around if we were at Saratoga or Animal Kindom Villas. We haven't tried the Comtemporary but I don't like the fact part of your view is the parking lots. It just turns me off a bit.

Dinner was at 5pm (early) so we could make Fantasmic at 8pm. So we headed out and walked from our place over the the Yatch Club

This was our first time trying the Captains Grill. We were really looking forward to it. I head nothing but good reviews and that fact its not too popular so its easy to get reservations.

I love mussles so I got the New England Lager-braised Mussels appetizer but I ate it before I remembered to take pictures but it was delicous. Phil got the clam chowder and enjoyed it as well. It was ok for me. Since I grew up in Cape May by the beach, I have had much better chowder before but it wasn't bad. Again, we forgot to take a picture.

We actually remembered at dinner. We both ordered the Grilled Pork Chop - with Sautéed Fingerling Potatoes, Apples, and Bacon. It was excellent! I need to figure out how to make this for the fall with apples and potatoes. I don't usually order porkchops out and it wasn't your typical ones you get in the grocery store. It was very tastey although a little confusing when eating the apples and potatoes because they looked the same. You got a nice surprise at time because you think you are eating a potato but then its an apple.

I didn't get dessert but Phils came with one because he got the 3 course dinner so I ate his!
I think the were profiteroles filled with chocolate mouse. Very good but not being a dessert person I probably would order these.

So we failed to taking pictures on our first sitdown dinner but I can tell you I remembered for the rest of the week. We loved the Captains Grill and would definitly go back again next time. The table next too us go steaks and they looked good as well.

After dinner we walked out and it was just finishing up raining. Perfect! So we went back to the room for a break and then we decided we were going to skip Fantasmic. It was our only chance to see it tht week but we have been before so it wasn't that big of a deal. So we just hung out the rest of the night and waited for our friends to get to our place se we could all go to Jellyrolls. It was a nice relaxing day.

My friend Kerrie and her husband was at Fantasmic, and my other friend Laura lives in Orlando and was meeting at our place. They are fellow dis members and we all met because of our weddings. I was meeting Laura for the first time. She came early and we hung out and watch Illuminations from our balcony waiting for the others to get there. We had a great time talking. About 9:30 Kerrie arrived and we headed to Jellyrolls. Its always a fun place and get better the later you stay. We had a few drinks and then called it a night. Sorry I didn't bring my camera to Jellyrolls.

I better get this going again before I forget everything!

Day 3- DHS

ry%3D400

We woke up early to make rope drop at DHS. We decided to walk over from our hotel, it was a beautiful stroll that took about 10 minutes. I highly reccommend it. Of course everyone has the same plans, get there at rope drop, run(not walk) to Toy Story Mania, grab fast passes and get in line for the ride.
Everyone one waiting for rope drop:

Everyone running to Toy Story Mania!
ry%3D480

Well we did just that except the fast pass lines were so long I said quick lets jump in line and get fast passes when we get out. So that is what we did and it worked out perfect. We waited all but 10 minutes in line.

ry%3D400

Of course I am the champion of this game compared to my husband.
ry%3D400

looking upset he didnt win:

We got out, the lines died down for the fast passes so we grabbed one for later. It was perfect because we had lunch planned at the Sci Fi for 11:30am and the fast passses were for 12:30. So we then headed over the the little mermaid which was something we have not done in a long time. We then headed to The Great Movie Ride

ry%3D480

Then off to the first show of American Idol at 11am. I don't know if it was just that day but the first show wasn't that good. They didn't even have 2 contestants so i don't know if one dropped out or if it was too early. Anyway, both were not that good but it was still fun. By the time we got out it was time for lunch. We got alot done, its so worth it to get tot he parks early.

SCI FI

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

We checked in at the Sci Fi and went right in. It was the first time we got to sit in the first row of cars. We shared the car with another family who sat in front of us. It was very quiet and the air felt good because it was very hot out. Phil ordered a chicken sandwich and I got a classic cheese burger, bother were good. I love this place for lunch vs. dinner. The atmosphere is great alhtough our waiter didn't check on us often and I really needed a refil on my coke. He finally came and we were ready to go and offered to put it in a take out cup which was nice.

ry%3D400

I forgot to talk picture before we dug in to our food, sorry

ry%3D400

I will provide a cost breakdown later as I do not have the numbers on me right now.

Up next more DHS and BW pool and Cape may Cafe for dinner
