Hello All! Not sure if i'm posting in the correct place since this is my first post - so please redirect me if necessary.

I am about to book a trip in May 2011 by renting points through DVC.

i don't know if you can rent points and combine it with the free meal deal disney offers in late May. it looks like if i want that deal i have to book through disney. but then that deal only comes with moderate resorts.

so if we want wilderness resort - that deal isn't available to us. ?? i think.

besides - i'm kinda stressed out by pre-planning all our meals. even if it does save money.

i guess my question is - is it better to go through disney - get a moderate resort and the free meal plan or to rent points through dvc, stay at wildnerness and get whatever discount meal plan that comes with that?

suggestions? does what i said make sense or am i totally off?

Thanks for any help!pirate:

Hi and WELCOME to the Dis, Tons and Tons of info here.

Sorry to start you off with a bummer...If you use DVC points for a stay you do not get free dinning, but you can work with the member you are renting points from and PAY for any of the dining plans, they are however not discounted.

O.k. DVC is not eligible for the free dining. You would need to purchase either the counter service plan or the regular meal plan or you can upgrade that while staying on points. You must pay their prices (hotel and tickets) for the free dining and must stay at least 5 nights 6 days I think it is. If you want to stay value resort, you can upgrade your meal plan to the regular dining for $10 a person per day instead of staying moderate level. I hope this answers your questions.

as of tomorrow, if you book the dining plan for a DVC point stay, you will owe all of the dining cost up front. (and there is never free dining on DVC pts - you are dealing with an individual and not with disney - that is important to remember.)

most DVCers find it easier to pay as we go. the dining plan is either too restrictive or too much food. your opinion may certainly be different.
