Yippee, it's 2 months until our holiday and I'm officially getting excited :cheer2:

Have any of you taken babies with you? DD1 is coming on her first trip and I have no clue of what to expect, the last visit was an adults only trip and I never even considered which rides would be OK for toddlers, in fact we barely spent any time at MK at all

This time will be different though! What can my DD enjoy? Is there much, or will it all be too dangerous? :confused3:

We took both are DS's when they were 1 to WDW. In fact the now 9 year old took his 1st steps over by the castle. What a moment. Both their 1st rides were Dumbo. I remember doing all of Fantasyland. We ate at Chef Mickey's and they were just enthralled with the characters.

We have people ask us why we took our kids there when they were so young and that they will not remember it. The memories that my DH and I have of that time are "priceless". Enjoy your trip!!!! :goodvibes

We took my dd at 10 months. Everyone told us that it would be a waste because she wouldn't enjoy or understand it. Well, she LOVED IT! She's been going at least every year since and she's going to be five. There are PLENTY of things to do there for toddlers. Before you go, make sure you scope out the baby stations in each park. They're really cool, clean and quiet. They are good places to feed, change and get some down time. They're never really crowded. A lot of people don't even know that they're there. Also, be sure to stock up on diapers and other supplies. Buying them at the parks will COST you!

Have a good time!

You can go back to the trip planning forums and look for Disney for Families.

That section has a lot of threads specifically about babies. You may be able to look up a lot of stuff. Have a great trip.

Any ride that does not have a height restiction is okay for babies and toddlers. Just be sure to keep the little one cool and hydrated and go at her pace, take breaks for naps and cooling off, ect. My kids loved the shows and parades when they were little too. ENJOY :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the replies :)

Another question... How accepted is public nursing of a toddler? In the UK it's pretty much unheard of, I'll use the baby facilities if it's likely to cause anyone to feel uncomfortable :)

That question can cause a big debate. ;) As a nursing Mom myself, I would/do BF my child pretty much where ever I wanted, even in WDW. The facilities might be cooler and quieter if your little one is easily distracted. Or I have read that some rides/shows are good to BF on. But if you are comfortable, find a bench and nurse away. :)

I've never bf in public at wdw, but I have many other places (malls, etc). I would say your biggest problem will be the distraction for your child and result in a lot of popping on and off. I would think finding a place either at the baby stations or in a show would probably be easier on both of you.

My DD is rather easily distracted so maybe the baby station would be best :) However we're not used to Florida temperatures so I guess she'll be wanting to nurse more frequently, which will mean having to stop a lot at baby stations and make detours which could be a bit of hassle.

I guess I'll just take it as it comes, she can always have water if it's a problem :)

I'd say go ahead and nurse anywhere, but maybe find a quiet place and try to be discreet. There is a wide range of responses you'll get if noticed at all (so rare), most are supportive, but I've heard of people who are a bit more uptight if discretion isn't used-- usually complaining after the fact on a forum such as this one and not to the mother herself. I believe a woman should be able to nurse her baby anytime anywhere, but for my own comfort I'm pretty discreet and I've never had an issue. It's awful to hear about women who feel compelled to nurse in the bathroom :sad2: , so just do whatever you're comfortable with and you'll be fine.
