We don't do it, but we can't. I think it's because we have Annual Passes or because we are members of the DVC. I don't know if we'd do it anyway.
We have another plan, though, and it takes off a certain percentage of the final bill. It was $50, and I think it takes off 20%...not sure though. I think it's called the Disney Dining Experience or something...
I have no idea why you can't do DDP because of that. I've got both as well and we've used DDP quite a bit in the past.
To answer the OP, I love the DDP!!! I can get all the great food I've always wanted to try and I don't have to feel totally guilty about it later. I can rack up about $50 alone at a place like Le Cellier, so it's nice to know that all the food I ate all day was only about $40. Can't wait until my November trip. We're eating at the Yachtsman, Marakesh, 50's Prime Time, Le Cellier, 1900 Park Fare and Biergarten. I cannot wait!!!
Mickey, I know the rooms and things are rack rate, but we don't have DVC or anything like that. And we buy directly through Disney. We also don't fish for any special discounts. So the free DDP saves up tons of money. =]
My family never uses it because well we are kinda confused on how it works but it doesn't matter anyway because we usually stay offsite and eat at the restaurant's around our hotel.
Yeah, you can eat anything you want.................... And then you come home and the scale mysteriously adds another 10 pounds because of all the fat, grease, and calories Disney uses to entice people to stay.
I'm personally fine with my DVC discount giving me 20% off. But hey, if you like these sorts of deals but aren't big eaters like me, then I would suggest vouchers. They do just about the same thing, but you can choose how many to use fore each day, for each person. Virtually the same.
It's easy. You get three credits a day. One table service [appetizer, entree, dessert, and drink] one counter service [entree, side, drink, dessert] and one snack [anything under 4$]
It all comes on a card, and you just hand the waiter or whatever the card when you want to use a credit.
I did the Free Dining Plan last year and it is the BEST thing ever. You get snacks all the time and whatever you want to eat for dinner. However, some of the better restuarants require two credits...Cindrella's Castle and such. And the snacks are different at different places. At one snack stand in MK you could not get popcorn as a snack but at another...beside the ice cream parlor.. you could. I truly love this plan. We were going to go this year( we usually only go every other year) if they had the free dining plan but it ended a week before our fall break.
My family has had the dining plan for 2 years now. We love it! It is a lot of food. I never ate a full meal! You get 1 snack, 1 quick service, and 1 sit down meal a day! It is hard to come home, though, because you are used to eating SO much food! I was always hungry when I came home! But I still love the dining plan!
