Disney Fantasy - Western Caribbean - Jan 9 2016

Hi, everyone! This is our second Disney Cruise and first on the Fantasy. It will just be my husband and I sailing. We are also interested in the Fish Extender group. Has anyone stepped forward to organize it yet? I would love to get a head start on gift making! :)

Welcome dis wonders and dismom02!

Eight DCL cruises under my belt and I'm beginning to realize how much I may have taken them for granted! I do believe that the more organized you are before your trip, the more you can enjoy your trip. I plan on spending this year thinking about what I'm going to bring, and not bring, and on how I'm going to spend my time at each port.

JetBlue is supposed to go to 3 tier pricing this year. 2015- one price for no checked bags, one for one bag and one for 2 bags.

I may spend this year figuring out how to pack 3 carry on suitcases and buying laundry supplies when I get there. Lol
We just booked this cruise, well we have it held and need to pay the deposit by the 14th, but I think we will be doing it since they just announced that it's the Star Wars cruise.

As for Jetblue, we are Mosaic members for this year, so yeah we are getting spoiled, but next year I am afraid we will have to do the same. But we have done an entire two week trip on one carry on each and had room for souvenirs. The trick is get the space saver bags that can be either vaccumed or rolled out and you can fit a lot more in your bags, they really do work.

Have any of you done fish extenders before? If so, what was the coolest gift you got and were there any that you got multiples of? TIA!

Hi Everyone,

We are on the Fantasy for January 9, 2016. This will be our first cruise and we are very excited. We booked it 2 days before they announced the Star Wars day at sea and got even more excited! I've read about the fish extenders and it sounds like such a cute idea! I am looking forward to reading everyones posts, especially the people who have cruised before.

Quick question for those who have cruised before. I was just looking at the cruise activities overview on the DCL website and it's showing the Pirate Deck Party both day 4 (when we'll be at Grand Cayman) and day 5. I thought it was usually only one night, and when we're at sea? Obviously I know we're almost a year out so I'm sure there will be PLENTY of changes between now and then, I'm just curious (and a big planner!). I was thinking maybe one of them will be our Star Wars day? Of course, then it shouldn't be on a port day...heck, I don't know! LOL

Where do you see the activities overview?

I Actually have space bags but haven't used them since the kids were little. I used to put a days clothing set in a bag and that way they just had to pull out a bag and get dressed themselves. It was a great thing for a single mother with three little boys. I should dig them out from the back of the closet. Thanks for the great idea!
I should use them anyhow. One trip we watched our luggage being loaded onto the plane in a torrential down pouring of rain. Everything in the suitcase was wet but the clothes that were in the space bags. That's just one reason to use them every time.

Oh, and someone posted this info in social media from magic of main street website. It provides more Star Wars info:

Get ready Star Wars fans, your favorite galactic heroes and villains are coming to select sailings on the Disney Fantasy in 2016. Disney announced that the day-long celebration is coming aboard eight sailings on DCL’s newest and biggest ship next year. It’ll be a day filled with a deck party, meet-and-greets with favorite characters, Star Wars-themed youth activities, unique food and beverage offerings, and special merchandise.

The Star Wars fun is coming to the Western Caribbean itinerary on sailings that launch January 9 and 23; February 6 and 20; March 5 and 19; April 2 and 16, 2016.

Guests will enjoy:

  • Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers and other characters from across the Star Wars galaxy will be onboard for scheduled meet and greets, as well as roaming on deck and elsewhere around the ship. Guests also are encouraged to dress up in their own stellar costumes.
  • A shipboard version of the popular Jedi Training Academy experience invites young Jedi hopefuls – known as “Padawans” – to learn lightsaber moves from a Jedi Master. They can then use the Force and face off in a final test against the evil Darth Vader.
  • Kids and families enjoy friendly competition during Star Wars trivia games, covering fun facts from the film and television sagas.
  • For Younglings, Star Wars-themed arts and crafts, games and activities will be offered throughout the day in Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab youth clubs.
  • In the evening, adults entering the night club will feel like they stepped into the Mos Eisley cantina scene. Characters and cantina music set the mood as Star Wars-themed specialty cocktails are served.

There will be screenings of all six Star Wars films and additional viewings of the Disney XD animated series “Star Wars Rebels.” Celebrity guests will also be on hand for meet and greets with cruise guests.

As day turns to night, there will be the most interstellar deck party DCL has ever seen followed by a special Star Wars fireworks show — complete with lasers, pyrotechnics and Star Wars music.

It's being said that Star Wars day is the first Sea Day.

Also pirate night is usually on a port night with a sea day after so the kids can sleep in. I'm thinking night of Grand Cayman

It appears that a Fish Extender groups has not yet been started for this cruise, so I am willing to organize this one.

If you would like to participate in the Fish Extender, please PM me the following information:
Cabin Number:
Number of Adults:
Number of Children:
Ages of Children:
Gender of each adult and child, if you wish to avoid a "boy" gift being given to a girl or vice versa.
List Names, if so desired:

In order to keep this safe and fun for all, please list all Allergies or items you can't have for religious or other reasons (don't care what the reason is, just the items, such as alcohol, pork, coffee, etc.):
Please specify if these items should not be given to your cabin at all or if it applies to specific people in your cabin. If it applies to specific people, please mention which ones, either by name or age and gender depending on the information you shared.

If there is any information you would prefer not to share, please feel free to skip it. But we do need to know a minimum of cabin number and the number of people (preferably number of children and adults) in your cabin. If you do not know your cabin number yet, just let me know, I will print lists and markup the changes and have them available at our cabin on the first night of the cruise.

If someone else would prefer to organize, I won't be offended and will pass any information that I have already received along. I do not want to step on any toes.

Congratulations to both of you. Just a reminder for everyone, Disney requires infants to be at least 6 months old before the sail date. I know that shouldn't be an issue for you, unless the baby comes late. I just would hate for someone to not be aware of the policy and be disappointed.
