I take it the drinks are good? is it kid friendly?

Drinks are good. Had long island ice tea's the last time and then there are plenty of sweet marg flavors. It is extremely kid friendly. There is the beach, there is clean pool behind the beach, water slides. There is a swim out inflatable water area in the ocean - kids love this.
If you want to relax, drink a couple drinks, have fun with the kids, relax i highly recommend it. I am a lounge and relax vacation guy myself. And when you travel to these ports it seems the beaches are owned - so you either pay or drive very far out to find a public beach. I'll pay... just get me there and drive me home.

have traveled with kids on our last cruise - you can download the disney cruise smartphone app (if they have an smartphone or iPod) - and they would be able to text your cell phone through the app. Or, you can do the wave phone thing.
I personally refuse to pick up a wave phone and only use my personal phone because my iTunes playlist is on it. Otherwise than than, I want to unplug, disconnect and not be tethered to a screen - there are 51 other weeks this year for all that to take place; just my two cents.

As long as you believe your daughter is responsible enough not to lose it, it's a great way to keep in contact on the ship. Those phones don't do anything more than make/take calls and text, but the texting is kind of a pain and it's likely she wouldn't even bother with it. We've let our son take one of the wave phones on each of our cruises since he began visiting Edge 2 years ago. We use it to simply check in with him through out the day along with having scheduled meet up times.

I read on one of the Disney sites that there will be Star Wars merchandise the entire cruise and some "special" merchandise on Star Wars Day at Sea. So that is when I plan on buying our stuff.
