First, I apologize if this thread was meant to go into the Swan & Dolphin FAQ Sticky, I had the feeling it was only for FAQ info and not opinions and such.

Ok, has anyone else considered having their wedding at the Swan & Dolphin?

I've been looking into this and the coordinator I've spoken with has been AWESOME so far. I told her my wedding is May 2009 and she said I can send you all the information, but just a word of caution that prices may increase, this way the day after I emailed them! I've asked very specific questions about different options and such and she'll asnwered them already and is looking into some things for me and I haven't even booked a day. Very good customer service.

When I called Disney Fairytale, they told me everything I already know word for word from the website, I didn't get any further information. This is what I expected though.

It seems like they can do alot of the disney touches I wanted and there isn't minimums for spending. I wanted to do a intimate ceremony with a dinner reception but this seems a little difficult through Disney.

There's some pros and cons to both, But I just wanted to get some other opinions on this, some pros and cons from you guys. Please don't beat me up guys for asking for cons for Disney, :scared: If I had a money and was having a 100 people guest list - it would be Disney all the way!

There are several brides on here that got married there. I think it's definately a option. I am getting married at Shades of Green. Alot of it because of cost. I would love to have a DFTW but for some of us it's just not possible. You won't get flamed on here. Everyone is very helpful. Maybe do a search on Swan and Dolphin wedding. Maybe there are some trip reports.

We welcome ALL questions here...Disney or not

I love the Swan & Dolphin....we walked over from our wedding & did pictures there...its a neat resort

I dont see anything wrong with doing it there...it IS still on Disney property & is even connected to the Boardwalk.

I never looked into the Swan weddings, but Im sure they try to make it as Disney like as they can.

Id love to hear more from this thread:)

If anyone would like information on Swan & Dolphin weddings, PM me with an email address and I can send you the info I recieved.

I do suggest contacting them they since they respond so quickly and are very helpful.

So far I've asked if I could have the white chocolate castle topper from Disney and also have a horse drawn carriage and she said yes to both.

I know read somewhere they can also get you cinderella's coach and you can have characters too, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I could ask though...

Thanks so much for everyone being so sincere and sweet answering all questions we all may have - whether Disney or not!

I know that Swan and Dolphin are not part of Disney, but I didnt know that the weddings are seperated.. I think that getting married there is still getting married in Disney:cutie:

I do not have too much info on weddings but let me know if you have any questions about the resorts themselves. I worked at the front desk for 2 years.

There have been a few intimate brides that had dinners at a resort. They wore their wedding apparel and had special menues. I am not sure if they had a private room or not. The down side is you would have your cake before your dinner (but is that really a bad thing  ), but you might be able to work something out with DFTW.

Yes the wedding coordinator is AWESOME! I love her so much!

Yes, you can have characters. They are the same price as Disney, and they show up at the end of your ceremony, not at the reception like a Disney Custom.

Unfortunately, you cannot have Cinderella's carriage, but you can have a regular horse drawn carriage!

I was going to go with a Disney custom. I was planning to go with Disney for over a year! But the swan is much more flexible. It can be way cheaper too! The ceremony price includes so much more!

I am having the chocolate castle cake topper. :) Actually anyone can order them! An independent company makes them, not Disney. yay!

The only aspect I absolutely 100% do NOT recommend is using the swan/dolphin ballrooms. They were so unresponsive to me. So much so that I thought maybe something was wrong with my email account!! They let me know only 11 days before our visit (for a planning session) that they didn't have space for me for my reception!!! (this was after I had been talking with them for months and months). It was a total nightmare. I know from other boards that I am not the only one who has problems with them either. I'm not sure what the deal was. :sad2:

I am glad that it happened though, because I am now having my reception at the Blue Zoo, and they have been awesome! Not to mention the restaurant is beyond pretty. I know many other swan brides are having their reception at Fulton's and at Portobello. There are so many restaurant options!

jennifer, i am also having my wedding at the swan on 28 june 07, and want the chocolate castle topper, can you advise me on how to go about ordering?
many thanks

Sure Pezzapixiedust! You can get it from Impressions: http://www.fairytalewedding.com/

Or you can just ask your wedding planner to inlude it with the cake. When I sent her my ideas for the cake, I gave the website and asked if the bakery could get the topper for me, and they can!

mermaidbride1108- yes, I ave lots of pics! The first one Gina posted is of the private room that I am using. It's very upscale looking in person. It's actually 3 rooms that can be combined or seperated as needed. I think that pic is of 2 rooms. i think, LOL. Here is a link that has better pics than I have:

I love the place!
