Disney Every Day - Update 10/21 – 1, 2, 3! We’re Leaving for Orlando Tomorrow!

Whooohooo! You are going to love it! It's so well done, we were pleased even just eating fries and cupcakes! ;)

I am sooooooooo excited for you. I tried to contact you last night when I saw someone report they were opened, but I have no contact on you. I tried to see if you were on chat in Facebook, but no luck. You must pm me with your cell phone number! I'll be able to text you in the parks and stalk you in August!!! :rotfl2: So, when is the ADR for? You didn't tell us that part??!!

Also would someone PLEASE tell me why I cannot access photobucket on my home lap top!! Is it some type of site that my firewall blocks? I'd really like to update sometimes at home but cannot do so right now. HELP!!!! :upsidedow

I figured Coy wouldn't be much of a hugger as he is a teenage boy. Just tell the kids I'm their crazy Auntie Ann from up North!

Karen hasn't confirmed she's staying on our Murphy bed yet!!! [

Oh, and I've been meaning to show you Victoria's hair:

Are you a hugger? Because I’m a hugger! True is definitely a hugger, too. Coy used to be, so I will take pictures as you wrap your arms around him and he gives you a few polite taps on the back

Wow. You two like to live dangerously. After 9 hours in the park and walking around, I would not go close enough to my son for a hug. Nope. Not doing it. :crazy2:

I don't think I would fit on the Murphy bed Ann! I'm too tall! :p Besides, you guys picked one of my busiest times (summer) so I don't think I could even hop a plane for a day. Nope, you'll just have to plan for Feb. 2014. ;)

LOVE Victoria's hair! We straighten Savannah's sometimes too, so easy to manage...but takes so long to do!

Funny, I'll just bring some Lysol for a really smelly day, Shannon!!

Oh, Karen....excuses, excuses!!!

Whooohooo! You are going to love it! It's so well done, we were pleased even just eating fries and cupcakes! ;)

I cant wait! I think the kids will love it! It seems like the type of place where you could just have bread and water, and be happy just being there :goodvibes

I finally saw your message when I logged on here this morning. I dont get any notification when someone writes on my wall or whatever they call it on DIS :confused3 I have to figure out how to do that. Thank you for trying to reach me, though! Ill PM you my number in a few minutes :yay: So, the ADR is for 8:10pm, which is much later than we usually eat dinner in the parks, but that is OK because MK closes at 9pm anyway, so we can slowly make our way out of the park after having a nice meal :thumbsup2

Sorry, but I dont know anything about Photobucket. I use Flickr. It seems like more people use Photobucket, so I wonder if I am missing out?

Yeah, Coy isnt much of a hugger these days. I barely get any myself! True will make up for him, though! Well, Karen knows that the murphy bed is available, so maybe she will surprise us and just show up one day! :rotfl: Itll be cool by me!

Oh my goodness, Victoria looks so pretty! That hairstyle suits her! You know I love the naturally curly hair all of the women in my family have it but there is something about straight hair that makes a girl look more mature :goodvibes She looks like a young lady! princess: And my goodness, it is long! Isnt it crazy how much curly hair shrinks up? You really cant tell how long it is until it is straight. True has had her hair in braids and curls for so long that she didnt realize how long it was. When I took a flat iron to her hair a couple of weeks ago, she was shocked how much her hair had grown! Does Victoria know how to flat iron it herself or do you have to do it? Tell her for me that she looks great!

Wow. You two like to live dangerously. After 9 hours in the park and walking around, I would not go close enough to my son for a hug. Nope. Not doing it. :crazy2:

:lmao: Yeah, Ill have to make sure he layers on the deodorant on this trip! I was spoiled on the last two trips because he was still too young for stinky pits! He puts on deodorant, but sometimes he doesnt put on enough :rotfl: Sometimes, on the rare occasions that I do get a hug, Ill get a whiff and I will ask, Did you put on deodorant after your shower today? Oh, and he got Axe body spray for Christmas and he thought that was deodorant! Needless to say, it didnt work as deodorant! He would kill me if he knew I told you guys that! :rotfl2: Dont worry, though, he likes to smell good for the ladies!

I don't think I would fit on the Murphy bed Ann! I'm too tall! :p Besides, you guys picked one of my busiest times (summer) so I don't think I could even hop a plane for a day. Nope, you'll just have to plan for Feb. 2014. ;)

Ill take any excuse to plan another trip!

Isnt Victorias hair cute? I can see how it would take you forever to straighten Savannahs hair. Her hair seems very thick. It takes me hours to straighten Trues hair, but only a few minutes when she needs a quick touch-up a few days later. She loves her hair straight, but she hates sitting in a chair for two hours while I flat iron it. I told her that sometimes you have to make sacrifices for beauty! :lmao:

Funny, I'll just bring some Lysol for a really smelly day, Shannon!!

Oh, Karen....excuses, excuses!!!

Lysol? Youre going to bring out the industrial strength stuff? :rotfl:

Happy Belated Birthday Erin...!:goodvibes That was so sweet of True... she seemed so excited to celebrate your birthday...

I think that everyone should have a glass of champagne on their birthday even if they're at work...;) (We have a strange culture surrounding alcohol in our country... people are teetotalers at lunch (even one glass of wine is considering wild & then they binge drink on weekends... please... & then we wonder why are kids get so confused and run into trouble with alcohol... because they don't have many good examples of adults drinking sensibly and moderating. -Ok sorry for going off topic... this is just something that bothers me having an 18 year old and watching how this all plays out)

Anyway I'm glad you B-Day was great... nice pictures... great one with Coy...:goodvibes

I love love that you are staying at POR... so pretty there...& boat shuttle to DTD...:thumbsup2

I'm really glad you got your ADRs ... so happy for you that you got BoG... we had a lunch in there and I feel in LOVE with the decor... I'm sure Dinner will be to die for...

Hurray for a Dismeet...:cool1:

Oh and BTW... you'd better prepare Coy for Ann... cause it's been my experience when someone actually tells you upfront that they're a hugger... They are a super hugger...:lmao:

Sorry I went MIA for almost two weeks! I need to get rolling on this PTR again and I need to get caught up on all of your TRs and PTRs! What can I say? As usual, work is insanely busy! Gone are the days that I could spend free time (and not so free time  ) at work on Facebook, Twitter and the most important: DIS!!! Yeah, I can’t really do that at this job. Two weekends ago, the kids were at their dad’s, so I had every intention of finally getting up a post about the Disney on Ice show that the kids and I went to a few weeks ago. The post was all written out, all I had to do was add the pictures, but I was exhausted and I just wanted to veg out in front of the TV… as usual :happytv: I was soooooooo lazy! And it was great! Then on Tuesday, my whole department had a day-long conference. It was supposed to be a day and a half long, but the snow storm that was looming had us shorten the meetings. You guys are probably getting bored right now, but I promise this all has something to do with the vacation! So, anyway, we got what was named Snow-quester late on Tuesday night and most of the day on Wednesday. We were due to get about 8 inches of snow, but I think we only got a few inches and then it got washed away by the rain that we had Wednesday night. So much for Snow-quester and so much for having two snow days! At least I had one snow day and I was able to spend it with my kids :goodvibes

In any case, you know that feeling you get when someone says to you, “We need to talk” It’s that horrible feeling of impending doom! Well, last week I gave my boss my vacation dates and he emailed me back, “Let’s talk about this on Friday.” Oh no! I felt physically ill. I kid you not. I had this awful feeling that he was going to say that I couldn’t go and blah blah blah! Then, I got a chip on my shoulder and I thought to myself, “I don’t care what anyone says! I earned this vacation time! I haven’t taken the kids to Disney in FOUR freaking years! I’m going!” If you knew me in real life, you would know that I am not a confrontational type of person. But after countless cancelled vacations and not stepping foot in Orlando in four years, I was feeling fairly protective of my plans! Friday couldn’t come soon enough for me… but then he had to take the day off! I was freaking out a little because I was prepared for having that conversation with him then. For anyone that doesn’t know my backstory, my boss was someone I knew for about four years at my old job and then I worked for him my last year at that job. About six months after I started working for him, he left to take his current job. Then, after I got laid off at my old job, I was fortunate enough to get hired by him at our current job. Was I adequately confusing when I explained that? We have been work friends for about six years now, but we aren’t buddy buddy or anything like that. Basically, I could be frank with him about why I needed everything to go as planned for this vacation, but I couldn’t cuss him out if he disagreed with me :lmao: Thankfully, he knew me well enough to call me on Friday afternoon to discuss my vacation. I really appreciated that he took the time to do that even though he was off from work that day. He probably knew I was anxious to know what he meant by “Let’s talk.”

I was going to say “long story short” but whenever I say that, it is already a long story! Anyway, we have a pretty big project coming up over the summer and it really is going to be a two person job. He and I are the only two people in our particular department and we act as each other’s backups. I handle the day-to-day operation of things and he is the big-picture guy. Plus, I supervise a call center and he manages, but he is becoming more hands-off so that I can develop more in that area. Plus, he is even busier than I am every day. So when he called me on Friday, he reminded me of the big project that we have coming up. He didn’t say that I couldn’t go on vacation, but asked that I shorten the dates. He said that he could handle everything for a week, but that I was an integral part of this team and that he really needed me. Then he said that he couldn’t do his job if I wasn’t here doing mine every day and that he appreciated all of the hard work I have been doing! :) This may not seem like a big deal to some of you, but to me, it was huge! The job where he and I both worked previously was a place where people got very little appreciation from their managers and little to no recognition. It was all about sales. If you were in customer service (like I was) or technical support (like he was) you didn’t matter. Well, I may be exaggerating a tiny bit  but this was how the majority of people felt. On top of that, I did my best to work my way up in that company, and I was given a lot of responsibility, but I was never officially promoted. So, yeah, I am bitter that the company used my skills but never rewarded me with a better title or better pay! When I finally went to work for my boss at our old job, I was more than willing to take a pay cut in order to be able to finally do something different. I wasn’t earning commission anymore in that job, but I was learning and had the potential to finally grow within the company. But then he left for this job and a few months later, a few of my teammates and I got laid off. But that same mentality from that old job stayed with me and it wasn’t until I was talking to my boss on the phone on Friday that I realized that I finally had the job I was working so hard to get at our old company! I was finally a supervisor. I was finally able to make real decisions. I was finally able to create policies. I was finally able to make a real difference with my staff. I was finally able to be truly proud of myself and the work I was doing :goodvibes:

So, I told you guys ALL of that to let you know why I am shortening the trip. So our dates are now Friday, August 23rd to Monday, September 2nd – basically, the dates that I booked at WDW. I’m so glad I didn’t book UO yet! My plan is for the kids to meet me at work on Friday and then take a late flight into Orlando. So that still gives us nine park days. My original plan was to forget UO all together and take another trip to Orlando in April 2014 to do the non-Disney parks, but… now I am not so sure. Let me back up just a bit. My boss said that the company prefers that we take one-week vacations, so it would be OK for me to take this week in August, and then take another week a few months later. My original thought was to take a week in October, but October is the beginning of my department’s busy season. So, April was the next logical thought because my kids’ birthdays are in that month. I just don’t want to wait until April to experience UO with the kids for the first time! I thought about February, too, but that is at the tail-end of my department’s busy season. It’s not totally off of the table, though. But now I am thinking that I can turn three of those WDW days into UO days. I have based the following days on my ADRs and not on any type of scientific process of choosing the days  There are just certain ADRs that I am not willing to give up! So these are the days – WDW in purple and UO in sienna:

Saturday, August 24th – MK/HS day: Before Park Opening breakfast at Crystal Palace; early dinner at Sci-Fi

Sunday, August 25th –AK/MK day: Before Park Opening breakfast at Tusker House; late lunch at T-Rex

Monday, August 26th –EP day: Before Park Opening breakfast at Akershus; early dinner at Coral Reef

Tuesday, August 27th – Universal day

Wednesday, August 28th – Universal day (I want to keep the dinner at Whispering Canyon Café, if possible)

Thursday, August 29th –EP day: early breakfast at 1900 Park Fare; dinner at Garden Grill

Friday, August 30th –Universal day (I also want to keep the early breakfast at Chef Mickey, if I can!)

Saturday, August 31st –AK/EP day: early lunch at Rainforest Café (the AK location); dinner at Le Cellier

Sunday, September 1st –MK day: early breakfast at ‘Ohana; early dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table

Actually, looking at this in black and white (purple and white? :confused3 :rotfl2: ) I’m not sure this is the best plan. I might have to rework a few of my WDW days because we aren’t spending nearly enough time in MK or HS for our tastes. I mean, this looks good in theory… That reminds me! I was saying that these new park days weren’t based on any type of logical formula at all, so I was wondering if any of you guys use touringplans.com/Unofficial Guide for UO? I love Touring Plans and I swear by their website for WDW park days. Well, now they have a separate section for UO park days! With a separate fee, of course  I was thinking about subscribing to that part of the site, too, and now it seem essential since I have to squeeze in UO, but I wanted to see if anyone else has used it. I am all about real reviews from real users! But, I’m not sure the UO section of the site has even been up long enough for anyone to have used it. I just noticed it last week. I want to make sure we are going to the best parks on the best days whenever possible. Oh! I almost forgot that Coy still really wants to go to Sea World! He actually brought it up on his own numerous times this weekend, so I have to fit that into the plans as well. I don’t know what made him think of Sea World, because I haven’t been discussing the vacation plans with the kids recently, so I know he must REALLY want to go if he is bringing it up out of the blue. I might take the kids on Wednesday, as originally planned, and just spend two days in UO. I’m so confused! I guess I have to do more research! :surfweb: Please, give me any feedback or tips that you might have! I feel like nine days is more than enough time to do almost everything we want, but I could use some reassurance ;)

Wait! I just looked at my notes and realized that August 30th is the day that we have a dinner ADR for Be Our Guest! No way am I going to give that up! But ugh!!! What to do? What to do??? :faint:

Hurrah for Be Our Guest! :goodvibes

I am so excited! :yay: That is the main ADR that I wanted and I know the kids will love eating there!

Thanks! She really did enjoy putting the party together for me :cutie: I wholeheartedly agree with you about the drinking thing. At my old job, a friend and I went to lunch with our training class – we were celebrating passing our tests and being gainfully employed – and we decided to all go to a sushi restaurant together. My friend and I decided to live it up with a couple of glasses of sake and the rest of the group looked at us as if we had lost our minds! We weren’t getting drunk, we weren’t driving, and we weren’t doing anything after lunch besides wrapping up our training class. We just wanted to have a toast (or two ;) ) to celebrate our achievement after a strenuous training course! I thought it was just silly because more than one of the group had talked to us before about how they would drink at night or on the weekends, but apparently having a drink at lunch is taboo. But to your point, I completely agree with you about sending mixed messages to kids about drinking. My dad has always been very open about drinking beer (my mom rarely drinks) during happy hour after work and at home, so I feel like my siblings and I grew up with a healthy relationship to alcohol. Some of my friends, on the other hand, had parents who weren’t as open with them and those were the kids who were consistently overindulging. But everyone has different parenting styles, so who am I to judge? To each their own. I just hope that my kids grow up with a respect for alcohol, too. Anyway, I am super excited about staying at POR and I love the idea of being able to take the boat to DTD – I hate trying to find parking there! I have to catch up on your TR because you guys went to a lot of great restaurants! I’m so happy about my first DISmeet! I can’t wait to meet Ann!

Oh and BTW... you'd better prepare Coy for Ann... cause it's been my experience when someone actually tells you upfront that they're a hugger... They are a super hugger...:lmao:

 Yes, I’ll make sure that Coy is prepared for our “Disney Cousin” Ann! We have lots of super huggers in our family, so that’s how I know he will probably just stand there take the hug but won’t give one back :lmao:

HEY!!!!! I don't believe someone needs to be WARNED against me........;)

:rotfl: It’s funny because we get so familiar with each other on the DIS, I feel like I already know you IRL! But our kids are going to be like, “Who are these people and why are you so excited to see them?” So I’m going to start talking about our Disney Cousin so my kids won’t think I’m weird for being happy about meeting someone I met online! Isn’t this what we warn our kids not to do? :lmao:

Well, I was kidding.......unless there's something you haven't told me???? Are you smelly people?? :crazy2:

It depends on the day :rotfl2:

Oh boy, when I saw that title, I shuddered a bit! SHEW!

First off, I think it's FANTASTIC that you realized these things about your job! I'm so happy for you! Secondly, can you not go away like that for so long? :lol

thirdly, I think your trip still sounds LONG in my book, and amazing! BUT...I will say that I think if you are cutting days, you should probably just do 2 days at Universal. I think it can all be done in 2 days and it will give you more for Disney. Plus, you'll come back in the future and can do anything you missed at UO, but you have been waiting SO LONG to get back to Disney, I would hate for you to shorten it too much for UO. Of course this is coming from a huge Disneyobsessed person, so you can take it with a grain of salt!

LOL... exactly ... I wasn't trying to insult you Ann...I'm sure you are extremely warm and cuddly:goodvibes ... in fact I mentioned you last night ( I think I posted this on your PTR ... when Eric told me about a coworker who had just gotten chickens... and I was all like I already know someone with chickens... and when he asked and I told him you were a Dis er I just got the look... ... but he's kind of used to it now...;)

Erin... super kudos on your work ... it's good to feel appreciated and acknowledged...:thumbsup2

I still think that you have a lot of time...you really will be able to get so much done...(don't forget the crowds will be lower too at that point... makes a big difference) and if it leads to another trip... nothing wrong with that...:woohoo: I think that for you the most important part of UO is probably Harry Potter? (so you might want to get a taste of that even though you're primary focus will be Disney....;)

If I didn't say it before... you do have great ADRs...

See? When people say, “Let’s talk,” it automatically makes people uneasy! That’s kinda why I gave this post that title! :lmao: Sorry, buddy! Thanks for being happy for me about my job :goodvibes It has been a completely different experience going to work every day for me and, after that talk with my boss, now I really understand the reason why I have been so happy!

Sorry for being off of the boards for so long! I missed you guys! I’m going to try to do better, especially since my trip needs to be rearranged now. You’re right, this trip is long and I think we can do it all. You know I am a Disney Addict, too, so you were exactly on point about why I didn’t want to cut too many WDW days: it has been FOREVER since we have been there and I don’t want to shorten our time there, even if it is for another park that the kids and I want to visit. I’m going to start reworking the plans tonight, but I think that only doing two UO days is the way to go :thumbsup2

My kids and siblings are the same way when I talk about people on the boards. I’ve started to just say, “My friend did blah blah blah,” and not even say where I know that friend from because they just look at me like I am weird! Thanks for the kudos! I am really happy here and from day one on the job, it has increased my quality of life :goodvibes You’re right, we do have plenty of park time and I think I can work this out. Oh, I really do have another week-long trip back to Orlando in the works :scratchin but I am trying to figure this trip out before I start planning for February or April :rolleyes2 But you are right, Harry is the main draw to UO, so I will be happy if we do that section of the park and nothing else! My ADRs are pretty good, if I do say so myself ;) That’s why I have to work around them! Oh, and your TR has truly made me want to add some different restaurants in the mix when I do start planning that 2014 Disney trip!

Hey Erin! :wave2:

Once I read the words "let's talk..." I would have puked. No lie. I hate confrontation and all the junk that goes along with all of these work "chats". I'm so glad it wasn't as bad as you imagined!

I'm glad you are still going because you certainly deserve this trip! Those kids deserve this trip!

I have it figured out, guys! :hyper: A little birdie was able to give me the some information from the UO section of touringplans.com and that made making these plans SO much easier! Thank you, little birdie! I made a brand new chart with the hours for all six parks, plus the crowd level information and the parade/show times. I have been a busy beaver! That reminds me of that song from the Spongebob Movie “I’m a Goofy Goober, yeah! He’s a Goofy Goober, yeah!” Sorry, I am a little crazy right now because I have been up since 6am, and that is unusual for me on a Saturday :lmao: Plus, True decided to stay home with me instead of going to her dad’s this weekend, so we were up until about midnight. So, I am running on very little sleep and I am just a tiny bit excited out the new plans :yay: I should get back to the plans, huh? So, I added all of our ADRs to the chart and I worked out how to rearrange the days. I’m actually really pleased with how it turned out! The kids and I will go to UO, then Sea World and then UO again between August 27th and August 29th. So I had to give up the ADRs for 50’s Prime Time, 1900 Park Fare and Garden Grill. The only one I was really upset about was Garden Grill, so I checked to see if I could move that ADR to another night, and I could! I added Garden Grill on August 31st and I cancelled the ADR for Le Cellier. I’ll just have to plan another trip so that we can go to Le Cellier ;) So, these are the NEW days – WDW in purple and UO in sienna:

Saturday, August 24th – MK/HS day: Before Park Opening breakfast at Crystal Palace; early dinner at Sci-Fi

Sunday, August 25th –AK/EP day: Before Park Opening breakfast at Tusker House; late lunch at T-Rex

Monday, August 26th –EP day: Before Park Opening breakfast at Akershus; early dinner at Coral Reef

Tuesday, August 27th – Universal day: IoA in the morning, US in the afternoon/evening: lunch at Three Broomsticks; late dinner at Bubba Gump

Wednesday, August 28th – Sea World day (still keeping the dinner at Whispering Canyon Café)

Thursday, August 29th – Universal day: IoA in the morning, US in the afternoon/evening: early dinner at Mythos

Friday, August 30th –MK day: early breakfast at Chef Mickey; late dinner at Be Our Guest

Saturday, August 31st –HS/EP day: early lunch at Rainforest Café (the AK location); dinner Garden Grill

Sunday, September 1st –AK/MK day: early breakfast at ‘Ohana; early dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table

I rearranged the days a bit so that we would have one whole day at MK and two half days, the same at EP, and then two half days at HS, AK, IoA and US. Oh, and the whole day at Sea World. The hours for Sea World that day are 9am to 7pm, so I think I will get the Quick Queue Unlimited passes so that we can do all of the attractions and most of the shows. I think we can be out of there by 5 or 6pm and still make our ADR for Whispering Canyon. Speaking of passes, I’m going to get the Universal Express passes to go with our two-day park tickets. Since we are only doing two days in UO, I want to make sure we get the most of that time. I’m really happy about how the plans turned out. I was worried about nothing because nine park days really is a long time!

Hey Erin!

Oh, I know! I was so nervous about having that talk with my boss! Thank goodness it all worked out!

I am so glad you were able to figure out new plans. You can always buy the express once you are in the parks and see if you really need them.
