Disney Every Day - Update 10/21 – 1, 2, 3! We’re Leaving for Orlando Tomorrow!

Mine were cute, though! But the M&Ms on top of the frosting on top of the sugar cookies was too much for me. So I ate the M&Ms first and then waited a minute or so before eating the rest of the cookie! LOL!

I LOVE these - what a great idea! I may have to borrow this idea! And I wish I had seen this before I made that dumb hazelnut soup - brilliant! You are as always a genius, Erin!

Hey Erin,

Loved your Tangled movie night... love that film and love that it's a pretty guy friendly princess movie too...:thumbsup2 Your treats look great and the braided bread is a really creative twist on her hair... hmm I wouldn't mind some treats right about now either...

Good luck with the ressies... It would be awesome if your sister(s) were able to go at the same time...:goodvibes

The pictures I've always seen of POP always make it look like lots of fun but I'm partial to the PO... I always loved it and recently I'm really into the Princess and the Frog so I'm extra loving it...;) If you can get free dining it probably would make up a good part of the difference in price...:goodvibes

Erin, you are such a great, great mom! Nights like your Tangled night will be something your two kiddos remember forever. Just taking the time and doing fun little things like that is awesome. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much, Kelli! We have so much fun doing them! I keep thinking of more and more movie nights that I want to do with the kids! :goodvibes

Thanks, Alysa! I’m just trying to compete with you and the other creative ladies on the boards! Again, I can’t take all of the credit – I got most of these ideas from Pinterest ;)

Thank you, Patricia! We have seen Tangled so many times, it isn’t funny! It definitely is boy-friendly and we all love the music! I really hope my sister can come along on the trip! I think she and her BF would love POR and I know my kids and I will. POP is so cute and I really want to take a bunch of pictures there, though. I think my kids would get a kick out of knowing that I used to have some of the toys that are on display there, so I’ll still be happy if we do end up there, but I am pulling for POR!

I am still working on an update about Disney on Ice, so I thought I’d also give you some trip news and show you our movie night for Mulan to tide you over!

Unfortunately, Ashley won’t be able to make it on the trip. :sad2: I am truly disappointed. She went into work on Monday and checked the calendar, and she saw that another woman on her job was scheduled to be on maternity leave during the time that we will be in WDW. Is it terrible that I am trying to see if there is a way I can convince this woman to hold her baby in for an extra month? :confused3 :lmao: Oh well. My sisters and I are determined to go to WDW together some day. If we put it off another year, maybe our other sister can come along as well! :thumbsup2 At least that means I won’t have to change my ADRs around. My ADR date is just over a week away and I am looking forward to getting some plans solidified!

So, on to the movie night! I’m going to put this out there upfront: no crafts got completed and we didn’t actually watch Mulan! We had fun, anyway and I am looking forward to doing it again next year! We chose Mulan in honor of Chinese New Year, which was this past Sunday. This was another weeknight party for us, so we went to the party supply store and got a few decorations and then we went to the grocery store to get some fortune cookies and frozen Chinese food. It still turned out to be a pretty nice spread:

Oops! You can see my Christmas tree in the background of that one! No, I still haven’t put away our tree  I’m going to do it this weekend, I promise! I actually saw this cool wrapping technique online that allows for the tree to stay intact – keeping the branches and the Christmas lights in place – so I am going to try that because it will make it a breeze to put the tree up come Christmas! Anyway, please forgive my laziness so we can move on :rotfl: We displayed oranges on the table to bring in good luck and wealth:

We ate them, along with the fortune cookies, for dessert! My favorite part of our spread was the lanterns:

I just thought they were so pretty! Since we didn’t do any of the activities, I read about Chinese New Year traditions out loud to my kids, so I guess that kinda sorta counts as an activity.

To wrap this post up, here is a picture of Coy being crazy, as usual:

:rotfl2:

I love Mulan! She is one of my top 3 right now... (Mulan, Tiana and a tie between Rapunzel and Merida...)

I also love Chinese New Year... it looks like you had a nice evening... I love all those colors and traditions of the Chinese New Year. Combined with a showing of Mulan...:thumbsup2

We had so much fun, even if it was just setting up for dinner! I loved the colors, too, because red is my favorite color. The tablecloth was gold, but it was so thin that the wood from the table was showing through. Next time, I’ll have to double up the tablecloth so that the color will be more vibrant.

Oh - so great! Love that you can still get Coy to do these movie nights with you! :goodvibes And such pretty decorations! We did Mulan too but sooo tired, I'll try to post today! I forgot how much work babies are when they are small!

Thanks, Alysa! I'm glad Coy participates, even if he's reluctant sometimes  Weren't the decorations pretty? They were cheap, too! I can't wait to see your Chinese New Year party!

Six Months! party: Well, my ticker says 5 months, 4 weeks and 2 days. I guess the ticker has a hard time dealing with February being a short month :confused3 So I started celebrating six months to our trip yesterday! I was also celebrating my birthday! :cake: Yep, I turned the Big 40 yesterday! It was a really nice day. Im going to hijack my own update to tell you guys about it, but then I will get back to the actual update, OK? Promise! If youre not interested, you can scroll past the pictures and just read what Ive changed (again) about the ADRs...

So, I went to work yesterday, even though I was thinking about taking the day off. Yesterday was a Thursday, so what could I really do on a Thursday to have fun for my birthday? Im glad I went to work, though because a couple of girls took me to this great sandwich shop for lunch. Then my whole department had a party for me and another girl whos birthday is today (she was smart enough to take the day off, though  ) We had champagne and cupcakes! It a nice break in the middle of a long day! Champagne? you might be asking. Yes, champagne! We know how to party around here! There is always someone serving wine or going to the store to get beers for the team. It is totally different from the environment where my boss and I used to work. We talk about it all the time, because we never had parties much less alcohol at our old company. Its a totally different culture here. One of the girls who took me to lunch yesterday joked that she should buy us some beers for lunch& but I am not completely sure she was joking! Im not much of a beer drinker, so I declined her offer ;) Anyway, during the party, I was telling the girls in my department about how True was planning on throwing a surprise party for me. I knew about it because I overheard her talking to my mom about it. I thought it was so sweet that True wanted to do something special for me! I told my co-workers that I had to practice my surprised face! Haha! So, when I got home last night, my entire house was dark, which is very unusual for kids who like to keep EVERY LIGHT IN THE HOUSE ON, but that is another story :rotfl: So, fully expecting my kids to jump out and yell Surprise! I made my way up the steps to the dining room. Sure enough, my kids, my mom and David all jumped out and yelled, Surprise! Even though I knew it was going to happen, I was still pretty shocking and I laughed! I didnt have to practice my surprised face at all! True decorated the dining room and everything looked so pretty and pink!

There were more decorations, but I didnt get pictures of everything. True got presents for me with her own money and she even let Coy put his name on them! LOL!

True decorated the cake with cookie icing, so she wasnt happy with how it turned out, but I loved it!

These were some of the cupcakes that I brought home from the party at work. They fit in perfectly with Trues color scheme!

I opened my smallest present first, and it was a box of snack baggies! I went along with the joke and said, Oh, just what I wanted! Snack bags! Then I opened up the box and saw that there were two smaller presents inside.

True could barely contain herself when she busted out and said, Pink polish and a clear coat! I asked, How did you know I wanted this? and she answered, I just knew. Grandma thought the pink was too bright, and True rolled her eyes  She is too funny! I didnt get a picture of it, but they also got me a cute black dress. True wanted me to try it on and take a picture, but I didnt feel like it right then. I knew that if I changed out of my clothes, Id end up putting on sweats LOL! I opened up the presents before blowing out the candles because I figured wed eat the cake after dinner. Well, Coy and True begged me to have the cake RIGHT THEN so I gave in and blew out the candles!

I only had a tiny piece of cake because I was close to my sweetness quota from the cupcakes earlier.

Then, I tried to get some good pictures of me and my kids before dinner, but True was clearly having a sugar rush, because she kept making silly faces!

Putting me in a choke hold -

Giving me devil horns (that my mom called bunny ears instead LOL!)

Coy told True to stop being silly, so she made this sad face

We tried a few more pictures, but I wont bore you with those. Then I told True we should just make silly pictures at the camera. They were hilarious pictures, but not the most flattering of me LOL so I wont post those! Then Coy and I got a nice picture and I have been showing it to people at work all morning

It was a really nice 40th birthday with my kids, mom and brother! This weekend, my kids and I are going to my sisters to continue the party! We invited Kyle along, but he has a big project due on Monday, so he wont be able to make it. The kids will have fun playing with Bruno, and my sisters and I will have fun making dinner and having a few drinks!

Anyway, on to the ADR changes! Today was supposed to be my ADR day, but since I changed my plans and we are at UO for the first three days, I dont get to do my ADRs until Monday. Thats OK, though, because I really need to think about our plans. Yesterday, I got an idea in my head that the kids and I should really take advantage of the PhotoPass + by going to the majority of the restaurants where they upload pics to PhotoPass +. Really, it was just an excuse to book more places to eat  The kids and I are foodies, so we would really enjoy going to a lot of restaurants so that we can try new things and go to our favorite places. There were a couple of restaurants that the kids really wanted to try, but werent on the list before, like 50s Prime Time Café and T-Rex. So, here are the further updated plans:

Wednesday, August 21st UO: WWoHP in the morning (Lunch at Three Broomsticks); IoA in the afternoon/evening (dinner at Mythos)

Thursday, August 22nd UO: WWoHP in the morning; US in the afternoon/evening (late lunch at Lombards Seafood Grille)

Friday, August 23rd UO: WWoHP in the morning; either IoA or US in the afternoon/evening (late lunch at Bubba Gump)

Saturday, August 24th MK in the morning (Before Park Opening breakfast at Crystal Palace); HS in the evening (early dinner at Sci-Fi)

Sunday, August 25th AK in the morning (Before Park Opening breakfast at Tusker House); EP in the evening (late lunch at T-Rex)

Monday, August 26th EP all day (Before Park Opening breakfast at Akershus; early dinner at Coral Reef)

Tuesday, August 27th HS all day (lunch at 50s Prime Time Café)

Wednesday, August 28th Sea World (dinner at Whispering Canyon Café)

Thursday, August 29th EP all day (early breakfast at 1900 Park Fare; early dinner at Garden Grill)

Friday, August 30th MK all day (early breakfast at Chef Mickey; dinner at Be Our Guest)

Saturday, August 31st AK in the morning (early lunch at Rainforest Café; late dinner at Le Cellier); MK or EP in the evening

Sunday, September 1st HS in the morning (early breakfast at Ohana); MK in the evening (early dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table)

Monday, September 2nd Departure day

If you have been paying extremely close attention, you would have noticed that I changed our breakfast at Three Broomsticks to lunch. All of you saw that, right? Yeah, I didnt expect you to notice :lmao: Well, I was pricing the items there and I saw the rotisserie chicken platter. It looked delicious! I realized that the kids and I would probably like lunch a lot better than breakfast. So I switched our lunch to a dinner at Mythos. Probably a very late dinner. This is where I need your help, UO experts. I have heard a few bits of conflicting info, so I was wondering if I really need to make some sort of reservation at Mythos. I want to make sure the kids and I get to eat there, but I dont want out UO days to be too structured since this will be our first time going.

I switched my Sci-Fi lunch on Tuesday to a Sci-Fi dinner on Monday so that I could stalk my DIS buddy Ann :tiptoe: Haha! I think that a good way to have the DISmeet we have always talked about is to have dinner around the same time so that we can meet up while we wait for our tables :thumbsup2 If she doesnt want me stalking her family, Ill change it back LOL! I added 50s Prime Time Café because Coy really wants to go there. I added T-Rex because both kids want to go there, I added Le Cellier because the kids and I love a good steak and I added 1900 Park Fare because it is on PhotoPass + So, thats sixteen meals! I havent done the math yet to see if it would be better to get the DxDP or to stick with the DDP and just pay out of pocket for several meals. So thats where I am right now! Decisions, decisions!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier, I have the flu, so I read your post in bed but didn't feel like responding. I had no idea we were so close in age! I turn 40 on March 5th!! :thumbsup2 I'll come back with more on your ADRs when I feel better!

HAPPY, HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY, ERIN!!! I am trying to insert the Happy Birthday smiley, but smilies are giving me an issue this morning! I love that True planned your birthday surprise! That was so awesome! I love the piggie cupcakes --- OMG I've got to find some like that. I think she did a nice job on the icing.....it doesn't matter what it looks llike, the fact that she did it herself is the special part. I love all your pictures, even if True was being silly.

So, you've rearranged your schedule so that you can stalk me??!! I LOVE IT!!! I cannot wait! It's gonna be so cool! We'll takes lots of pictures. I think I might change one of the ressies, but not THAT one. I forgot about putting Akersus into the mix, so I'll have to look at it again today and see what I can do. You reminded me of doing all the Photopass Plus meals, and that's a fun one. We'll see.

Aww - that is so sweet of True! What a little darling! Happy Birthday Erin!
:cake:

Thank you, Ann! I’m not sure if you have Harris Teeter in your neck of the woods, but that was where my coworkers got the piggy cupcakes. They were so adorable! True did a fantastic job on the party and I loved the icing on my cake! I tried to tell her not to be too hard on herself about stuff like that, but she can be a perfectionist like Mommy!

Big news! I got the 5:30 ADR at Sci-Fi on the 24th! We have an official DISmeet in the works! Were you able to fit in Akershus?

Aww - that is so sweet of True! What a little darling! Happy Birthday Erin!
:cake:

Thank you, Alysa! Yes, True is my sweetie pie!

Happy ADR Day to Me! Today was a much more productive day than I thought because I not only made my ADRs for August 24th, but I also made them for my ENTIRE trip because I finally booked!!! Yes, my present to myself today was to actually book my vacation! We are staying at…
…
…

You didn’t think it was going to be THAT easy, did you? A little more suspense…
…
…
OK, I’ll stop :lmao: We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside in Garden View Royal Guest Room! As wishy washy as I was being about choosing a resort, I really think I picked the right one. That resort is beautiful anyway, but I really think the pictures of the room I saw from Kelli’s trip (Lovemy3babes) put that resort in the lead. I can picture myself and my kids in a Royal Guest Room, enjoying all of the special touches that Disney placed around the room. It’s just so pretty and princess-y! princess: Yes, princess-y is a word! But I think that Coy will appreciate the room as much as True because even though it is princess-y, it is really cool too! As far as the tickets, I got 8-day Park Hoppers. No surprise there. I decided to do the DDP instead of the DxDP because #1 there is no way we can eat three meals AND two snacks a day, even if we do take most of the snacks home with us as souvenirs. #2 that plan comes with appetizers with every meal, but I only had five or six meals where they even offer appetizers, so that was sort of a waste. #3 and the most important reason was that it would have been over $1300 more to get that plan! I had to double check to make sure I was right! Um, no way were the three of us going to eat an extra $1300 worth of food in nine days! :rotfl2: So I will just pay out of pocket for several meals like Crystal Palace and Tusker House. But I am getting ahead of myself! I will break down which restaurants will be paid for out of pocket another time. For now, you want to see the ADRs, right? I got almost everything that I wanted at the exact times that I wanted for almost all of them! :cool1:

Saturday, August 24th – Before Park Opening breakfast at Crystal Palace; early dinner at Sci-Fi – which means that I finally get to meet Ann and her family in person! :yay: I am so excited that she is my first DISmeet! Ann, we’re going to have fun, buddy! And maybe embarrass the kids a little

Sunday, August 25th –Before Park Opening breakfast at Tusker House; late lunch at T-Rex

Monday, August 26th –Before Park Opening breakfast at Akershus; early dinner at Coral Reef

Tuesday, August 27th – early lunch at 50’s Prime Time Café

Wednesday, August 28th – dinner at Whispering Canyon Café

Thursday, August 29th –early breakfast at 1900 Park Fare; dinner at Garden Grill – this dinner is later than I wanted it, but I am just glad to have gotten the ADR for it!

Friday, August 30th –early breakfast at Chef Mickey

Saturday, August 31st –early lunch at Rainforest Café (the AK location); dinner at Le Cellier – this dinner wasn’t as late as I wanted it but, again, better than no ADR at all!

Sunday, September 1st –early breakfast at ‘Ohana; early dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table – once again, this was not at the ideal time for my preference, but who cares?!? It’s freaking Cinderella’s Royal freaking Table! :rotfl:

The only thing I didn’t get yet was Be Our Guest. Let me first say that I had a wonderful Cast Member on the phone helping me with my ADRs. I made the ADRs for Crystal Palace and Sci-Fi online at 6am this morning without any issue, so I thought maybe Disney had worked out the kinks in the online ADR system. Yeah…no. I booked my trip online later in the morning once I got to work. Then I tried to go from my resort reservation to making ADRs. I thought it was going OK because up to 10 days past my check-in date were highlighted on the calendar, so I thought that the site had linked my resort confirmation to the dining page. I guess not because I everywhere I checked when trying to make ADRs was supposedly booked! Yeah, right! There was no way in the world that T-Rex was booked from morning to night over 180 days in advance. Sorry, dude, but I couldn’t believe that. So I played around with different ADR dates until I was sure that the site just wasn’t going to let me book anything other than for August 24th. I called Disney Dining and was placed on hold at 12:24. They actually answered my call at 12:30! I was pleasantly surprised! I even told them so during the exit survey! :lmao: By 12:53, all of my ADRs were done. The CM was pleasant and personable, so it didn’t feel like I was on the phone for over 20 minutes. At my desk. When I should have been working  Hey, I was checking emails and stuff like that while I was doing this! Anyway, she said that Be Our Guest wasn’t loaded in the system yet. I kept myself from freaking out. That was one ADR that I really Really REALLY wanted!!! But so did everyone else! The CM told me to call back tomorrow to see if it had been loaded in yet, so I will do just that! Anyone else have this issue with BOG? If I can’t get BOG for dinner, I can always switch my Chef Mickey breakfast to a dinner and stand in line for BOG for lunch :thumbsup2 but I hope I don’t have to do that. Anyway, I am very happy about the ADRs I was able to get today and I think my kids and I are really going to enjoy these restaurants!

Update on the BOG situation: I still don’t have an ADR for that on the 30th, but apparently no one else does either. The CM I talked to this morning also said that BOG hasn’t released certain dates yet and I should just call first thing in the morning, every morning to check on it. I’m starting to think that they will only release the 180 days out, not 180 plus 10 for resort guests. So, I’m going to keep calling, but I am also going to fully anticipate not getting an ADR for BOG until March 3rd. I’ll let you guys know what happens :thumbsup2

YAY for booking and ADR's!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I'm extremely jealous that you and Ann get a DISmeet! OMG, burning up here with envy. Sure you don't want to go at the end of Feb 2014 too??? ;)

I would not only call, but try to do it online every morning as well! You could get lucky and have the site start working, and you can check that as you are waiting on hold!

Sending you lots of pixie dust for BOG!
pixiedust:

Just a leeettle tiny bit jealous of your ADRs. I am starting to worry we won't be able to be there at the same time as you. But I am thrilled for you and I know you know the pain of having to change dates to suit your circumstances.

YEAH!! Saturday, August 24th I'm meeting my buddy Erin & her peeps!! OMG! I'm beyond excited! I hope you are a hugger, because I intend on giving everyone in your family a hug!! EVEN COY!!! And I will want photographic evidence of him hugging me back!!! :cool1: I'm also excited that you are staying at POR even though you are not going to be down in the bayou with me, we may still see each other on Ole Man Island or Riverside Mill!!! Yahooooooo!!! Now, if only Karen would make a surprise visit to come see us, that would be cool! Hey Karen, you could sleep in our Murphy bed in our room!! :rotfl2: And yes, I know princess-y is a word. Who doesn't know that?

I hope you don't spend that huge tax refund all in one place. S-T-R-E-T-C-H it out, girl! I couldn't put all of the tax refund towards the trip as there was other things that needed to be paid up (Southwest Credit card anyone??) So, the trip balance right now is $1,299. So that's 13 bi-weekly pays at $100 per pay to pay it off. I'm short payweeks by 4, so I'll be having to figure out the budget to get those payments in by July 4th! We still haven't gotten our flights down booked yet as I'm waiting for a huge sale (most of our points were used for the return flights so we are building them back up!) :crazy2: Victoria and I went a little hog wild last Friday at the mall. Her hair alone was $103!!! She had it dyed very subtly and they straightened it. It looked so pretty. I just wish I knew how to use the flat iron as well as the hairdresser. Yeah, we went to the mall on Friday after her counseling session which I attended. Ugh. That little poop took the blade from a PENCIL SHARPENER to cut. I could not believe that!!! So, needless to say the session was pretty raw and draining. She needed some time with me and I with her so I called work and said I wouldn't be in and we took off to Portland. Rebels, aren't we?!!

Good luck with getting BOG. I'm just planning on doing the lunch stand in line thing. I think it's a good call on the DDP. I just can't imagine the time or the food involved with the Delux plan. I can eat, believe me, but that's just way too much!! I did end up nixing Cape May in favor for the Akershus Princess breakfast. We really did enjoy it last year! :p

Hey, if I can swing it, I will be there in Feb! You’re going to be there on my birthday, after all! I would LOVE to take a birthday trip! That’s a good idea to keep trying the website. I can do that before I leave for work and then, if I don’t get anywhere, try calling on my way to work :faint: It’ll be worth it, though, once I get that ADR! :thumbsup2

Are you a hugger? Because I’m a hugger! True is definitely a hugger, too. Coy used to be, so I will take pictures as you wrap your arms around him and he gives you a few polite taps on the back  Yeah, you and I have a lot of places where we might run into each other since we will both be at POR and we both will be in EP one night, too. I’m so excited! Good idea about Karen! She can spend a couple of nights in your room, a couple in ours. Wow, Karen, you’re all set for another vacation in six months! :lmao: Anyway, I’m glad you were able to fit in Akershus! If I have to do BOG for lunch, I think I’ll be OK with it because we’ll start standing in line at 10 am :rotfl: but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for dinner.

That is really nice that you and Victoria had a fun trip to the mall. My goodness, I can’t imagine how emotionally draining it would be to sit through a therapy session like that with one of my kids! I’m so glad that Victoria is opening up in therapy, though :goodvibes Yeah, you guys deserved to go a little wild! Do you have a picture of her hair after it was done? I’m trying to imagine it a little lighter and straight. I bet she looked so cute and grown up!

I almost didn’t call in this morning. I was driving into work, tired, in a cranky mood (I am SO not a morning person!) and I felt it was pointless… but I got an ADR for Be Our Guest! pixiedust: :yay: :cheer2: :cool1: party:

OK, I realize I should not be this happy about an ADR, but I am! :lmao: It’s the simple things in life, you know? :thumbsup2 So, I can turn off my alarm for 5:35am on Sunday morning and sleep in, knowing I got all of the ADRs I wanted!
