A Walt Disney World resort electrician was arrested Friday on charges of indecent exposure and lewd exhibition after Haines City police received complaints of a man masturbating near a school and community center.

Edgar Lenard Arnold Jr., 33, of Haines City, was sitting in a green Jeep Liberty watching pornographic videos and exposing himself, police said.

He was parked near Daniel Jenkins Academy, a Polk County public magnet school that focuses on environmental studies, and Haines City community center, both on Ledwith Avenue.

Arnold is being held without bail at the Polk County Jail. A Disney spokeswoman said he would be placed on unpaid leave while the matter is being investigated.

Yep, they have to jump on the bandwagon of the other stories that have happened recently and try to make it sound worse. It sucks, but people get arrested every day and they all work somewhere.

I like how they have to put that it is near a school too, there aren't many places in this country that aren't near a school :rotfl2: But, this guy obviously needs some help (or at least a place of his own).

Man Who Once Went to DISNEY Arrested for DWI

Bumsprings, AL. - A man who once visited Disney with his family in 1983 was arrested yesterday for an unrelated DWI while driving home in his black Ford F-150...

Man Who Once Drove Past DISNEY Arrested for Unpaid Taxes

Dunsmart, AZ. - A man who one drove past DISNEY while on Interstate 4 in 1997 was arrested Friday on charges of unpaid taxes...

HAHAHAHA don't know anyone that has been arrested but your comments were funny ... thanks

The usual--not just an electrician, but a DISNEY electrician..
My thought exactly . . . . again
Maybe we could evolve and not post every little story that would otherwise be just another news story.

They aren't even a news story! People just tried to make them one because the person works at Disney! It wasn't for that you wouldn't even be considered a story.

Sorry, but this isn't some media vendetta against Disney. A man masturbating in a car outside a school would make local news almost anywhere... and if he worked for a major local employer, it would be mentioned no matter what that employer was.

Now, thanks to the Internet, there's no such thing as a truly "local" story anymore, but I respect the legitimacy of this as a local news item. Most local papers have reporters whose sole job is to write about the interesting/horrible/weird arrests. The crime blotter is usually one of the best-read parts of these papers, and with good reason. People want to know what types of crimes are taking place within their communities -- and who is commiting them.

Very true; just seems to many that Disney is in the bad news right now, and linking the words "Disney" and "indecent exposure" or any other words suggesting malicious behavior only triggers a mental fear to some. I agree however, that its usual business to give their employer, especially for the degree of the arrest and the fame of the employer.

Well, that is the problem, the devil is in the details and they write the story to make it sound worse than what it is. If you only read the headline or glance through the story this is what you take from it. But in actuallity if you really read the story, the man was watching porn and masturbating in a car and there was a school nearby.....they were not related at all. The guy was not sitting outside of a school looking at the kids or something.

As for the major employer, not true....look at some of the largest employers in the nation and you don't see them called out when an employee is arrested. Coca Cola, Microsoft, etc etc.......news agencies are competing for ratings, don't forget that. Anything that will grab a few extra ratings will help make them jump on it. The disney employee accused of raping the woman at Disney World has made every news channel scramble looking for anything to further that cause and hopefully draw people in to boost their ratings.

This guy has some issues, but as I said before, tell me one place in your town that isn't within 5 miles of a school/park/community center/daycare or something else that they can use to make it look worse than it is.

Firstly, you're making assumptions about the case. Was he or was he not looking at children? The fact that he was looking at porn doesn't preclude anything else. For me, the fact that he's doing this near a school makes it very ugly, regardless of whether or not he was looking at children. You may be more tolerant of this than I; that is your own opinion -- but you can't, based on the facts of the case, proclaim to know who or what he was looking at and why.

Secondly, a simple Google search of any of the companies you mentioned along with the phrase "employee arrested" will reveal how very, very wrong you here.

Finally, why shouldn't the news want to boost its ratings? Ratings are viewers. Viewers are people. If people want to know this information, and it is true, why should it be kept from them?

Evolve on the Dis and not post every story?:lmao:

But then some would need to get a job or something lol.

If it matters they do the same thing with Sea World. Recent headlines include "Man Rapes todder at Sea World". (Guy went with this family to SW, toddler's mom asked guy to watch child while they were gone 10 minutes to ride a ride, guy molests 2 year old and gets caught with the video after the fact). The story actually had very little to do with Sea World, but hey let's make headlines!

I disagree, it had a lot to do with Sea World. They aren't culpable or negligent but it happened on their property and that is very important, IMO.

As for Disney being named I think that too is salient as they are a family oriented company with a squeaky clean persona, If some of the people are bad guys then I, as a parent, do want to know about it. It is true that employees of Walmart, Coca Cola and Kellogs probably have employees with issues too but these companies don't have the child friendly, squeaky clean reputation that the Mouse so likes to promote and make no mistake, the fact that Disney relishes and profits off of this reputation makes it a very real issue.

I don't think it had anything to do with Seaworld. "Sea World" was just used to grab attention for the story. (As if raping a 2 year old needs attention). From the story I read, the attack was not discovered at SW, the video of the act just showed a blue stroller. The child was not attacked by a SW employee (as with the Disney cases), the childs crys were not ignored by SW workers. As far as we know they child was not brought to SW just for the attack to occur. It was just a backdrop in the story.

And since when does Disney have a "squeaky clean persona?".:lmao:

With as many employees as they have, and with the rudimentary background checks they do, Disney will certainly have some people in their employ with a record--or personal "issues".

Along with every major company and organization out there----

RE: The squeaky clean persona, we disneyophiles may know this to be "hype" but the average or newbie is being sold this image very strongly.

Re: Sea World, I agree with all the facts as you've stated them but I'm telling you it is important to me that such a thing happened at Sea World and I'm a better informed parent for knowing this. You disagree?

I do disagree and for the reason you state. Now you have the thought in your head that a child was attacked at Sea World. The location has nothing to do with the attack, it could have happened anywhere. But now your thought may be "I should not take my child to Sea World as a child was attacked there".

Not exactly. I know the attack was at Sea World, I now am reminded that even the safest of places need caution. I will still go based on what I know but will possibly be more careful, even at a real safe place than I otherwise would have been. Good move or not?

Sea World wasn't responsible but it was the location of a heinous crime that I would not want happening to me because I didn't think it could happen at Sea World.

But that is just it, the location has nothing to do with it. The family brought the perv with them to the park. They trusted him enough to leave their child with him. He was so slick at this attack that he raised no eyebrows. (Although I am still trying to figure out how he was able to abuse this little girl and 10 minutes later there is nothing to cause Mom alarm). It is not about location, but rather about trust. Be careful whom you trust with your children.
