I don't know how to do an FE thread either. I was told sometimes folks go to Facebook and have cruise threads but I am pc illiterate and can't find anything at all.

I must confess, I've been working on stuff for an FE.... so I sure hope we can get one together!

FE GIFT EXCHANGE!

I think there are quite a few who want to do this - I know I do! - and I don't see anyone organizing it. I'll volunteer, but please know that I've not done this before....

If anyone else would like to participate, just reply to this post or send me a pm, I will update the list periodically. You don't have to have kids to participate, and the rule is, give as you want. In other words, if you'd like to give one gift per cabin, or gift to children only, or gift to adults only, or gift to each person individually, then thats what you do.

As we each find out our cabin number as our cruise approaches, post or pm that info along with the deck number and prior to our travel time, I will get a list to each of you.

I'm sure I need to know the following...

-- DISboard username
-- Cabin # (if you know it already)
-- Family Last Name (helps with personalizing family gifts)
-- First names of those participating, ages of kids in cabin and whether boys (B) or girls (G)
-- Favorite Disney character for each of the people in your cabin, if any (this helps if people make gifts specific to the people in the room)
-- Any special cruise celebrations
-- Any food allergies, etc

We've got a good list going, so IF it grows beyond 13 I'll begin a division into two groups. If anyone wishes to be in both groups (ALL IN!) I can do that as well. I know some out there are hardcore!!


If you are uncomfortable posting any of the personal information, you can simply say "Adult, Male" or "Girl, 8" for example. As families join, I'll keep a master list. That way, you can go back to that entry at anytime to see who all is in our group. The week after our cut-off has passed, I'll send a spreadsheet of all the info., or either post it to Google Docs or you can PM with your e-mail so I can send it to you.

If someone has done this before and would like to enlighten me on things that have really worked well, please feel free...I'm ALL EARS!

What Is An FE Gift Exchange?
FE gift exchanges were created by fellow Dissers a number of years ago. Outside the stateroom doors there is metal FISH Hook for DCL or others to attach important notes or such for you. As part of an FE gift exchange, participants hang a some type of hanging organizer, commonly known as a FISH EXTENDER. Some people make elaborate ones, others hang decorative bags ect. Participants in an FE gift exchange then secretly leave a small gift in the pockets of others Fish extenders. The gift exchange add's more magic to the cruise and It's a real treat to come back to your cabin to find a surprise in your FE!

I do have a question for those that have done this before.

I seen where other groups asked how many cabins you wanted in your group...example 1-5 cabins, 6-11 cabins and so on. Is this a usual practice? I would really love to participate however I would not want a large amount of cabins as it would take a great deal of time handing out gifts as I have read in other post. All suggestions are welcomed...as I have never done this before.

I think it could be split if it gets to be a large number of cabins -otherwise we'd be delivering the whole trip! Right now, it appears to be manageable based on those who have spoken interest. I'm definitely not opposed to 'keeping it real'!

We are officially a 'group'! I've got a list of TWO cabins so this thing is happening. I'm going to post a few reminders, not to be annoying, but to up my post count so I can use the boards as intended. I'm a restricted newbie so far and can't do a lot of communication. So bear with me!

I'd read here that y'all were thinking of "keeping it real"... A suggestion... have a cut off of either a dozen or two dozen cabins... then if more join up, start another group... that way it would be easier, less time consumming and not as expensive.

How many more days until our cruise??? TOO MANY!!!!
