Disney Dreamin for Beginners - Our First Trip to WDW Nov/Dec '08

He was warned!!! But even though it was a sunny day it was still quite chilly and I was worried he wouldn’t dry off quick enough and would end up not well too! He got a little huffy *** his zip up was drenched and he was cold!
Once it was finished we found a spot in the sun to sit just next to the little arcades outside the stadium but he just wasn’t drying. Everyone was saying they were hungry by now so we went to find food!
I can’t remember the name of the place where we ate as I don’t have any receipts for that day unfortunately but it was at the place where they gave out the free beer?
Anyway the kids had the usual nuggets meals and Mum and I had the Roast Turkey Sandwich meal and Paddy had Stew in a bread bowl which was all lovely although expensive at around $70 I think!
So we decided to head over to Shamu’s Happy Harbour and let the kids have a go on some of the little rides! Aaron had fell asleep by this point so we left him be.
The boys loved going on the Shamu express ride although I did get a row for taking a picture of the screen!

They did the frog hopper thingy (can’t remember what it was called sorry!LOL)

We bumped into this little fella!

These guys were keeping the crowds entertained!

Aidan and I went on this thing but cant remember what its called!

We decided to head round and do the Polar Express thing,
Paddy took Aaron to do the walk version and Mum and I took the big boys to do the Train version!
The boys really enjoyed this!
The boys got a surprise when they say who was waiting for them!

The polar express is one of our favourite Christmas films so they really enjoyed it all! We saw the lovely polar bears too!

We had a bit of a moment with Kieran when we came out as he wanted to spend $40 on a stuffed polar bear! I just thought that was ridiculous amount of money for a cuddly toy and it was ENORMOUS! He started to have a bit of a tantrum about it even though we were showing him the same one but smaller and thought that would settle it –but he was adament he was having the bigger one! I put my foot down and told him it wasn’t happening! I know it was his money but we still had another week to go and I just know there would be other things he would have wanted to buy! Anyway he eventually calmed down and listened to reason. He was very apologetic, he kept going on that there was something in the shop that he wanted to buy for us to say sorry, no matter how much we told him that he didn’t have to do that and to save his money he just was getting more upset so Mum took him into the shop to let him buy it!
Out he came with a mug each for us one with Mom and the other with Dad! It was really sweet and thoughtful but I just wanted him to save his money! Nevermind!
When we came out the boys had wanted to go see the Sharks so headed round there!

We had a little wonder in the gift shops but didn’t see anything much – I got a seaworld magnet for myself and a dolphin one for my sister.
We then decided to call it a day as it was nearlly 6pm anyway and we had an ADR at Chef Mickey’s at 7.55pm anyway!
We headed home to get freshened up and change into trousers as it was getting really cold by this point!

Ok so we found the Contemporary quite easily and parked up! We went inside and made our way to Chef Mickey’s there was a massive queue leading to what looked like the podium so we joined it. We got checked in and made our way to get our photo taken. Aaron was really tired and not in the mood for getting a picture taken so it was a bit of a disaster – needless to say when they came round with it later we declined buying it!
So we were taken to get seated which was just in across from the buffet area! It was soo busy but there was lots of food! I went to see what the food was like for the kids and while I was gone Mickey had been and gone to our table! GUTTED! So got thekids some pizza and nuggets and stuff to keep them going. Then Paddy and Mum went up for food! There was so much to choose from! Lots of salad, pasta, roast pork, beef, a chicken dish and I really can’t remember what else but we all agreed it was the best meal so far! I was worried that such a late ADR would be a bit of a disaster as the kids would be tired but this was certainly not the case! The character interaction was just amazing! The Characters all came round at least twice! So I got to see Mickey again!LOL The Characters were all fab with the kids! We had such a good time here we all left buzzing!
The pictures aren’t brilliant quality I’m afraid – don’t know what was up with the camera to be honest but here they are!

I’ve not had a chance to organise all my video footage yet but just thought I’d share this little clip with you all!


I love the fact that Aaron was clapping away to the music and the kids got into the napkin twirling!

All in all it was a fab night and it must have been after 10pm before we got home but we really had had and amazing day at Seaworld it was a really relaxing park to walk around and then Chef Mickey’s was the icing on the cake! We will definitely be back there!

Day 8 - Hollywood Studios again!

Tuesday 2nd December

Ok so today we were supposed to be going over to Hollywood studios after lunchtime and doing the park in the afternoon and staying until night to see Osbourne Lights and Fantasmic!
We got up in the morning I think it was around 7.30 and again we just took our time getting ready. It was a lovely sunny day but it was still a tad chilly out! We still had so much to see and everyone was desperate to get back to the parks so our late start ended up being around 10.30!
Off we trotted back to Hollywood Studios! We parked up in Music and jumped onto a tram taking us over to the entrance.
First thing on the agenda was the Indiana Jones show! The boys were desperate to see this so we scooted on over as it was due to start at 11.30.
We got quite good seats down the front , the casting director was then looking for volunteers to help out as “extras” Paddy had his hand up and we were all pointing in his direction but unfortunately he didn’t get picked! The show eventually began!

We all enjoyed this loads! Was really well done!
When we had finished we RAN all the way to the Jedi Training Academy, the boys were desperate to get picked! We explained it might not happen but they were just so excited about it! They had on their Jedi T-shirts I had made them today (although I don’t have any pics of them wearing those t-shirts as it was pretty cold that day and they had their jumpers on most of the time).

We were stood there for about 30mins before it started and right at the front. The boys were getting more and more excited as the music came on and got louder. Then these really pushy parents decided to push their kids in front of my boys! I’m really sorry but this was one of those moments that really got my back up! If they were desperate for their kids to be picked then they should be there early like everyone else!
The Jedi Master came out and the crowd erupted! They boys were about wetting themselves with excitement!LOL

Then you guessed yet more parents started pushing and shoving kids in front of my lot! I was getting soo annoyed by this point! My boys had their hands up and were jumping up and down begging to be picked and low and behold every one of the kids that had been pushed in front of us got picked!
This resulted in Kieran getting extremely upset and running away from us! It was a rather scary moment as it was absolutely heaving that day and we panicked a bit when we couldn’t see where he had went! We eventually found him hiding over by the star wars shop!
I know there is no guarantee that your kids are going to get picked I totally get that, and I did explain that it might not happen to the kids but having ADHD and being Autistic they find these things difficult to deal with at times and having spent such a long time ( for my kids) waiting very patiently for it to begin and then having other kids push in front of them as it starts is quite hard for anyone to get to grips with let alone kids with additional needs. So that kind of spoiled things slightly.
Anyway once we managed to calm them down a bit we managed to convince them to head over to the Lights Motor Action show.
As we walked over Aaron had fell asleep, we asked a cast member if there was any way of bringing the buggy in with us as he had fell asleep but it was a big NO! So Paddy took the boys and Mum and I took a wander to see what was in the streets of America area!

We spotted the Power Rangers but it was too late for the boys as they were just finishing up and wouldn’t be coming back until much later- we never told them we saw them mind you! The way my guys were loving Autograph hunting they would have been devastated to have missed out!LOL
We had a good look in the shop heading over towards Backlot tour – I can’t remember what it was called then we had a water and a seat by the little fountain while Mum phoned home.
The boys called to say they were making their way out! They really enjoyed it , they didn’t get many photos though:

We found them and then made our way to meet Mike and Sulley! Sulley was away on a break at this point though so we only got to meet Mike

Then we figured out where Lightning McQueen and Mater were so we went round to Luigi’s Garage to meet them!

Aaron had just woke up so he wasn’t really in the mood to meet anyone really!

We walked back through Pixar area and the boys were really desperate to do Toy Story Mania again so we used the GAC again to do this and it was still as fun as the first time! We all agreed this was our favourite family ride!
By this time it was nearly time for our ADR at Hollywood and Vine for our Fantasmic Package!
So we headed on over and we saw the end of the Block Party Bash as we went! We got there a little early but we thought we would see if we could get taken just now….and WE DID! Result!
We headed in…we really liked the theming of this restaurant!
Unfortunately the kids menu didn’t have much that my lot wanted to eat and the really lovely server ( who I can’t remember her name! Whoops!) said “Well what would they eat?” I said they love sausage or hot dogs! “ Three hot dogs and fries coming right up” she said!
It was soo lovely of her and we really appreciated it. We always feel embarrassed going out for meals with the kids as they are the fussiest of fussy kids! But she really made us feel at ease and told us it was no big deal!

The food was nice here and plenty of choice! But considering the kids were being really fussy we decided that we were going to cancel the rest of our ADR’s as it was a lot of money to waste if they weren’t eating!
SO all done here we still had plenty of time before we had to be over at the theatre for Fantasmic! I really really wanted to meet Sorcerer Mickey as he was my Favourite! I loved Fantasia as a kid and to me that’s Mickey Mouse!
Oh yeah before that though we got a magic shot done with Stitch as Kieran was desperate to ask about it!

So we went over to the animation studio and watched the thing with Mushu first! A little bit boring for my guys but it didn’t last too long. We came out and the boys noticed the Characters from the new Bolt Movie straight away!
The queue was hidden though so we just headed on over not realising how long it was! We must have waited for an hour to see them! This really lovely American Guy with his little boy got chatting to Kieran and asking him lots of questions about where he was from and if he had been to Disney before and what his favourite bit was so far! So that helped pass the time *** Kieran likes to talk!LOL
Anyway we are so glad we waited as these guys were the most fun yet! They were running around chasing the kids and having great fun with them! That’s why it took so long as they spent so much time with each kid!

I was panicking a bit by now as I was desperate to Meet Sorcerer Mickey so I left Paddy and the boys and headed over to that line, by the time they had finished it was our turn! So the boys, Paddy and I met Mickey!
Mum and Aaron were away to toilet so they missed it unfortunately.

We managed to quickly squeeze in a meet with Mr Incredible too!

And then rushed round to the Fantasmic Theatre!

So we got to the theatre –boy is it a long walk round!LOL and we got directed to our reserved seating area.
The seats here are not too bad actually and we were seated about half way up!
The kids spotted the cast members selling all the light up ears and things so Paddy took them to buy some bits, so we got 2 sets of light up ears, the light up rings and a light up tinkerbell for me!
We had lots of fun taking pictures of each other:

Everyone was wearing them and all you could see was a sea of light up mickey ears and rings around the theatre.
We were really enjoying ourselves despite it being absolutely freezing!LOL That was until this old couple behind us started to be really nasty to the kids!
They were talking amongst themselves (but for us to be able to hear) saying that it was out of order that we were all wearing these, how on earth were they supposed to see etc.
I mean for Goodness sake – we were in Disney! They wouldn’t sell them directly before the show if they didn’t expect people to wear them would they?
I was starting to get really annoyed and then the man kicked Aidan in the back! Aidan started screaming so badly I thought he must have really hurt him! I asked him what happened and Aidan said the man kicked him- ok so it could have just been an accident but the man was s******ing and didn’t apologise so I knew it wasn’t an accident!
I turned to him and said, excuse me but you have just kicked my son and have really hurt him… he then said to me….Now this I couldn’t believe!
“ Well you evil people are blocking our view with your stupid lights!” Well I swear to God, Mum and Paddy nearlly had to hold me back I was that angry!
I just said “ Well if you think that, then Disney must be evil for selling them to us evil people!” I just didn’t know what to say I was sooo angry!
I’m not a confrontational person at all but no-one gets to behave that way to my kids or us, Paddy just said to him – “ Excuse me Sir – but I think you should remember where you are! This is Disney a place for excitement and happiness not grumpy old men that like to spoil childrens days!”
I just burst out laughing!
But OMG was I just sooo angry my blood was boiling and my heart pounding in my chest with rage but I just wanted to enjoy Fantasmic as I had been really looking forward to that!
Anyway enough about that….the show began!
This was absolutely AMAZING we were chittering throughout but we just loved every minute of it – it really makes you smile from ear to ear!

We left the theatre and headed out to find the buggy and then wanted to see the Osbourne Lights before he headed home!
But first we walked through Pixar Place and noticed that Buzz and Woody were still meeting so we hopped in there first!
These guys were sooo much fun with the boys!

We were then met with these most amazing lights!

It was amazing how they moved to the music! It was all so Christmassy and we just loved it, it was a beautiful end to the day!

We didn’t hang around too long though as it was sooo cold that night and the kids were chittering and Aaron was just desperate for his bed!
So we headed on out of the park! We popped by Publix on the way home to get wrapping paper and selotape and cards for Aaron’s birthday and then went home and wrapped his pressies before watching a bit of tv and then bed!

Day 9 - Aaron's 3rd Birthday at Magic Kingdom

Wednesday 3rd December – AARON’S 3RD BIRTHDAY!

Ok so today was Aaron’s birthday and we had planned a day at Magic Kingdom, we originally had a ADR for dinner at Crystal Palace today but we decided that because the kids weren’t eating all that much to cancel it and just eat counter service!
So we had ordered a cake from Publix for Aaron! We had wanted a cake with Tigger and Pooh , Mickey or Lightening McQueen on it but the type of cakes that they are its like little plastic toys that make the “theme” of it and they were sold out of all the Disney “boys” characters so we settled for Big bird and Elmo! Aaron doesn’t have a clue who Big Bird is but he knows Elmo!
So Paddy went round when Publix opened to collect the cake it was $22.99 according to my receipt.

The birthday boy still wasn’t quite himself and was still a little grumpy! We decided to give him his presents first:

He seemed quite pleased with what he got and to be honest he is only 3 so doesn’t need all that much and the fact it was Christmas in 3wks time he was sure to get plenty then!
So we got everyone showered and dressed (except Aaron) then decided even though it was only something like 10am that we would do his birthday cake now! We had planned to stay late at the park tonight so that Mum and Aaron could see Wishes ( as they hadn’t seen it on Sat) and to see the Spectromagic parade so there wasn’t much other time to do it really!

As you can see Birthday cake for Breakfast went down a treat!! He loved his cake and so did we – it was very very yummy!!!!
We then got Aaron dressed in his special Birthday T-shirt I had made him ( sorry he still wasn’t in the mood for posing for pics so this is the best your gonna get!LOL)

We all then got packed up for the day ahead and headed on out to Magic Kingdom!
We got parked up and then decided that today we were going to take the Ferry over to Magic Kingdom!

It was a lovely sunny day but still quite cold even for coming up to lunchtime! But the view of the Castle from the boat still made me well up!LOL
We headed straight for City Hall to cancel the ADR for today and also for the one we had for O’Hanas on our leaving day and to get Aaron’s birthday badge! He wasn’t too keen on wearing it so I attatched it to his hat!
Paddy really wanted to have a look in the watch shop so we decided to have a quick look. Aaron had spotted the balloon seller though and was shouting for one! Well its his birthday after all…why not!
I thought they were so cool the Balloon inside a balloon!

Although as the day got on it did become quite annoying to carry around!LOL
We spotted a photopass photographer outside the shop and decided to see if we could get the tinkerbell magic shot done.
So we got one with the two big boys( Aaron still not playing for photos I’m afraid!) and then Mum and I got one each done. I wasn’t too keen on mines and Mums just seemed too much light or something? Here you can judge for yourselves:

We also got a group photopass pic taken but the sun was directly in our eyes so it was hard to “pose”LOL

In fact all the photopass pics we had done in front of the castle that day weren’t my favourites and unfortunately that was the only other day we had pics done! Never mind there is always next year!LOL

We decided to watch a bit of the Dream along with Mickey show – the kids loved this! We then wanted to head round in the direction of toontown! This afterall was Aaron’s day so ToonTown and Fantasyland were the priority today!
We spotted another photopass photographer over by the bridge between fantasyland and tomorrowland and decided to get a few variations of pictures taken! Hey we had pre-ordered why not!LOL

Again the sun was in our eyes!

So we headed on over to ToonTown

we headed for Goofy’s Barnstormer first. Aaron screamed the whole time so needless to say we didn’t do that again – although the big two loved it!

We then went over to Minnie’s house! It was packed the queue to get around it was massive and going sooo slow!

Mums a wedding dress maker so she loved “using” Minnie’s sewing machine!

So after that we wanted to head into Mickey’s house but both Aaron and Aidan were having mini meltdowns – over what I cannot remember so Mum and Kieran went in on their own!
What a messy mouse Mickey is!LOL

We had a wonder over to the Judges tent as I really wanted to meet Tinkerbell but the wait was 90mins so I wasn’t going to wait that long!

We headed out of Toontoon and we saw the Mad tea party! We all enjoy these kind of rides so this was our next port of call!
Paddy and the boys went on one and Mum, Aaron and I on the other!

Next up was the winnie the pooh ride!

Then Snow White ride!

We then took a little break for a pretzel/ice cream and drink! While we were sitting down Kieran spotted a merchandise cart which had pin lanyard starter sets! He noticed the Stitch one and he begged and pleaded to get it. We had split the kids spends up into $20 per day. The starter kit was $45 but he understood that when his money was gone that was it! So off he went very pleased with himself ! You will see from further pics that he hardly took it off from then on!LOL
Dumbo was the next stop! The queue for this was ridiculously long and the boys (well apart from Kieran ) were desperate to have a go! SO we used the GAC again and only had a 15min wait which was good.

We saw that there was no queue at Mickey’s Philharmagic and I really really wanted to do this, the boys grumbled a bit as they thought it was just a stupid show! Boy did they eat their words!LOL
We had to wait around a bit inside before being allowed to sit so we took a few pics while we waited!

WOW this was AMAZING! The boys were killing themselves laughing all the way through – even Aaron!
They loved the 4D effects and kept reaching out for the bubbles or the things coming out of the screen! Was a great thing to see – them all smiling and laughing!
BY this time it was nearlly time for the Dreams come true parade so we walked round to Liberty Square to see if we could get a spot. We did want to see it from Main St but there was no point walking all the way down there when we still had things to do up this way!

We got a great little spot across from the Hall of Presidents I think it was! Right at the front of the rope!
This was a fab parade! We really enjoyed watching it ! We saw lots of Characters! Paddy was pleased to see his Hero Robin Hood there!LOL

Sorry there are soo many but I just couldn’t choose a few!LOL
We then did Peter Pan’s flight ( sorry no pictures – well except this one!)

And then we had to do it….just to say we had! It’s a small world! The queue for this was ridiculous! 2hrs for the standby!!!! We again used the GAC but still had a wait of around 20mins!
No pictures although Paddy did video it but I’ve still to sort the footage out!
By this time we were all starving! So we headed next door to Pinocchio Village Haus, We ordered 2 pepperoni pizzas, a cheese pizza, 2x chicken nuggets and fries meals, 2xsprites, a coffee and chocolate milk which came to $43.14. We all just shared really and a bit of everything! It was actually all quite good!
We decided to then go back round to Frontierland! By this time it was getting dark. Aaron had fell asleep and the boys were desperate to do splash mountain!
I really wanted to do this too but it was sooo cold by this point I really didn’t think it was such a good idea for any of us to go on and get wet and not be able to dry off as we still had Wishes and Spectro to see!
But Paddy wasn’t caring about getting wet so off he,Kieran and Aidan went! We stod on the little bridge hoping to see them come down the mountain but it was just way too dark for us to make out who was coming down! I did manage to get one little picture as they were coming off!

We walked back through to Liberty Square, Kieran and Aidan both wanted to try Haunted Mansion again, so Mum took Aaron to look in the shops and we said we’d call her when we were done.
We got slightly further this time! Into the room before the ride! But before they got a chance to shut the doors they both started crying saying they wanted to leave! So off we went again! Don’t think we are going to do Haunted Mansion this trip!
We came out and called Mum she was on the hunt for a Grumpy Plush for me to give to Paddy! She finally found one at the snow white ride shop!
We all walked down towards the castle it was sooo busy! The castle lighting show was on so we headed over towards the bridge at tomorrowland and found a spot on that side!

I love seeing the castle lit like this! That’s the only thing I will miss about going in October next year seeing it all lit up!
We still had a bit of a wait before spectro but we had such a good spot we didn’t want to leave it. By this time it was pretty cold so I walked down to the entrance where we had put extra jumpers and things in a locker when we came in to get them!
I’l tell you it was a task and a half trying to walk down Main St and even worse trying to get back up! It was sooo busy with people camping out for the parade!
By the time I got back up we only had to wait another 15mins before the parade had started!

Absolutely loved it!
Ok so when this finished things started to go a bit mental and the crowds were moving out so we thought we would try moving towards Main St so that we were a bit closer to the exit after Wishes!
We were so lucky as we got to Casey’s Corner they were marking out the walkways and we managed to get the exact same spot we did last time – perfect view! Kieran got chatting to some kids and that passed a bit of time. Then Aidan and Aaron were hungry so Paddy went over to Casey’s corner and got them a couple of hot dogs and Mum, Me and him a hot chocolate to heat us up!
We didn’t take any more pictures of Wishes this time as we just wanted to enjoy it! Mum and I were bawling our eyes out by the end! It was just as good the second time as it was the first for me!
We decided to just take our time and have a look up and down the shops on our way out!
We went over to the Emporium – WOW everyone had the same idea it was mobbed!!!
Aidan really wanted to get more cuddlies with his money so he bought a Mickey and Minnie because he was spending a certain amount we got the option to buy special fleece blanket with the Castle all lit up on it, so you know…..I just had to!!!
I love my blankie! I use it every night to cuddle up on the couch! I will try to remember to take a picture of it and post it at the end of the report!
We went into the bakery and got some bags of sweets for the kids to take back to their classmates and then headed for the monorail!
We got home about 10.30! We had a really fab day! The only thing being is that even though it was Aaron’s birthday we didn’t really feel like we celebrated it much! He slept for a huge part of the day but we did manage to get a lot done in fantastyland which was good and lots of Cast Members wished him a Happy Birthday and commented on his Special T-shirt as well as the kids Pirates of the Caribbean t-shirts!
All in all a successful day!

Day 10 - Epcot World Showcase

Thursday 4th December

Ok so where did we get to?? Oh yeah this was our day scheduled for Epcot World Showcase!
As it didn’t open until 11am we took the opportunity to have a lie in this morning after having a late night last night!
I did a bit more cleaning around the house and sorted my washing. The washing was starting to become a bone of contemption with us all as no matter what I done all the washing was coming out of the machine with a I don’t know how I would say this but “ oose”? all over everything! It was driving me mad! A lot of clothes got ruined with that washing machine, as well as the “oose” a few things were dyed when there was nothing in the machine that could have done this – who knows? But it was really annoying!
Today Paddy really wanted to try a beer in each different country, which would require me to drive!
Mmm ….I was extremely nervous about this – more so for the monster of a car we had to drive!
So I said I would drive round from the House to the Clubhouse as we had to use the internet to check the online banking and then go get fuel, and if it felt ok then I would continue!
So off we went! I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved loved loved this car!!!!! Even though it was HUGE I felt surprisingly at ease!
So once we were done at the Clubhouse and we had been through the novelty that is getting fuel- I set off up the US27 and managed to get to Epcot without any accidents or wrong turns!! Woohoo!!
Suitable parked we set off for World Showcase – Paddy extremely pleased that he will be able to sample the delightful beers of the world!LOL
We got a few photopass pics taken on the way into World Showcase.

We then decided to take a few pictures by the Christmas tree! The kids had a go at taking pics as well! Also a lovely lady offered to take a picture of us all together which was really nice of her!

So after our wee Kodak moments we headed round to the Refreshment port as the kids were hungry we thought we just get them something from McDonalds just now so we wouldn’t have to stop to eat until much later!
