Hi all,

Well we have returned from the Dream!

The Dream is a beautiful ship.

Now lets start the trip report, I may add more if i run out of time or if you need anything answered, so here goes!

We left Phoenix, AZ on June 22 on a 6 am flight. We arrived at Bay Lake Tower using our DVC points to stay for 2 nights before the cruise. We did book a studio the first night and a 1 bedroom the second night(we had to use points we had left) We got to the resort about 5 pm after landing about 340 pm. Checking in was flawless and went right to the room. It was a nice studio, definately smaller than the one bedroom we usually get and would get the next day.

We went and caught the bus to DTD since it was late and to have dinner at T-Rex using the DDxDP. We looked in the shops and then went to dinner about 730 pm. Dinner was amazing! Since we were on the deluxe dining plan, we got appitizers, entree and dessert-too much food! After dinner, we looked around some more, then back to the room since we had been up since 130 am AZ time.

The next day, we checked into our 1 bedroom at BLT. the room was not ready yet at 8am, so we walked to MK. We went to fantasyland and rode the new dumbos 3 times in a row with practically no wait, and both dumbos were in operation, one clock-wise, one counter clock-wise! Look at the entrance in the ground as you enter and you will even see peanut shells! Went on more rides, then to Crystal Palace for lunch. Very nice lunch! right after that I received a text that our room was ready for us. we stayed in the park a little while longer, riding big thunder, pirates, etc. Went back to the room about 3pm to get stuff in order. Love the one bedroom at BLT, always have. Went to dinner at chef mickeys(my favorite place!), then back to MK for the evening.

the next morning, we took the Magical express bus back to the airport to get on the bus to go to the port. I know some dont like to to it this way, but we do. this way we get there earlier than waiting until noon or so for a pick up at the resort. we got to the airport by 930 and got all checked in. the bus left by 10 to go to the port.

We entered the port lobby and it was a bit crowded. i inquired about upgrading our 8B cabin and there were no upgrades avail at the time. We had boarding number 9 and they were already boarding number 7 when we arrived. we had just enough time to go outside, look at the ship and take a few photos in front of it, then when we came inside it was time to board already!

The ship is amazing, so beautiful! love the chandelier in the lobby. We went to cabanas for lunch and had a seat by the window. Food was pretty good. we then went to the conference room to get our credentials for podcast cruise 3.0 and met a few of the podcasters. After that, we went to find our cabin, 9154, in the aft of the ship. as we got there, they just let the rope down to go inside. we were right off the aft elevator entrance, so that was nice. I walked in and found happy birthday banners up in the room, and hanging from the ceiling that my wife and daughter arranged since it was my 46th birthday on boarding day, along with a cake as well! The room was a very nice size, being the deluxe family room with a big porthole you could stand in, which my daughter did!

we went to the vibe to check my DD16 into the teen club. I loved the entrance with the lights, and inside is amazing! I was so jealous, the room they had and the hot tubs outside were so amazing. they gave her a new room card that said vibe on it so she had access to get in.

When we pulled out, it started to rain, so they moved the sail away party inside, which we did not go to, i wanted to watch us leave so we went to top deck and i took photos. then the rain really came down so we had to go inside. :(

we got ready for dinner at enchanted garden, which was a nice place. the issue i had is i like just plain old steaks or burgers or something like that. there was a lot of vegetarian or seafood on the menu and basically only 1 or 2 steak items i saw. I did not get any appetizers for myself, as i saw none to my liking, but my family all found things the like. the meal was good, as was the waitstaff. After dinner, we went to the show, villians tonight, i was not so impressed with it as other disney shows. this was our 6th cruise, 1st on the dream, with the other 5 on the wonder. it was ok, but if i would have missed it, it would have been ok. After dinner, we went to check out the clubs and the ship for a bit before turning in for the night. We went to evolution, which is really high energy and fun, they checked out Pink, the champange bar, i wanted to try the special pink champagne they had for sale on the ship. the bottle is about $100, so i was able to get a glass for $20, glad i got a glass, im not a big drinker, but the $20 glass tasted almost like a $5 bottle to me, so needless to say i didnt buy a bottle to take home. we then went to Skyline, where the scenes change, not very crowded but nice. the menu was really neat. when you open it, it lights up like an ipad, then shuts off when closed.

day 2 to come.......

ok, lets try day 2, monday....had a great nights sleep in the cabin. woke up around 6 or 7 and went up the elevator to cabanas for breakfast, this was where staying in the aft worked out well, just up to deck 11 for food. some people have complained that they dont like the elevator in the rear makes you walk through cabanas, didnt bother me at all anytime. after eating, my wife wanted to do the disney castaway cay 5k, her first one ever. she had been running at home for a few weeks to get ready. i wanted to do it as well, but had to stop do to a sore foot and then sore knee. i was bummed. We went to 687 to register her and she was so happy, got a bib with a number and everything. about 845 we went outside and the group got together for a picture, and goofy showed up as well! We then had to walk to the start line, which was like a warm up since it was over by the bike rentals. they took off and she made it back in 45:00 mins exactly, we thought not bad for never doing one......and she was not last! I did see some sprinters come back in about 18:00 mins, they were so tired! I was so proud of her doing this. they gave her a mickey medal as well when she crossed the finish line. I bought her a 5K shirt at the gift shop right next to the track and she loved it. After that, our daughter went to check out the teen hangout, and we headed back towards the ship, stopping at the gift shops, getting shirts and then on the beach to take pictures with the ship in the back ground. We then walked back to the ship, taking pics all the way back and had the disney photo people take some as well. Once we were in the room, we got cleaned up and then went up to cabanas for lunch. After that, i went to put my swimsuit on to try the aqauduck, i was bummed i could not ride it alone as they said it was too windy, and my wife had the camera to take pics of me in the tube. so we walked around the ship, went to the adult area and into the hot tubs. they were very nice. they also have a glass area that looks down from the ship which was really neat. while over there, a coast guard helicopter landed next to the ship, and they brought out a man on a stretcher and they left. i got pics of it all. we walked more around the ship and made it to the aft and found the goofy golf, so we gave it a try. you can play as max or goofy and they have dotted lines on the green for whom you want to be. it was fun! We then went to the future cruise desk to rebook while onboard to get the 10% off, $100 stateroom credit and only 10% down payment. we probably will try a 7 night in june 2014 for my birthday again, but dates only go to dec 2013, so we booked a dummy date in dec 2013 which we were told to change when the dates come out for what we want, we have done this before and had no problems doing this. We then went back to the cabin to get ready for dinner at Royal palace, as we had early dining. My wife and i did not eat as we had dining at palo later that night, but went to be with our daughter. After dinner, we went to the stores and bought some shirts and a collectable piece i wanted of the disney dream ship you can only buy on the ship made by olzewski, it is very nice and lights up like his other pieces, then back to the room so we could change for palo, me in a suit, my wife in a very formal dress and went to palo. we got right in. Place was a lot darker than palo on the wonder. the waiter stated they do northern italian food here now, which is not having pizza or pasta dishes, i was bummed! I didnt get any appetizers, but my wife did. i will say the pizza bread they brought out was great though! Dinner was good, not great to me, but good. Would probably do it again, but maybe an earlier time to be able to see outside since it was dark at 830, we could not see out at all. After dinner, we visited evolution and met some of the podcast cruisers. It was fun meeting new people. we got in about 11 or 12 and were on our way to nassau.

Day 3 to come.......

Day 3-Tuesday-Nassau

Didnt do a whole lot this day as we have been to Nassau before, so we just woke up and had breakfast. It rained a little off and on, and later in the day it really poured. It was neat to be in Cabanas and watch the ship back in and see the other ships already in port, 2 from carnival, and one from NCL i believe. If i remember, i think we went to the walt disney theater and watched the avengers in 3D. after that,we went to lunch at royal palace, which was very good. at 2pm, we had a podcast event, the history of the DIS with pete werner, it was very interesting, that lasted 2 hours. went to d-lounge to see about bingo which we had played on the wonder. the average price was $50! so i took the plunge and decided to play. well what do you know, i won game one, $82! so i got my money back plus $32. on game 2, i won again, i could not believe it, $90, all profit now. did not win the next 2 but i was ahead $122 so no complaints. by then, it was time to wind down and get ready for dinner at animators palate. I love the look of it, very bright and colorful. They have crush on the screen talking to tables, but ours was too far away to talk to us, so i didnt care for that, we had no interaction at all, so on the other side, i like the other animators on the wonder better, at least they have a show for everyone. Went and did more shopping after dinner, and then went to see Brave in 3-D. Wonderful film again. made my wife and daughter cry at the end. After the show, just more shopping, walk around the ship on deck 4 and up top, and into evolution to see what was going on before bed time.

Day 4 to come......

Day 4-Wednesday-Sea Day

got up early and ate at cabanas. At 9 am, we had a podcast event. The Art of Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily, 2 imagineers from disney. I think i learned a lot, love their artwork. At the end they had a drawing for 3 prizes and i won one of them. a collectable figuiro cat pin that they designed. After the show, we got to meet them. they pulled out the original artwork that was used to create the pin and showed me. they autographed the box for me, and i had also bought a collectable in the parks before the show, an old still cup from wdw in a box, they also signed the box and cup for me and took a picture with us afterwards. On our way out, I ran into Pete Werner, creator of the DIS boards and chatted with him for a few and got a picture with him as well.

After that, we had a castaway club meet and great that they do on 4 night or longer cruises. they gave us free mamosa, fruit, etc. we got to talk with some senior officers, see captain mickey and talk with captain henry of the dream and take photos. it was fun, but the way they used to do it was a lot better i think. WE then went to lunch at royal palace where it was great.

IMG_6553.jpg

After that, we had another PC 3.0 event-the stateroom crawl! that was so much fun, we got to see others cabins and what they were like, including the Walt Disney Suite. i loved the view from the deck they had over the front of the ship, and you could see into the teen club. Loved the private hot tub on deck as well. I was told it was about $3000 per night, so unless i win the lottery, i guess i wont be staying there anytime soon. There were other rooms as well that looked really nice and had great views, something to think about for next time.

IMG_6619.jpg

Later that day, we went on deck 4 to take pictures over looking the walking area on the ship, just a place to relax. the water was so blue. then it was time to get ready for dinner at animators palate again, this time for pirate night. It had a special menu, but nothing too exciting. after dinner the show was the magic and illusion of Mike Super. that was a really great show. he was amazing. its funny, the next day, my daughter got in the elevator with him returning from CC, and she says she did not have anything with her name on it, and he said HI Meghan! she was shocked. and then he knew she went to the show the night prior and what her fav trick was. she could not believe this. We went up top to see a little of the pirate party, didnt stay for much, then did more shopping-again. Later, we went up top to watch the fireworks which are always very nice. then just more walking around, looking at shutters at our pics to buy, and to evolution to see what was up before bed.

Day 5-Thursday-Castaway Cay

My wife decided to do the 5k run again, my daughter went with the teen club to do the Wild Side, and i went to the podcast recording at 9 am. A lot of people showed up for the taping. it was really neat to watch them put it together and see how its done. My wife came in about halfway through the taping after her 5K. Afterwards, we went to the cabin to get cleaned up for our group picture of PCC 3.0 at noon. There were a lot of people for that one. We managed to be right by corey, pete, Julie, and walter. of course, we did buy the picture! My wife had a spa treatment at 130 for 90 mins, so i went up to the aquaduck for a second try at riding it. Ill admit, i was scared going up the stairs, as i dont like heights, but i made and rode it , it was so much fun, i did it again immediately. I went and got my camera and took pics off the top deck of CC. afterwards, back to the cabin and when my wife returned, she went on the aquaduck and i got a lot of pics of he in the tube. We then went to the 4 pm showing of Disney's Believe show, it was nice, but i think again i could have skipped it.

IMG_7018.jpg

We got ready for our last dinner at enchanted garden, it was ok, again, nothing i could not live without on the menu. Afterwards, we walked around the ship, bought our pics at shutters-yes, we got suckered into the 10 for $149 because there were so many nice ones. walked up on deck, stores, and clubs.

Day 6-Friday-Debarkation Day

Woke up early, about 530 am and we were in port. made sure we were ready to go. at 7, they announced we could leave so we just left the ship, we opted not to do breakfast that morning. after getting out of customs, we were using disney transport to go to boardwalk villas. we got right in a van and left. we checked into our room which was not ready and went to hollywood studios. did some rides and had lunch at sci-fi. we went back to our room since it was ready now, and had a message, we had forgotten a bag at the port!! there were already sending it to us, and i called bell services whom had not had it yet but would watch for it. about 5 mins later, they had it and brought it to the room. it was a duffle bag with all the girls formal dresses in it! we all had our suitcases, so we just forgot about the bag. Disney came through in getting it right to us! We then went to epcot for the rest of the night, i ran into a friend from CA there i grew up with and we hung out. then had dinner at rose and crown, very good, then back to room to make sure bags were ready for the plane ride home the next day.

Day 7-Saturday

we went to beaches and cream at 730 for breakfast, then back to room to await magical express to go to airport. on the way home, we had a layover in atlanta, and then that flight was overbooked, so voluntered to give up our seats for a hotel stay in atlanta-quality inn-there was no quality there!, food and $400 travel voucher for each of us for next time. We made it home sunday by 10 am with the time change and it was time to unpack.

what a great time it was and im sure i left out a lot right now.

hope you enjoyed this!

Joining in! We lived in Tucson for 5 years and loved it, except for the wildlife.

Sounds awesome, joining in! I'm still in the post-Disney depression since coming back from PCC 3.0, but perhaps reading this TR will help...
