Hello! We are planning to take the Spain/Portugal cruise on the Dream in July 2024. We thought it might be fun--and a little cheaper than our usual 4A cabin--to try the 4Es on Deck 5. We generally prefer forward and a starboard cabin, so that's our focus right now.

Right now, 5528 through 5540 are all open. I've seen threads saying good things about these cabins in general, but I'd love to know if anyone has stayed in them recently, and if any cabins in that range are particular favorites? Thanks in advance!

We just stayed in 5536 in May, absolutely loved that extended verandah! We got it on a VGT rate so didn't get to pick the room, I don't think there's much difference between it and the others in that section. The only difference I can think of is that some have a curve to the verandah which means the people in the room next door could see into your verandah - it's hard to explain, but if you can zoom into a photo of the side of the ship you might be able to see it.

I have a couple of photos in my trip report (link) - 5536 had dividers on each side so you had privacy to the left and right, but it's worth knowing that the rooms above can see into the furthest out part of these verandahs!

We stayed in 5530 on the Fantasy in Jan. It slept 3. We enjoyed it. Nice and quiet.

Thank you so much, Louise97--funny, I read and loved your trip report, but somehow I didn't make the connection. Very happy to see the photos and hear that you loved the cabin!

We have stayed in several of these cabins on the fantasy. Loved them all. Our only issue was having the first cabin with the extended balcony (5026) on an 8 night cruise and the wind was so bad that it made the balcony unusable when sailing at top speed.

Not sure if 5052 is open on your cruise but it has an extra extra large balcony (like 6x normal size). We got it with a VGT rate and it was an amazing surprise! The location was awesome as it was a quick walk to decks 2, 3, 4 and 5 activities and we didn’t find the location too loud even though it was by the elevators. Also we liked that there was a restroom down the hall near the movie theater as we had 4 people and the extra bathroom was great when needed.

We stayed in 5526. Two problems with that room, one of which will not affect the other rooms, was the wind the second the ship was moving. It doesn’t show on the deck plan but 5524 is recessed inward, so the 5526 balcony is facing the front of the ship.

The other issue we had was the noise from the theatre just below, either during rehearsals, movie showings or shows. The night Buckets & Boards was performing was particularly annoying.

Ugh. I'm booked in that stateroom and that does not sound good. Glad I found out in advance so I can change rooms.

Has anyone stayed in 5052? It's available for my cruise and has a massive verandah. Most reviews are great but one really complained about noise without saying from where. Any experiences?

Curiously, in terms of current availability, 5526 to 5540 and 5026 to 5040 are available. And 5542 to 5552 and 5042 to 5052 are not—it’s identical on both sides. I’m guessing DCL releases staterooms in chunks for some reason?

Also, I’ve read that 5552 is ADA accessible, so maybe it’s only released much closer to sailing?

DCL does not release staterooms in chunks. Everything available, including ADA staterooms, is available on the cruise's initial release day. That said, they don't always display every available stateroom on the website- sometimes you have to call to ask if something is available even though it's grayed out online.

Ahh, thank you, that makes sense!

Any issues with noise from the theatre below?
We stayed over the theatre and you can hear noise from the theatre, but really it's only during show times and usually we are either at the show or at dinner. We had one day where we heard noise mid-day and we suspected they were rehearsing. But if you have littles that need naps, be aware that there could be a matinee movie in there sometimes or rehearsals on sea days mid-day and you can hear some rumbling bass.
