Hey Everyone!!

We are looking into booking a cruise for next October on the Disney Dream:cool1: and have decided to book a concierge room. We have been looking at the review of rooms and was wondering if someone could confirm what side of the boat you will be able to see CC from when you are docked?

And also if it was true that the door on 12508 was not magnetic? we were hoping to decorate it with magentas on arrival.

We heard both these rooms to slightly large too due to the bend in the ship. Is this true? and is it a significant amount?

Thanks

Shannon

since the ship usually backs into castaway cay, the right hand (starboard) side of the ship faces the CC beaches.
but every now and then, i've heard the ship goes in face forward, in which case that won't be true..
but usually it backs in, so the right hand side will face the beaches..

as far as i know, the concierge cabin doors are not magnetic, so you won't be able to decorate the hallside with magnets..

12508 is a cat V concierge family verandah room......it's the same size as all cat V family verandah rooms....the only difference is the verandah itself is larger due to the bump out of the ship...but only the verandah is larger, not the room itself..

the verandah of these bump out rooms is deeper than a regular verandah...the width is the same, but they're deeper...

The room isn't larger but the verandah is deeper, which is really nice. The doors to all concierge rooms have a wood veneer over the metal so if you want to decorate, you can either do it inside your room or get super heavy duty magnets to hold any decorations. To me, the doors are so beautiful, I didn't want to see them covered up with magnets. The rooms are close to the lounge, which is nice.

Have a great trip!

My family stayed in 12510.It is port side so you can watch the ship being loaded (I see my suitcase!!) and wave at the Fishlips cam from the veranda as you sail out. Had a great view of CC when docked. Watched folks parasail while we had an afternoon cocktail on the veranda.
12510 is the middle of the "bump" and we asked for two more chairs out there for a total of four and a table. DH, my 10yo, my 12 yo and I could all sit out there together comfortably.
It's right across from the lounge, so we would grab breakfast, snack, dessert and sit on the veranda. It was like a second room.
The staires to deck 13 are also right there and the kids would use them to access the pool or Aqua Duck without having to go through the adult pool area.
And yes, no doors in concierge will hold an average magnet due to the wood laminate.

12510 is starboard side of the ship (right hand side)

The super deep balcony does cut down on natural light entering cabin fwiw.
Most feel the larger veranda more than makes up for less light.
Less light can be good if you like to sleep in.
Couldn't find the veranda photos of the tunnel effect.

I'm always eager to hear more concierge experiences for verandah concierge too. For the specific staterooms OP mentioned, did the walls on either side of the verandah feel a bit overwhelming, since they are so tall and opague?

the verandah is not 'super' deep....the bump out verandahs are double depth....enough space for about 4 regular chairs and a small table..
they're not super deep like the aft verandahs..
they're nicer than regular verandahs, but not super deep so you don't get that much of a tunnel effect like the after balconies...

here's a 360 view of room 12510 - click on the verandah stateroom link - that's the one for room 12510

Great find DF on the photos. Where's the large TV at the foot of the bed?
Are they only in the Fantasy cat V's?
Saw photos of a Cat V that had the small TV @ desk and a large one @ foot of bed. I thought all cat V's on Dream Class were the same.:confused3

That photo does show more light than I recall. Perhaps I was recalling some aft ones that created the tunnel effect as you mention.

OP have you seen these photos? Scroll down and there is an exterior close up of the bump out verandas on deck 11 and 12.

No. It was just enough that you had a sense of privacy. You could only see onto other verandas if you leaned over the rail.

Also, I didn't notice any "tunnel effect" or that the natural light was lacking. Maybe because we spent most of the the day out of the cabin?

Unless they added them to the Dream in the past few months, only Fantasy has two TVs in the V cabins.

here's the 360 of the concierge family verandah from the DCL website..
no tv at the foot of the bed...i think the tv that is shown is a swivel tv so can be seen from the bed and the sofa..

the one bedroom has a tv on the wall in front of the bed....

We're on the same side and same deck as you, Starboard, but in a 1-Bedroom Suite. We've not yet been, but from all my research, another perk of Starboard, is that you can watch the Buccaneer Blast Fireworks Show from your balcony. Perhaps others could let us know if this is recommended or not.

We enjoyed the fireworks from the veranda in 12510. DH and I didn't go to the party and the kids said they couldn't see anything so they came back to the cabin.
If you want to see the show, you'd have to rush back to the cabin to see the fireworks.

The cat v connecting to the royal suites on the dream have a tv on the wall opposite the bed I think. The larger balconies are nice but the room sizes are the same

There is not a wood veneer over the door. It is a paint application not actual wood. So yes, as this poster indicated you can do magnets. But you can't use the normal magnets, must do the heavy duty. Also, due to the wind gusts from opening up the outside doors, even the heavy duty magnets tend to slide. So to be respectful of the doors, please put a piece of tissue paper between the magnet and the door in the event the wind gets them. That way they will simply drop to the floor rather than scratch the door.

We stayed in a regular room this past cruise and many of the FEs were magnets. We took them off the door as soon as we noticed them so they wouldn't get stolen or vandalized. The first day we left them and noticed the next morning several missing. My daughter was devastated. So they didn't stay on the door for the rest of the cruise. It's no fun to watch a little one have a melt down for something so inconsequential.

We just got off the fantasy in room 12526, a 1br suite. We were on the starboard side of the ship. Same as 12508-10. The third 5 in the stateroom number indicates starboard. We face the port in PC and faced the beaches in CC. The fireworks are easily visible from the starboard deck 12 verandas. You will receive a letter asking you not go out on your balcony during the fireworks, but as the concierge stated, that is only to remove the risk from Disney and she told us it was ok and many do.

Enjoy.

We were in 12504 in early September. Our magnetic decorations would not stick to the door at all.
