Okay, here goes... I'm not quite ready to start my "diet" as of yet... I keep making excuses to pro-long my start date... I really need to start very soon as I'm not happy about my weight and the way I feel... I am going to try to start on Feb. 2, (since we are having a SuperBowl party at our house) and are having pizza and goodies... I hope to write in this journal at least once a week and hopefully more often. This can be a really good "tool" to help me stay on track... Okay, a little about myself:

I'm 5' 3"
258 pounds (large boned, even the doctors say so... LOL)
I want to be between 150 - 160 pounds which should put in a size 10/12... about 5 or 6 years ago, I lost 92 pounds and got too thin at 142 pounds and was in a size 8, which is very small for me... I started looking too old... I've just turned 48 last October, so gravity isn't always a "friend" and wrinkles are found easier as I lose the weight, but hey, it's worth it...

Anyway, as you have figured out, I've put my weight back on and even lost 79 pounds last year doing Nutri-System... I got back into my old habits and put all of of 22 pounds back on... YUCK... so what the heck is going on???????... sooooooo, I finally realized that dieting is just that, dieting... to lose weight, but I've never really learned how to keep it off... so this time, I'm going to work on my bad habits and try to turn them around... duhhhhhhh... you'd think I would have figured that out sooner... oh well... Anyways, I'm gonna try to control my carbs and eat better... try to quit snacking and stop eating after 8:00 pm... another bad habit I what to work on is not to eat so much through out the day... I hope to "busy" my mind with other hobbies instead of my "perfected hobby" of eating... LOL... Another bad habit I need to change is sitting on my "butt"... I've got to get up and exercise... I was going to the gym last year and doing water arobics anywhere from 2 to 3 times a week... water arobics is awesome, but I haven't been back, to be honest, because I'm embarressed of all the weight I put back on and what the other girls will think... I know that they would understand as they probably have done the same thing, but I'm still embarrassed, but I WILL RETURN to swim again by mid Febuary... I know I need to do this soon as I'm out of breath alot just doing little things and I'm snoring terribly while sleeping... I keep waking up my husband... LOL...

Well, this is my beginning of a journal... sorry it was so long, but I plan on weighing in once a week and will "post" my progress... If anyone has any suggestions on how I can change my habits and any diets tips, I would really appreciate it... I've never done this with out a "fad" kind of diet (quick fix) and know I really need to do it the "smart" way and control myself around food... Thanks for listening, er... reading... have a great day and I'll see ya soon... :wave2:

Donna, welcome to the WISH journal board!! My journal has helped me so much and I hope your journal helps you too! Everyone on the journal board is so encouraging and supportive - it's a truly amazing place to be!

It sounds like you're on the right track. Any changes we make need to be lifestyle changes - changing our relationship with food. Easier said than done sometimes, but realizing it's a problem is truly half the battle. Your journal will give you a great place to analyze what you're eating and why.

Many of us journal daily or every other day and we write down what we eat here. That way, we can look back into what we've eaten over a period of time and see what works for us and what doesn't.

Best wishes for you as you start on this journey - glad to have you with us!!

Hi Donna:wave2: Welcome!

You're gonna love it here on the journal board. Everyone is so positive and supportive. It really can be the difference for making IT work this time.

I too have done all the fad diets, pills, whatever easy fix I could find. Eventually the weight comes back. But I am trying to make this a "weigh" of life now. Exercise is an extremely important factor in it all. (It will definitely help with the gravity factor and wrinkles;) ) So don't put it off too long. I prefer to use Firm tapes in the privacy of my home, so I don't make a fool of myself in public. But figure out what you LIKE to do, and then go DO IT! Liking it is important, so that you'll stick with it.

Lastly, recognize that you will stumble on this journey. Don't let these bumps become road blocks. Get right back up and get back on plan!!!! We are human, we will eat the wrong things sometimes, but it doesn't have to be all the time. So no matter what, keep trying. Every day is a new chance for success. And I have found that the more I stay OP, the more I want to. This positive can do attitude is just permeatting my whole life.:teeth:

So welcome aboard! I'll be checking in on you from time to time. Good luck on your "journey"!:sunny:
