Disney donates 100 Grand to Haiti relief

Not entirely sure yet what I think about the size of Disney's donation, but as far as the celebrities go? Big deal.

Whether it's Brad Pitt or Beyonce or Tiger or whomever, I think it's important to remember what a ridiculous amount of money they have to take care of themselves and their families and the rest is merely disposable income at their discretion. The money that a corporation like Disney has must take care of it's business expenses, which includes gainfully employing thousands of people, which is important too.

Who's to say, Disney or any other company could ante up more in six months or next year when this isn't front page news anymore. The US has pledged $100 mill. I believe China has pledged $1 mill.

Now I could really get excited if a bunch of Wall Street bonus hogs would be plastered across the front page because they told Morgan Stanley, Chase, etc. to direct their bonus directly to the relief efforts!

If I'm not mistaken, Is Disney using one of there cruise ships to take food and water to the Haiti?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donate to many causes. They've done wonders for New Orleans.

Maybe Disney does the same? There's no way to know how much a company or person donate in total.

How much did the CEO bonus last year? $100,000 is way too low.

My wife's employer just pledged $2,000,000! I think Disney could up the dollars.

while I am glad they gave something - that is a pretty weak donation for the size of their corporation and the amount of money they bring in.

How much are all of you giving? Please let us know that and your annual income so we can judge if its enough. :sad2:

Thank Goodness for any and all donations, I'm sure the people of Haiti are grateful for everything thats being given and what will be able to be done with what is given.

Sounds like a new thread. Be my guest and start that one, i'm not touching it with a 10 foot pole. ;) :rotfl:

Well I've gotten in enough trouble this week :rolleyes1 so I don't think that would be a good idea.

Now wouldn't that be a wonderful thing to happen? A few cruise ships pull up to Haiti, and allow the Haitians to board and live in the cabins, at least until power, order, water, and medical care can be restored.

I know every little bit helps, but when I'm seeing street vendors that live day by day on what they're able to sell on the streets here in the DR, arriving to the Red Cross telling me they’re donating blood, because it’s literally all they can give, US$100,000 from Disney seems very low.

Just as I don't think any less of a person who only feels the need to help only when a disaster strikes, I'm not going to chatize a company who has probably spent its entire existence donating to charitable causes that none of us could have been bothered with.

Op, here.

I simply thought it was a nice gesture but I think it's a nice gesture when anyone helps those in need. Whether it's a dollar or 100 grand.

I won't say how much we make, but I will tell you we donate annually about 8% - 12% of our income to charities and other causes.

So Disney gave $100 grand. Not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, I know, but I'm positive that it's $100 grand more than some other companies will donate.

It wouldn't bother me if WDW Corp donated zilch. It is none of our business and they are not obligated to donate anything, no one is.
