Anyone have any experience with them?

I am looking to get some for my daughter to reward her with for doing things around the house like attempting to make her bed or cleaning up her toys etc... as she is only 4 but thought it would be more fun then giving her USD as we currently call that DISNEY MONEY.

From what I can understand from READING is that they were issued out yearly pretty much then stopped for a few years and started again last year (?) but all that money is decorated to be PIRATES themed money..

I called the number about ordering some money but they were not much help in telling me other then I can only order $50 a day max through a 1 credit card though if you have more cards you can order up to a total of $150 with 3 cards daily but shipping the Disney Dollars costs $25

Not too bad of a deal if you excersise the option of $150 + $25 for shipping but still expensive

So my few questions I have for you is.... (as again the CM was really of no help)

If I called and order would they just issue me NEW money or would I get old used bills like any other currency?

And if its new or old can you go about requesting a specific character or what not?

I have a friend in FL and one in CA both about 1 hour out from WDW and DL so worst case one of them will visit and see about picking me up some cash in person but just trying to figure this out as my main thing is I just dont want to give my daughter PIRATE money.. lol

any help and insight would be appreciated.

I think they come in different denominations with a different charter on both of them and it would probably be far easier and cheaper to just have your friends get them for you. Also they will only issue new "bills", which are printed in the UK to the same standards as US currency, Disney is apparently the only company ever given permission to print there own currency. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_dollar

We've been doling out "Disney Dollars" for our DDs (8 & 9) for a month or so now, but I've just been keeping track on a piece of paper on the fridge. They are old enough that I'm just keeping track as they earn $$, and they know we'll buy Disney GC's before we leave.

However, we had an experience a few weeks ago where the Tooth Fairy forgot, and DD was devastated. She had left a note asking for Disney Dollars instead of actual money, so we told her that the TF saw her note and had to go back to Disney to get the Disney Dollars. She accepted that, so I made up a postcard with a letter from the Tooth Fairy explaining the delay, and found a printable "Disney Dollars" certificate online, complete with Cinderella's Castle. She was THRILLED and took them to school the next day to prove to her classmates that the Tooth Fairy was real. :) Google "Disney Dollars" and there are lots of increments available...plenty that will work for a princess! princess:

I wanted to give my kid Disney dollars last year for our trip but obviously couldn't since I'm here in Canada. I just printed a couple off for each of them. My kids are old enough to know that it is just to be in place of money. I told them I would get them the real thing in Disney. I never did though and they were happy with the "fakes" as a souvenir.

I agree with pp, print some of the fake ones. I believe you said she is 4, she won't know the difference and it will still be fun for her. I just printed both sides and taped them together because I was in a bit of a hurry when my partner and I were getting there surprise reveal ready.

You dont think so eh... lol :rotfl2:

Shes a smart cookie knows all her money and numbers etc...

As for the other posts thanks for the info...

I know I can acquire it weather I pay the premium to ship to Canada but the main concern was I just don't want OLD money nor do I want just PIRATE money.

Turns out the one friend in CA I know has some sort of upper management friend at Disneyland so he's saving me some time and just sending him a message on Facebook.. see where that gets me! :confused3
