disney dollars on board?

Just wondering. Is it possible to use disney dollars to settle your account on board the ship?

Yes, you can use them to settle your account, but can't use them to make any purchases onboard.

I am a Cast Member at a Disney Store and a Guest had this question for us awhile ago none of us were sure so we made a call to the Cruise Line and we were told that you CAN use Disney Dollars on the Cruise just like at the parks.

You can use Disney dollars, but if you have a credit card # on file for charges make sure you go down to guest services a couple days before the end of the cruise if you want to have them credited to your account. Everytime you incur $450 in charges on your kTTW card, it is run through and processed on your credit card. My daughter's had Disney dollars that they were going to use to pay for things they purchased, arcade, etc. I waited to the night before to go to guest services and most of our charges were already processed through on our credit card. I'm sure they may have been able to do an adjustment, but I didn't want to make a hassle and we were going to Disney afterwards, so they used them there. Next time I will make sure I credit them to my account early on.

The ship is a cashless system, no cash, no disney dollars in the shops or to pay for drinks, etc.

You can either put them against your account in the beginning of the cruise, or pay off your balance with them. Just can't use them in the shops, etc. This is the way it has been on our 5 previous DCL cruises, unless something has changed recently.

Some of the people in our group are hinting for Disney dollars for birthdays and Christmas. Sounds like a really nice plan if you don't have any idea what to give.

Personally, I've been hinting about some fun stuff from Magical Treasures--unfortunately, I don't know if they're still available with the changes.
