Disney Dollars for Tips?

Can you use Disney Dollars for tips...in restaurants or for mousekeeping? Is this acceptable and/or "tacky"?

I agree that you can but I wouldn't either. That means the recipient either needs to spend the money onsite or go through the hassle of converting it to cash.

It's actually not a hassle at all! all locations have a general teller (cashier) All they have to do is trade them in at the GT before leaving. Same as they would do if they had gotten $10 in change over the course of a shift....etc. So it really doesn't matter if you tip them in DD....they just trade them in at the end of their shift.

In that case, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Thanks everyone. Not sure if I'll need to do this or not, but if we're short of real money, it's nice to know I can use other currency!

i am sure you could but i think money of phone cards would be more beneficial to those you are tipping, i would use the disney dollars for the kids i think children appreciate it more good luck

If you run short and need to use DDollars, why don't you just take them to the front desk and have them convert it to $$$ and then leave the cash as the tip? If you are staying on site, that is.

Leaving Disney Dollars is, to my idea, similar to leaving casino coins in Las Vegas as tips. I just always made sure to tip with a coin from that casino so the employee wouldn't have to go all over to cash them in. Actually, many churches in Las Vegas get donations in casino chips or coins in the collection plate. It must take some aback, though, to see a priest in a casino with a bucket of chips!
