I have a tour scheduled to do a Divequest in Epcot. I wanted to make an ADR for the Coral Reef so the family can watch the dive. Has anyone done this? What is the best time to book the ADR? Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My husband did this last year. I can't remember exactly what time we actually saw him in the water, but it seemed like it took FOREVER between the time he left and the time we actually saw him in the tank. Kids were getting antsy and the wait was pretty rough. So I know that isn't super helpful on timeline, but I would recommend you get it as close to as possible as when you'd be in the tank because my husband had no timeline so we waited and waited and waited until one kid was in tears, another one was rolling on the floor. LOL It was a long wait.

Adding that we didn't wait at Coral Reef. We waited upstairs by the big windows. I don't know if waiting at a restaurant would have been less painful. By the time we saw him, the kids didn't even care.

I do not know if the dives always take place at the same time, but in January of 2018 we had a 5:05pm ADR at Coral Reef and the divers were waving at us in the restaurant during our dinner.

Thanks for the info. I made the ressies for 4:40, it’s the only thing available. Hopefully it coincides.

There are more than one dive time per day. I'd ask which dive the above people were on.

Also - can the divers see the restaurant guests and other aquariums. Can I only see my family if I have ADR to the restaurant.

The dive does take the full 3 hiurs. I would schedule the meal for the middle hour and put on the ressie that they will be watching a family member dive. That way they'll seat them in the proper place.

I wouldn't plan on viewing the dive from the restaurant. The divers go all around the tank and you can observe more by being in the main part of the pavilion rather than being in the restaurant.

This is true. While my kids were exhausted from waiting forever for their dad, we did have to move around a bit from window to window to watch them. We would have missed a lot of we were right in front of the same window the entire time.

This isn’t a helpful post, but I just couldn’t help but remember that full house episode, with the family eating in coral reef watching (I think) uncle Jessie dive, lol. This made me think of that scene. Maybe have your kids watch it before you go!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and tips. I am on the 4:30 dive so I figured if we were in the pool by 5:30-6 the family would be just finishing dinner. So they could watch from the restaurant and then head over into the pavilions main viewing area. Does that sounds like there would be too much wasted time going from the restaurant to pavilion?

Thanks again

It shouldn't take too long to go from the restaurant to inside the pavilion. Instead of going in the entrance and having to go through the queue and ride, go in the exit of the building.
