Disney Dinning Plan and DVC

We are considering renting points and staying DVC. Can you purchase just the Disney Dining Plan through Disney if staying DVC? I know Davids rental offers the DDP but I was hoping to buy it through Disney so I could use the Disney gift cards. Can this be done?

No. The DVC owner is the one who will buy the plan from Disney for you and you pay them, so gift cards probably won't work.

If the owner is willing, they should be able to conference you in with Member Services and you can give MS your gift card numbers. In two weeks, I am going with 5 other people. I will get one or two of them on the phone with me and we will each pay for our own dining plan.

I'm a little late to the party.. And perhaps it is too late, however, I remember reading on David's that you can give the dvc owner disney gift cards to pay for the DDP, with a limit of 6 gift cards.

you may be able to give the member the gift card numbers, don't know if you need the physical gift cards. If you cancel it, the amount will be refunded to the gift cards, so you may want to keep the actual cards. As noted, up to 6 gift cards.

And you'd have to trust the member to use those gift cards for your dining plan.
