Disney Dining?

Great!! That's what we were planning on doing. I have heard that there are going to be changes to the dining plan next year. Does anyone know what they are?

There are significant (in my opinion) changes to the Dining Plan for next year.
There will be 2 levels, the Regular Dining Plan and a Deluxe Dining Plan
The Regular Dining Plan will no longer include an appetizer or the tip in the TS meal. The cost went down $1, but you will need to pay at least 18% OOP for a tip on each meal
The Deluxe Plan will include 3 meals per day, 2 snacks per day and a refillable mug. So you could, in theory, eat 3 TS meals per day.
I will need to think long and hard about whether the Regular Dining Plan is of value for us anymore.

I don;'t think you have to pay 18% tip you can tip whatever you want ! The old plan had 18% tip included! Now you tip according to the service or what you want. I agree it is not as good a deal as it was!!

Not sure about the tip amount but i also agree about the plan is not a good deal in 08. The deluxe Dining is around 70 per person and if you did 3 ts a day you wouldn't get much time in the parks to walk off the food:)

I'm sure this is the case. For larger parties, the gratuity will be added but otherwise, I think you pay what you feel is deserved. I don't think next years plan is as good, but I also think it will help to make it easier to get an ADR. That tip can really bite you in the hiney though. We are a family of five and at some of the TS places our bill would have been over $200, which means a tip of close to $40! The main reason we get the DP is so that it's prepaid and it basically becomes an all inclusive vacation. Normally, we wouldn't even be able to afford to eat TS every day of our stay. The jury is still out as to whether or not we'll do the DP next year. It will be interesting to read reviews once the 2008 DP arrives.:)

It would have been nice if they had offered you a choice, desert OR appetizer. And yeah, the plan is not as convenient, having to worry about the tip. All of that said, our family has used it in the past and will likely continue to use the 'basic' DDP option.
