I know it has been asked numerous times but I am in need of some advice. My family of 4 ( 2 adults, 4, 6) are going to Disney in March 12-14 2016. I am wondering if the Disney dining plan is worth the money. We plan on spending 1 day at the Magic Kingdom and staying at the POR or Contemporary. Which plan is the best value?

Places we possibly want to eat
Chef Mickey
A buffet with the characters at the Crystal Palace
or
Fairytale Dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table

Value depends on how you use it. With kids that age, you'll probably come out ahead with any of the plans. If you're only going to two nights, you'll have to decide how much time you want to spend in restaurants.

The calculator at www.distripplanner.com is pretty useful.

Are you asking which dining plan is the best value or which use of the two TS credits is the better value? Going to Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace on the plan would be a better value than Cinderella's Royal Table; the only possible exception being if you were thinking dinner for CRT and breakfast/brunch for the others.

If you're only staying two nights, you'll only have 2 TS credits each. CRT will take both of those, meaning you'll have to pay OOP for anything else. If you don't do CRT, then Chef Mickey and dinner at CP would be a good use of those credits, and you will come out a little ahead using the DDP instead of paying OOP.
