Disney Dining Plan & HDDR

We don't usually do the DDP, but on our upcoming trip we're taking a very dear friend (she has become a surrogate grandmother to our children) as our guest and we know that she's going to insist on trying to pay for things. Since we absolutely do not want her to have that opportunity (this is our gift to her), we've decided to add the Dining Plan so that we can say "sorry, XXX, everything has already been prepaid, there's nothing you can do" when she tries, and since we have lots of dining planned, we decided to go with the Deluxe Dining Plan.

My three questions are:

1. Prior to making that decision we'd booked the HDDR and paid for it at that time, per the usual guarantee process. Is there anything special that we'll need to do to get the dinner moved over to DDxDP credits and the price refunded to our credit card (I know that won't happen until after the meal, due to the guarantee, but does it happen automatically after the fact)?

2. More importantly, will it impact our choice of seating tiers? We currently are booked in Tier 1, and since we booked at 187 days out, our seating should be pretty good, but I don't know if DDP credits are only good for one of the lower tiers? And if it will, do I need to let them know about our intended shift from cash to DDxDP ahead of time, or should I do it at the time of the dinner?

3. If DDP credits are good only for certain tiers, is it possible to pay the difference to upgrade back to tier 1?

Sorry for the long post, but being unfamiliar with the DDP, I'm a bit flummoxed by all of this.

I haven't done HHDR, but when I booked at CRT I had to pre-pay as well. After our meal when it came time to pay, I explained that I needed a refund, as we wanted to use the DDP. Our server said it was no problem, happens all the time, and that it would be refunded automatically since we used the DDP. Got home a few days later and it was aleady credited back to my card.

Unfortunatly, dinner shows in tier 2-3 are only available on the DDP. Except the 9:30pm HDDR in which case you can use your 2 credits for tier 1. There is no way to upgrade you points on paying OOP.

Thanks. That's a bummer, but understandable and certainly not the end of the world. We just canceled the ADR for HDDR and made one for Narcoossee's, instead, so we certainly won't go hungry that night!

WDW recently made a change to their dining website. I believe you can now book w/ credits and pre-paying is no longer needed. HDD is only tiers 2-3, tier 1 is only allowed if you attend the last show.

That is super sweet of you guys to do that for someone!! We did the late show with tier 1 seating and it was great, only a few tables back from the stage!! Whatever you guys decide to do will turn out perfectly.....thoughtfulness is returned with good reward!! Have a magical trip! :)
