Disney dining plan changes I posted on disney dining board too

I called today to add one night dining plan and CM stated disney changed it back yesterday to Same plan needed for entire stay. I did not ask what if you already had it differently. Guess it is for new dining plans. I plan on calling a fourth time today to see if that CM was wrong. Just sharing here to help disers budget their trips. This was with DVC.

Is this a DVC stay? If so, it does seem to be true, though I'm not sure anyone has determined what's happening to reservations that already have it separated with various plans on parts of it.

That's not a change. Guests have always had to have the same dining plan through an entire single stay. You make your trip a single stay by adding one or more nights to an existing reservation.

To avoid the issue in the future, simply make a consecutive but separate reservation. You can have different 'conditions' on the two reservations - like, in this case, one unit-only for a night and one with the dining plan for the bulk of your stay. When you check in, just ask if you can be placed somewhere from which you won't have to move.

Actually, katyie - it is a change for DVC members. We had more flexibility over the past 7-8 months, but they are taking that away.

And for DVC reservations, it's actually more complicated now than just making separate reservations - it's not exactly clear yet how it's going to settle out when all is said and done. DVC staff have provided inconsistent answers, but some have said you cannot have 2 separate reservations if you are at the same resort, same room size -- others have suggested that you can.

AND TO ALL - this only applies to DVC points reservations, so no need for everyone to rush off and research it!
