I had another DVC member tell me you could no longer add on the Dinning Plan after the reservation was made. That is not true I called Member Services to book a reservation today and asked it is still up available to add up to 48 hours before check in. I just thought someone might want to know and you still have time to mull it over and decide until close to your check in date.

Yes, well that member was wrong. What did change (among some other things) is that it has to be paid for when it is added, you can no longer pay at check-in for it.

I think the responses to the thread you posted on breviously did state that you could add it, but it had to be 48 hours before the start of your reservation. You could not add it when you checked in.

Also, obviously, you can't get ADRs until you've added DDP. So, 48 hrs. may not be the best idea.

That isn't true at all. ADRs can be made by anyone, as long as you are 180 days or less from check in. The DDP has nothing to do with it.

The only time the DDP comes into play is if you are booking an ADR that requires prepayment. Not having the DDP on your reservation will mean you have to pay in full when you book the reservation, then be reimbursed at the restaurant when you pay with your dining plan. As of now, the only places that do this are Cinderella's Royal Table, the Hoop de doo Revue, and the Spirit of Aloha show.

Not true. You don't need to have your DDP in place to book reservations. I will be booking my August ADR's next month and won't be adding the plan until July.

If you don't have the plan added and want to book the restaurants that require prepayment (CRT, Hoop Dee Doo, etc), you will have to pay for those at booking and then ask for reimbursement the day of your reservation when you tell them you are on the plan.

If you don't plan on booking one of those place, waiting to add DDP is not an issue.

I don't think you even have to be staying at a Disney resort to make an ADR. The advantage if you are staying on site is the fact that you can book up to 10 days worth of your trip thus giving you a 10 advantage over non-resort guests. You still can't book until 180 days from your check-in but at that time you can as I said add 10 days worth on that date. Non-resort guests would have to call each day at 180 to accomplish the same thing.

I got reimbursed at the time that I added the DDP by calling Disney Dining, rather than waiting until the day of the reservation. I didn't want the additional charges on my card for several months collecting interest for CC company.

Thanks for sharing. That is a piece I had not yet heard.

Okay...So now I'm confused.
:confused3
We're staying at AKV - Jambo House on rented points this April and our wonderful DVC owner added the dining plan to the reservation after we originally booked. I checked the DVC ressie site and it lists "...with dining plan" in the details.

We did NOT pay ahead for the dining plan. The person we rented our points from told us we could pay at check-in. Is this not true? If I need to send him the money ahead of time and have him pay within 48 hours of arrival, that's fine...although it's another big chunk of money to send out and have to hold my breath that it goes smoothly. I'd much rather pay off our dining plan at check-in...

Any insights?

If this reservation was booked before Oct 10( I think that was the date), you could pay when you arrived. If it was booked after that date, it had to be paid for when it was added.

I added the dining plan yesterday. How long does it take to show on my reservation?:confused3

It depends on where you are looking. It will not show up on dvcmember.com.

It will show up if you retrieve your reservation on mydisneyreservation.com.
