My DS is 11 yrs old. He usually orders off the childs menu because he
cannot eat and adult size meal, not to mention the adult menu items are not usually to his liking.

How strict are the restaurants on the children being 9 and under to get a childs plate?

Thanks for the advice.

Maybe.......I would say overall you probably won't have much of an issue. If you ask your server and explain the situation I think most restaurants will not have much of a problem at all.

When it comes to the Disney Dining Plan, if your 11-year old wants to order from the child's menu you certainly can however, they will still deduct it as a full adult meal since the Dining Plan is based on age and your 11-year old is considered an adult (ages 10 and up.)

Clear as mud, right? :)

buffets, you pay the adult price. And as the PP said, on the dining plan they don't care but it counts as an adult either way.

Most sit down restaurants don't seem to care. DS usually wants to order from the adult menu so we don't encounter it much. On occasion when we said no child menu for him, the host/hostess has suggested he look at it anyway. One time the hostess gave him a hard time and told him to order the $6 steak on the kids' menu instead of the $30 one. When he has ordered a kid's meal,no one blinks an eye.

I don't think you'll have a hard time ordering off the kids menu.

A few years ago we took our niece (who eats like a bird). She was 11 and she ordered off the kids menu for the whole trip.
