Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

Great PP pictures :thumbsup2. When we were editing our pictures I noticed that several of ours were just not there :confused3. I don't know what happened to them :(.

I hope ya'll have fun at the Gulf :beach:. Maybe there won't be to much oil on the beach. It is sad that you won't be able to get in the water, but as long as you have a pool at your condo that will be OK too :thumbsup2.

I'm sure you have already been to this site, but I thought I would post it just in case you hadn't found it.

Aww, great PP pics!! Too funny about the kissing picture :rotfl2: In 2008 I tried getting Greg to kiss me in a PP pic but he does NOT like PDA and refused :sad2:

Awesome PP pics! My DH (and kids) never want to stop for pictures. I didn't feel like fighting it this year and we only had 13 taken!

Hope you all have a blast at the beach!

I love all of the PP pics, Michelle! :goodvibes And I hope you have a wonderful time at the beach! Hopefully there will be no oil effects where you are!

All caught up now! Love the PP pics. They came out great. I hope you have had a wonderful time at the beach.

I hope your beach trip was good. All of my fun stuff is over for the summer. Now it's just getting ready to go back to school. Boo to that.

Thankfully, we do have Brooklynn's party to plan for and look forward to, and Trent is coming for that. We may have to make up a beach party of our own when everyone is here.

Nice Photopass pictures. You have a good-looking family! :)

Great pics....can't wait to read more!!

Thanks! :)

Wow, all your PP pics are so great! I love all the new borders they've added since last year! :lovestruc

Thanks, Denise! :) I love adding all the borders and playing with what you can do to your pictures on the PP website.

Nah, doesn't make you sound bad at all. In fact, that sounds like another family that I might know...

 That's good to know!

Your PP pics are terrific!! Everyone in your family is so photogenic!

Thanks! :)

Wonderful Photopass Pictures!! The one with Donald I think is my favorite. Very sweet!

Thanks, Brooke! :)

Thanks, Dana! :) That stinks on some of your PP pics missing. By any chance did the photographer also take one with your own camera?

We did have a good time at the gulf, but it was sad to see it different than I've always know it. I'll be giving a little mini-report soon.

Thanks for the website---I had not been to it It has some great info. :thumbsup2

 It was just the opposite for us---I think Kevin would have laid a big 'ole smooch-a-roo on me, but I'm the one that doesn't want other people staring at me.

Awesome PP pics! My DH (and kids) never want to stop for pictures. I didn't feel like fighting it this year and we only had 13 taken!

Thanks, Julia! We usually only take a few at each park, but this year we were on a photopass share, so I was determined to take as many as we could! :thumbsup2

What great PP pics! :goodvibes

Hope you are having a great time at the beach!! :cool1:

Thanks, Leanne! :)

We had a good time at the beach, but unfortunately, there were some effects from the oil spill that were very evident.:sad1:

Great Photopass pictures!!! You have such a lovely family! :goodvibes

Hope you enjoyed your time at the beach!

Glad to see that you're home---I'll have to go over and check out your new TR. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Michelle! :) I enjoyed going to the beach with my parents, sister, her kids, and my own too.

I hear you on the fun stuff being over. :sad2: I came home Sunday night, and I've been at school both days (Mon and Tues) working on things. Vacation's over

Hi everyone! :) I am back after spending the past week at the beach at Gulf Shores, AL. I thought I’d share a little from my trip. My parents wanted to take my sister and her family and mine to the beach. The husbands were invited, but neither my brother-in-law, nor my own husband could take time off from work, so they were MIA for this trip. So the travelers were Nana and Papa (my parents), Kelly (my sister), her 3 kids---Reilly, Reese, and Meg, myself and my 3 kids---Elizabeth, Rachel, and Reid.

First and foremost, everyone wants to know the condition of the beach. Here is the condo unit we were staying in-

From the balcony, the beach appeared to be as pristine as it always is. The dark spots here are just seaweed clumps that had washed ashore.

However, when I looked out at the ocean, there were these patches of oil scum floating. The best way I know to describe it, is that it looked like a big patch of throw-up. SORRY---I know that’s gross, but that’s exactly what it looked like to me. I have a picture, but I’m not sure how well you can see the patches.

Sorry that this and the next several pictures are blurry. :headache: My camera lens got switched from AF (autofocus) to MF--that's manual focus! So my pictures were blurring, and I never thought to check that little switch on the lens, because I never change it.

Not exactly something you want to get in and splash around in.:sad2: Of course, there were double red flags flying—translate “No Swimming”---This is not a recommendation, but rather it is forbidden.

In all my trips to the beach through the years, I have to say that I have never seen a sign like this at the entrance back near the condo pool, nor have I ever seen Gojo hand cleaner stations posted near the showers/hoses that are usually for sand clean-up.

We had a fun time hanging out together, letting the kids swim in the pool, eating dinners together, despite the condition of the ocean water.

Reid enjoyed reading to Meg.

One evening after dinner, we took the kids to play mini-golf.

Elizabeth---A pretty cute golfer, if I say so myself.

Rachel had to help Meg with her golf swing.

This is the look of a very determined golfer! She would hit the ball, and then walk down to where it stopped, and pick it up and go back to hit it again!

The big kids (as we call the oldest four---Reilly, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Reese) saw these shirts and they had to have one.

We had a fun time hanging out together. But there was still just an air of sadness being there. I’ve been to the beach in July, and let me tell you, the beach is packed with people. There are colored umbrellas up and down the beach as far as you can see. When you go out to dinner, you have an hour to two hours wait times for the more popular spots. That just wasn’t the case this time. I’d say there were probably 50% less people on the beach/in the condo than there usually are. We didn’t wait more than 15 minutes for a table at dinner. I pray the area can recover from the oil spill. The environmental issue is a huge concern, but the economy of the area has been really hit as well.

***************************************************************************

Hopefully I’ll get a Disney update sometime soon. School starts in less than two weeks now, so I’m pretty busy working in my room, trying to get some things together for the new school year.

Glad you guys had a good time at the beach. Same thing happened to my lens on our trip to DL. Now I have a bunch of blurry pics. Hope I can find a program to try and fix them. Looking forward to your next update.

That stinks about not being able to swim in the ocean... and can I just say I LOVE the T-shirts! I want one
I'm glad y'all had fun at the beach though, mini golfing is always a fun thing :thumbsup2

That's horrible to see the effects of the oil spills on such a beautiful beach...luckily you guys were still able to find other fun things to do while on your vacation

Looks like you had a good trip to the beach, in spite of the oil. I hate what this has done to the beach communities. Would you recommend a trip to the beach to others? Are hotels and condos offering better prices/deals to get tourists to come?

That's just awful about the beach :sad2: It's so sad that these repercussions are still being felt. I don't know what it'll take before someone takes an active cleaning role (cough bp).
Glad your family still managed to have fun together, though!!
