OK so we skipped Christmas at Disney in 2010 so we are gearing up to go in 2011.
But we have a dilemma. DH and DS14 want to go to Disneyland Paris, DS10, DS9 and DD want to go to WDW or a cruise.

I'm torn.

Paris would be sooooo cool, it's Paris! But it snows. Nothing like being in a foreign country and having to battle the elements. But it's Paris!!!! We would spend a few days at the park and then see the top sights in Paris. I don't think we would go to in depth. Maybe jump over to Belgium for DS10. He wants to live there. It would only be a week or so depending on cost. Traveling with 6 people to Europe is a bit of a challenge because of the size of rooms of Hostels and such. But DH travels to Europe all the time so between his knowledge and friends we should be able to navigate well.

WDW, there is a short 3 day cruise that leaves the day after Christmas. I was thinking about asking Santa to gift this to the family. Ya know a surprise built into the vacation. The kids would never guess!! And they haven't been surprised since the April 2005 trip. Which they figured out at the Atlanta airport. It's warmer then home and Paris. And let's face it, after the winter we are having I could use a break. And I want to see Castaway Cay. It looks like so much fun!!

anyway. If you had to choose which would you pick?
And there is no other poll option!! LOL

my "vote" would be WDW and cruise if Santa can swing it!

I don't think I would want to go to Europe just yet, Megan so wants to go to Paris DL, but I think that trip will wait for graduation from high school or maybe 16 bday trip....that would be a long trip for Princess Blink to go to Paris, but I'm with you wanting the warmth!

good luck deciding!!

BAMB - I too vote for WDW and a surprise 3 day cruise. Paris sounds lovely - but part of the fun is getting away from the cold weather and going somewhere warm. Paris in the cold isn't the way I would choose to visit. Besides, your kids are still at the ages where you could wait another two years to be able to really enjoy Paris more.

Because of the weather I would vote WDW. But I might skip the cruise, and pocket the money to save for a trip to Europe another part of the year. But if you've never cruised Disney, it would be fun. In fact, I told DH since 2011 is our year to be in FL, if my Mom can get a good last minute deal on a cruise, I want to go. But I was looking at the 4 day(?) that leaves the 22nd on the Dream.

We looked at that one too Hope. But I thought the day after Xmas one would be perfect as a gift. We've never been on a Disney cruise before.

ETA: the cost would probably work out to be the same. I can get us in 1 cabin in DLP instead of 2 rooms and 2 cabins at WDW/cruise.

I am going to disagree with the majority here- LOL I love Paris and would vote for Paris. I can only imagine the Eifel tower at Christmas time! WOW! I would wait and do a cruise when you can do longer than 3 days- IMO. I would be way too sad only taking a three day cruise. It is hard enough getting off a Disney ship after 7 days, I can not imagine only 3 days. Save up for double dip cruise when you can hit Castaway Cay twice. Plus the weather at CC can still be very CHILLY in December. I would want the beach when it is a better chance of being warm! My family would also be in shock over my vote, because we love to cruise!

I am sure whatever you decide will be the right decision for your family.

i vote for wdw/cruise as well. Although Paris is on our list too, but i want to wait until the little ones (3&4) are big enough to handle to traveling part as much as one can :rotfl2: as well as appreciate the destination.

I voted WDW/cruise for a few reasons: 1) I haven't been to Disneyland Paris in many years, but from what I remember, it's not nearly as big as WDW - there's not as much to do; 2) Paris is FREEZING in the winter; 3) The little ones are too little to remember it (I know everyone says that's not a good reason) but if you wait and take them to Europe when they're older I think they'll appreciate it more. I had a friend from jr. high through college whose parents took her and her sister to England and France when they were 12 and 14 and they hated it. She and I went to Eurpoe when we were 22 and had the BEST time. I just think it's a trip for older kids/young adults. JMHO :flower3:

I vote cruise too! That overseas flight is really long and Paris is cold in the winter, much better in the spring or early summer ;)

Definitely the cruise - Paris is beautiful - I traveled there several times in my younger years, but coldddddd in Dec. Why go there to be cold, when you can have warmth? Caroline
