I have been sewing for 2 weeks to make customs for the trip. Then this morning I woke to the thought, what if they don't wear customs at DL?

There is only 1 set that is very themed. I made a princess skirt with applique shirt for the 11 year old. To match her I am making a T skirt dress in a vague snow white theme. Just a blue tank top with V waist and then gathered yellow skirt.

I designed and made patriotic mickey head shirts to go with our red and white dot cuffed capri pants and belts.

Pirate twirl skirt to for the girl, pirate shirt for young boy and straight pirate skirt for me. Then mickey head applique shirts for girly and myself.

We have 1 day of applique autism mickey head shirts.

Do tell me that people do wear custom Disney clothes to Disneyland? Or are we going to look weird?
I am closing in the outfits for DL. We leave Sat afternoon. I still have 2 capri with cuff and belts in red dots and two shirts for DH. The on the wish list is a kimono style dress shirt for the DS BFF.

Jeanne, It was so nice of you to make the original shirt for Hunter. We liked them so much I made them for the others. Thank you again.

Linnette helped me with this dress and we got it done in an evening. After a few adjustments. Don't make this with a ribbed knit top, it doesn't work well as you can see.

Except at Halloween, adults are not permitted to wear costumes in the parks- small children may, and I forget the age cut off but it is young - like 9 or so - it is posted near security.

Good luck!

Oh, don't worry. I have seen many people in custom disney outfits at DLR. It is no problem at all, and quite frankly is darling! You daughter will get lots of positive attention, and it is whatever makes you happy, other than the "costume" rule for adults wich I think is what OP was talking about.

Do post pictures because it is fun to see what others have done. Myself, I don't sew, so no customs for us. I do make matching tshirts though!

Your outfits sound cute. Dont be worried you spent this the time to make them. So where them. I see kids where princess dresses all the time. And yours sounds like you wont look weird at all.

Have fun!!!!

I think all those outfits sound adorable. I know my kids would be thrilled to wear them. As for your outfits, I have no clue about the costume rules and whether the outfits you made for yourself would be considered a costume or clothing. I mean, obviously the shirts and capris ard just cute clothing, but the snow white dress and pirate skirt sounds like it could go either way. I'm betting it would be fine. It isn't like you are going to mistaken for a CM. And I wouldn't worry about whether people wear custom outfits or not. You guys will look awesome and I'm sure everyone will be jealous. I sew a little and have been trying to come up with something I can do for my girls. They are only young once and I know they would love to go to DLR in themed clothing.

My DD2 wears Disney tutus I make her around Disneyland all the time. She absolutely loves pointing out all the other kids dressed up in Disney outfits, from Princesses to Pirates. I think it's part of the fun of DL to get all decked out and show your spirit!
Did you post pics here yet?

I don't see many people wearing outfits like that at DLR, but on the other hand, if you're there very early in the morning, your chances of being chosen to open a park rise astronomically.

And I don't think they would fall under the costume rules...you're not dressing the adult-for-ticketing-and-rule-purposes (11 yo) LIKE one of the princesses, it's just a theme.

Our DD3 wears her customs when we go. I say go for it, have fun! The pictures will be great!:thumbsup2

This is just the start and there is more!

DS at WDW in pirate shirt.

I just got back from the city and am going to start to finish up the outfits. I will post more tomorrow. Thanks for the support. We are going to wear customs.

Your work is beautiful! I love those skirts.....especially the red and black pirate one! :) And your DS's outfit is great!

Wow I think those are wonderful and wish I had the time to make clothes like that. I Would so wear them :thumbsup2
I read on micechat they were talking about in the 50's and 60's people would actually wear their good clothes to the park. You know instead of jeans and shorts etc.
They were talking about making a unofficial dress-up day. I think it would be wonderful! More people should dress up ( not costumes ) but nice clothes and custom clothes :)

I have a had a lot of fun making custom stuff for our last several trips. I say go for it! We have never felt out of place and have got plenty of positive attention from CM's & other guests. I've actually had several people ask where we got certain things, and then asked if I'd be willing to make it for them. :)

Here are a few pics I had in photobucket.

Your customs are just wonderful! I am almost done with my snow white T shirt dress. I did 4 applique shirts and have 1 more to go. I am also doing the Capri with the red dot cuff and red dot belt. That is tomorrow evening and then if I have time, I want to make a kimono style dress shirt for the little girl.

I will post once I get all the outfits together and done.

Again, I love your customs. Please come visit us on the family section Disboutique!

Wow MinnieVanMom & 8gr8mouseketeers, your customs look so awesome! You are both so talented & creative. :thumbsup2

Beautiful and amazing!!! I am so impressed with your talents! I wish the Disney designers would take a hint from you guys and start making cute, original clothes again!

Oh my goodness, those are terrific! I might have to look into making some Mickey head shirts (not talented enough to make anything fancier than that). Wow.

Those are all soooooooooooo cute!!!!! Love them!!!! I wish I had time to do that....I miss it!!
