I'm thinking of booking this for 3 days next year, in the middle of our 3 week holiday.

A few questions:
Has anyone done this?
What are the inside cabins like (trying to keep costs down)?
Where do you park the car?
Is it ok to leave the villa unattended for 3 days?
Will a 12 year old & 6 year old like it?

OR.... should I use the money to upgrade our flights to PE??

Without a doubt, Disney Cruise Line. PE will last for no more than 12 hours and leave no lasting memories. The DCL will last for 3 days and will definately leave lasting memories.

I haven't been on a 3 day cruise but did do a 7 day one. We were in a Cat 9 cabin. We only went in there to sleep!!! You can leave the car at the terminal for a nominal fee. Your kids will LOVE the cruise.

I say, GO FOR IT!!

Your kids will love it. Mine are 12 and 10 and they had a great time. The kids program is excellent and the ships are just beautiful. We spent quite a bit of time relaxing in the adult's only area as our kids didn't want to leave the Kids club.
You can park the car right at the cruise terminal - it is signposted when you get there. Really easy to find.
The cabins on Disney are very spacious compared to other cruise lines. We had an outside balcony cabin but the inside ones are the same size just no balcony. There was plenty of room for 4 of us.
If you are leaving the villa that is fine but just let the management company or owner know what you're doing so they don't worry about you or think you've gone home early.

Hi Sarah

It's another vote for a Disney Cruise here, we're about to go on our third cruise and we love it. We've never had an inside room, but I believe that all the rooms are a pretty good size, and like staying at WDW, you only sleep and change in there as there is so much to do. My DD's are 14 and 12 and this year they are going to join in the kids clubs.

If you would like to read about my previous cruises, you will find it on

I think you've talked me into it. Now I just need to break it to hubby!!!

Thanks for all you help everyone.

I haven't done a Disney cruise but have done 8 cruises to date, the most recent one last month. I have to disagree about only using the cabin for sleeping and dressing. We actually use our cabin quite a lot. We watch television, read and sit on the balcony to get away from the hoards on the sun/pool decks and have some peace and quiet.

Personally, we have only ever had an inside cabin on one night party nights and despite the fact that they are usually a similar size to outside cabins, to us the lack of natural light made them feel extremely claustrophobic.

Thanks Gill, that's certainly worth bearing in mind. I'll have to cost up the options.

My only concern about booking the cruise is that we're going on holiday in August & I'm worried about hurricanes, having been caught in one on the West Coast of Florida on our honeymoon! At least we were in a hotel then and not at sea!!

We had an inside cabin in Dec on the 3 night cruise - no probs. We did only sleep & change there, but as long as only 1 of youwanted to use the bathroom at a time, no probs! - too much to do & not enough time! Kids club - big thumbs up. DD stayed there whilst we did a self guided walk around Nassau. When you arrive, you drop your party & bags at the departure place, the porters steal your bags, you go park & then meet your party. You pay $10/day (in advance) & the carpark is opposite the terminal. We enjoyed it somuch we are booked for 7 nights next summer...in hurricane season!

thanks for the info Celestine, what dates are you doing the cruise next year? We fly out on 12th August for 3 weeks.

We fly our 21/8 & cruise from 26/8 & fly back just in time for start of term on 4/9. I would love 3 weeks out there, but I think that will be an empty nester retirement job, in which case I'll make it 6 months!

You've got plenty of votes already but I couldn't resist adding mine too :)

The Cruise!

Hi

We've recently returned from a 3 day cruise on the Wonder and we had my DS 12 and my DD 5. Trust me, eventhough you may like the idea of a window / porthole / balcony, it will not be worth the extra money because you will NOT spend that much time in there!
However, saying this, we were upgraded to a category 8 with a large window. Eventhough, the view is 98% sea !

Disney is made for children and on their cruise we all become children!

Once you have done one cruise with Disney, you will be wanting more and if necessary would make the sacrifice by sitting on an Virgin economy orange box!!!
