We just got back from the 7 day Magic.....and we all are hooked on cruising. Personally, I'd rather do this cruise than Disney World. Yes, it is comparing apples to mangoes. :D However, we came back more rested & happier than on any other vacation. If you want to see characters....you're told where and when. If you want to do nothing.....you're in the right place. If you want to be busy every minute of the day.....it can be done. Fabulous vacation. I think one of the nicest things is that we weren't concerned with what our entertainment/food cost because it was all-inclusive. There was no "ordering cheap" because we were strapped for cash. There were more nights that someone in our group tried multiple entrees than I can count. One night, I couldn't decide between all 4 desserts....so our waiter "blessed me" with all 4!:D :D Go, Go, Go!

These boards are one of the best resources you will ever find. I also recommend Dave's website at www.dcltribute.com and my website at www.castawayclub.com
You'll also want to check out Mickey's Magical Cruise Guide...I can never remember the link, but I think both Dave and I have it on our websites.
Have fun!

I'm sorry but at $35 for soda on a 7 day cruise that is not all-inclusive. That is nickle and diming you into the poor house. $35 worth of soda is almost 40 two liter bottles at $.89 each, which is what we pay. Who is getting the benefit here? Disney! Soda should be free, all soft drinks should be free!

We are not big soda drinkers, but the soda at dinner time is included in the price. My kids had no problem doing ice water during the day from the fountain on deck 9. That quenched their thirst in the sun better than soda anyhow.:)

You can also bring your own soda, juice, and alcohol on board, so beverage prices aren't much of a concern. Of course I will have to have a few of those little umbrella drinks :D . Disney isn't the only cruise line to charge for beverages. We have been on 3 other lines and have always paid for drinks.

Hubby and I went on the 7-night Disney Magic last January to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had an absolutely fantastic time!! The only bad thing? Getting off the ship after it was over...boo hoo!! We are still "kids at heart" and always enjoy going to Disneyworld so we didn't hesitate to book a Disney cruise, and we were not disappointed. We booked a verandah room and it was well worth the extra cost. We are booked on the Magic again for next January (Western itinerary this time) and we're already counting down the days until we can step foot on the ship again for another glorious week of fun 'n sun! :D Yes, there is a charge for soda during the day, but it's free with dinner. I'm a big Diet Coke fanatic and I didn't purchase the refillable mug as I thought it was too expensive. I enjoyed a couple glasses of Diet Coke with dinner, then the rest of the time drank juice, coffee and iced tea, didn't bother me a bit. Last time we booked through a local travel agent but we had heard so many good things about Dreams Unlimited so we booked this next cruise through them. If you decide to do a Disney cruise I'm sure you won't be disappointed!!

I always snicker when people bring up the soda issue as a reason to book or not to book.

The majority of the posts will advise you to go on DCL. We are skipping WDW. WDW can be costly. My idea of a vacation is rest, relaxation and not driving. Food is wonderful, anything you desire, you probably can find.

Don't think about the $$ up front. When you go on DCL you CAN get away with spending very little. If you didn't want to spend a penny you'd have a challenge. But, you can do it. Everything is included. Early Booking will get you the best bang for your buck. Read the posts and do your homework. AAA has great discounts as well as Dreams Unlimited! Each saves you more $$ than DCL. Save money up front so you can spend on your vacation. :)

I seem to be getting more responses here than at my other post so I will ask the question again. Has anyone with a large family (2 adults 4 kids under 13) done the 7 day Disney Cruise, and what is the most economical way to do it? I do not want to spend $10,000 on a vacation. We would like to go next March (2003).

Thanks.

I booked thru AAA and the $35 soda mug is free to us for booking thru AAA. I'm not a big soda drinker but my DH is. The soda mug offer is good for anyone booking thru AAA for a 2002 Disney Cruise.

bobaloo000~ We are not traveling with 6 passengers but I can tell you it's alot cheaper to go in the off season. We are traveling Feb. 2nd, this is the last week before peak season rates kick in. We are going with 2 more familys and being off season with the Sunshine Sailaway promo they had this year we are paying about $2300.00 per cabin not including airfare. We have the Cat. 10 Secret Porthole Cabins on deck 5 and they do have connecting rooms. Hope that helps.

These rooms are located on deck 5 and are sold as Cat. 10 inside cabins because the view from the porthole is obstructed. To book them you need to request the Cat. 10 rooms on deck 5(They are the only Cat. 10 rooms on deck 5) Check out incognitos sight she has pictures of all the "Secret Porthole Rooms"www.castawayclub.com
