Disney Cruise in December 2020

Have they been paying these performers for the last 7 months?
Nope! Which is why an assumption of getting all of the cast back intact is risky to start with. The performers were some of the early repatriations, because they tended to be from English-speaking countries (US, Canada, Australia) with easier repatriation processes.

I wonder how much of the crew will want to come back after what they've been through. I'm sure a lot of them have moved on to something else.

Not sure many of the performers have, simply because stage performance in the places many of them come from are shut down. Theater has been very hard hit even regionally. DCL production gigs are felt to be desirable as it gives some of the performers a better shot at national and touring productions of some of the full-stage Disney shows.

Our cruise is the November 30th one. We are heading south after Thanksgiving, either directly to the cruise or Vero Beach. I would prefer the cruise, but my head says it will be Vero.

In this economy? It seems more likely that most of them are hoping to be rehired by DCL once it reopens.

I wonder if they were able to get unemployment (for the US people) as gig workers? I know early in unemployment this year, it was the first time gig workers got unemployment.

Performers on DCL are not classified as gig workers legally.

A lot of the performers are from the U.S., actually. And economies around the world have also suffered from virus restrictions.
I said crew not performers. The crew is from all over the globe.
