It looks like some of the dcl vr cakes that are pictured on the boards is fondant? I hope im right:(:(

mine had fondant!!

It actually didn't taste bad..I only took a few bites of the fondant to see what it tasted like, but it was really good!

Well that's good to know! :thumbsup2

Jennifer, I hope they can do one of your ideas for your cake! I can't wait to see it! :goodvibes

they did do something I hadn't seen before..they marbled the fondant with some green so it wasn't just white

yeha i think all the DCL cakes are covered with fondant so that shouldn't be an issue.

My cake was fondant, but I was told they only do the basic cakes listed in the planning packet. They do have a square cake now but when it come out Cathy told me to be hush hush about it because it hasn't been approved. I don't think that there is ONE pastry chef onboard. I think they must teach all of them the few basic designs and then they perfect them. I would rather have a cake that looks good then one that the try to do differant and then it looks like crap. I mean what if they mess it up, you complain and they tell you too bad, we told you we could only do cake 1, 2 & 3. I just wouldn't get your hopes up in the cake department, they have shot down many many brides. They really don't even have a book to pick from, you tell them you want something and you get whatever they want you to have. I told them I wanted Betsy's cake and included a picture. I told them the only differance is I want Pink where her green is.

This is my Cake:

As you can see they aren't even close!

So i'm trying to determine if i want the invitations sent out before we sail...or jsut wait and have them delivered onboard. We sent out the STD and everyone is already booked now...so i know they are coming. And I think if i were to send the invites with all the important information pertaining to the day...they'd forget it and i would still have a million questions to answer. It just seems easier to have an invite delivered to the cabin the night before telling everyone where to meet up and about the reception and dinner....no one will forget and bother me...right??? :scratchin

I like the Idea of giving them out on board...and Jennifer they will bother the heck out of you! LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl2: They will, you ar ethe go to girl for EVERYTHING!

Since it's only going to be one couple travelling with us, I'm hoping to have an invitation delivered to them during dinner one eveing at WDW prior to the cruise (hopefully a character dinner like 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella and her stepmother and stepsisters)...I made the invite with some help of other Disbrides...

Since DF is wearing a black tux with an aqua tie, the background is an aqua cardstock...with a white center that reads...

It is with excitement and joy
that we
Me and DF

Invite you to celebrate

on Friday August 21

over that I have a square of veleum (sp?) with Mickey and Minnie back on watching the fireworks, and

over that I have another square of veleum that says (in disney font)

your dreams come true.

Nothing too fancy, but I'm pleased with it.

i am lucky..my bridesmaid RJ took up the "where do we go" with everyone..she is a WAY better planner than I am!!!

Lisa - While I LOVED my cake, I think yours looks WAYY neater than mine did..Mine was starting to melt because we didn't eat it right away..they had us take pictures then moved the cake into the cooler until dessert

I really liked having the invites sent to their rooms. Everyone that was coming already knew aboutit, it was just a nice touch.

We had a square cake, with fondant, all white frosting...thought it looked pretty good, and it tasted fabulous....

1 year ago today, I was sitting on the beaches of St. Martin thinking about Pirate night!!!!!!!!!!

Hi DCL VR Brides!! DH and I are celebrating our 10th next year:cheer2: and are in the very early planning stages for an anniversary celebration. One of the ideas we're considering is a DCL vow renewal. The other idea is to do a second honeymoon land-only trip to WDW w/o dd. If we did the land-only trip we most likely wouldn't do a vow renewal because even the Escape option is more than what we want to spend.

Sooo, I was hoping you ladies could help answer a few logistical questions about a DCL VR for me to help in our decision making.

If we go it'd just be the two of us and our little girl, who will be just turning 5 at the time. Our DD would be there for the ceremony and cake, but then I'm wondering about the photos. We'd want some photos with her, of course, but then some around the ship with just the two of us (we'd plan to get the VR photo package). Since we'd be alone, I don't want to be doing that sideways "mom" glance in the pictures (do you know what I mean? like I'd be looking off to the side to make sure that she's not getting into mischief!). If we added an extra hour onto the photog's time, do you think we'd have time to run her down to the kids club after the cake/toast/etc. so we can get some formal shots around the ship alone? Would that just be terribly awkward and ruin the flow of the event?

Another downside to being alone--no friends/family to take pictures and video with our camera. Do you think it'd be possible to set up our video camera on a tripod to catch the event? Is there anyone there from the crew that would be able to take snapshots with our camera? Or maybe we need to find some Dis'ers beforehand that are on our sailing and see if they want to come to our VR:rotfl::rotfl:.

Thanks, ladies, for any and all help and info.:goodvibes

HI! I think you would have plenty of time to take her to the kids club. They walk you all over the ship for pictures, it wouldn't be a problem. Also if you sign up for the thread of cruisers who will be there at the same time as you and I bet one of them would take some pictures for you. There is alos disney employees who would take some, I know one of the other VR brides had this. We had a tripod set up and it wasn't a problem at all. Disney will work with you to make is great!!!

I'm on the cruise meets thread for our Sailing and i'm hoping that as we get closer to the sailing, I can rope someone into taking some pictures and maybe video of our VR. And I agree with Lisa, you should have plenty of time to run DD to the kids club while taking pictures.

the only potential problem i could see would be if you do the ceremony on Castaway Cay. Are there counselors on the ship during that time? I know they have lots of activites running on the island while you are in port....if you wanted pics of her on the ship with you, you'd have to run back to the island to drop her off....that would eat up a lot of your time.

I was one that made new friends through our cruise thread and invited them to 'share' in our celebration (to take pics and help eat some of that cake). It was really nice to have some extra pics in addition to the professional ones.

Thank you Goldeelox9, 29apr00 and pjstevens for the quick replies!!! I would :lovestruc :lovestruc:lovestruc to do the cermony on Castaway Cay (especially after reading Goldeelox9's beautiful TR) but instead I think we would use that money to to hire a photog for a photo session at our WDW resort the day before the cruise. That extra $1000 could pay for the photog, hair, flowers for that. I was horribly disappointed in the pictures we got from our wedding. I still, 9 years later, remember how my stomach sank when I opened up the proofs for the first time and saw that there was not one single good shot of the two of us alone:sad1:. So, getting some really nice photos this time around is a big thing for me, kwim?

Thanks again for your help, I hope I won't be a pest with too many questions. You gals are the best!!

We are the best....Just kidding....We are really happy to help so ask as many questions as you can come up with. When we all started planning finding other cruise brides was hard. They were few and far between. I think we all are happy to be here helping new brides on thier quest for information!!

We had our 7 y.o. with us, and we had pictures with all of us, and then had a chance to run him over to the kids club and met the photographer to have some shots with just us. They were very accomodating. I can't see why they wouldn't let you set up a video...also, you will have your coordinator there, so she should be able to help in some fashion if you find no fellow disers to help (I can't imagine there wouldn't be someone; we are a friendly type) We had ours in Sessions, and there were staff members setting up the bar for later, and I am certain you could have them take some shots.

Cheryl

Everyone that came to our ceremony were dis'ers that we met in 2005 on the boards.. You will find someone who will be excited to help!!

Thanks chepic! Sounds like you did exactly what we'd want to do so I'm relieved to hear that it's do-able.:goodvibes
