Just wanted to know is the unofficial guide to Disney cruise 2018 addition worth the money. Also I've read that early 2018 the Disney Magic could be going to dry dock (booked Nov 2018 on the Magic) does anyone have any idea what might changed or done while in dry dock. Thanks

If you are new to cruising, I think any guide book can provide you with valuable information. Since the 2018 book is not out yet, I can only comment on the book I bought in 2011 and say that I thought it was useful to me.
As for the dry dock, it is my understanding it is for routine maintenance, such as painting, carpeting, ect.

Thank you very much for the info, MalaficentRn I see your cruising 1yr, from now are you cruising the same cruise as me & my family? (Disney Magic NY round trip November 10-17, 2018).

We are new to cruising, and I checked out the 2017 book from the library. I got quite a bit out of it, and if anything feel like I am overprepared for the trip. The "magic" for me is in knowing what I'm missing and being ok with that.

If you're being frugal check with your local library and see how recent their copies are. You'd be surprised how often they update their tourbook type stuff. Both books I was looking for (we're also doing Universal) were dated 2017.

Yes! Can't wait! I've been on three other Disney cruises, one of those out of NYC, and I still ordered the Unofficial Guide 2018 book. You can never get too much information. ;)

We are cruising Feb of 2018 and I bought the Unofficial 2017 guidebook. I have been on the two smaller ships but our next is on the Dream so I enjoyed reading what was the same and what was different. Since this will be a short trip (3 night over Presidents Day Weekend) I wanted to make sure we were not missing out on "must do's".

The Unofficial guidebook is my favorite. I also have a couple of Passporters and a couple of Official guidebooks.
I find the Unofficial guidebook up to date and very comprehensive.
