Just curious as we are fairly new to Disney. Are there discounts offered through the Disney credit card that are not available to the general public? If a discount comes out, can you apply for the credit card and immediately book with the discount?

If there is no annual fee for the card you have nothing to lose. I ahvent looked into it, so I dont know.

Don't use the discounts all that much, but we use the Disney credit card for lots of big $$$ expenses-- things that we actually have the cash to pay for--but since we put the big expenses on the card & get the cash rewards $$ on our rewards card it ends up being extra $$ to spend at Disney:thumbsup2 For example, DD is in college -- we save up the money to pay the bill, but we put her dorm room & board expenses on the Disney Visa (and pay it off as soon as we get the bill) but $6000 year room and board gives us a nice array of adult beverages at Epcot World Showcase courtesy of rewards card $$. Best part is, we can call Disney Visa from the park & load the rewards card over the phone.

Sounds smart! Can you use the rewards to pay for part of your hotel or tickets? Is there a website that has more rewards info?

We use our Disney Visa for EVERYTHING!!!! We pay the cable bill, the phone bill, groceries..... you name it! We have about $280 and we just got ours last October. We are planning on using the "points" toward our resort stay in October. The trick is that you HAVE to pay it off every month or you pay more in fees that you get in points. There are a lot of perks as well.... I got 45% off tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. :cool1::cool1:

I got mine for the discounts when we decided to go to WDW. When the last deal came out we actually moved our dates to take advantage. We have 2 kids the right age for the Kids Stay & Play free and we got their tickets and DDP for free.

That alone saved us over $500

do you travel to wdw a lot?
do you have small kids and /or like to get some 1on 1 time with the characters during a private meet and greet photo op? ( 1 free photo with use of Disney visa rewards card or debit card)
do you want free financing on some of your trips for wdw?
If you like those benefits those are some of the ones available to you as a disney visa card holder.

We had opened up a Chase checking and choose a Disney Debit card. While the point system in lower(1 pt for every $200), I think it will work better since I'm bad at paying off credit card balances.

OP: if you are going to get the card, check around for promos first. I was recently offered the $150 in rewards for the card. That offer was sent to our home. I had gotten the $200 offer a while back, read the offer and it stated that previous card holders were exempt, THEN found here on DIS that even though I already had a card, I could STILL apply but had already thrown out the offer. Called Chase, after about 2 weeks, got a sorry, we cannot re-offer that offer. I was so angry and frustrated.
Then , Chase sent a new offer for $150. I had dh apply (he also has the card already. he got Denied  We both freaked out, as we knew we have great credit...the denial said that he recently opened another credit card (then we realized he did, for a SW visa (we got FREE R/T tix for THAT one, $59 fee, though still very worth it for us) and it is also thru Chase. What we neglected to do was notice that they gave him 25K in credit for that card and we really only got it for the free flight, just about 5 weeks ago. SO, I ran a credit check/score to be sure, and his score is 822 :woohoo: so we feel good about that and :confused3 about why they would not give him another.
SO, I applied and got the card last week, one purchase, WaahLa 150. in rewards to add to our 250+ we already have from other cards :cheer2:
Meanwhile, I also got in on that free $25. DVC promo on board...
So READING the DIS SAVES you $$$$.
I never would have applied for the 2nd, NO fee Disney Visa had I not read it here.
What I will say is, I pay it off before I am even billed and have no cc debt (as I refuse to pay anyone interest ;) They also send out 3 or 5times rewards, I got the 3x and that also adds up.
Chase also sent along that $100.00 Cash reward for opening a bank account for 6 mos....that was another no brainer once again as the interest everywhere is so darn low, I just pulled $, (5K minimum) and threw it into Chase and got another $100...So THIS month, Chase has paid ME $275. plus another accumulated $250 (and counting) on our rewards card. Can you SEE me dancing with JOY :cheer2::cheer2:
THEN I also learned on the DIS (HUGE shout out to "loveswdw":flower3: )that Delta Skymiles (we had SO many accumulated) can be used for Hotels and we can Literally get POR for 4 nites FREE and a stay at MCO/HYAtt as well, FREE, so we're figuring that ALL out....with a current pkg, I loathe to change it all up.....may save it for another trip.....

OH, to keep it all in perspective mind you, today I visit the "new" specialist" dentist who has to do a root canal and I ran out of my dental insurance, so this morning $750. I am not really looking forward to spending  or the Dentist since my last few weeks have been spent in a dentist chair But THANKFUL I have that money and just want to be DONE with the dentist and SOON!!
So, I digress :flower3: (I really think this dentist thing is stressing me out :rotfl2: :sad2:)

Look around to see what Offers Chase Offers before applying to perhaps get some FREE rewards money Just for applying. Good Luck...I think over on DVC board is $100 free offer???:confused3 Ask around, you did not have to be a dvc member??? :confused3 Good Luck!!!! :wizard:

My husband & I each have one, and neither have an annual fee. We use them for everything - and then pay them off, and charge other stuff- all stuff we have to buy anyhow, but at least we are earning Disney reward dollars for it! Plus you get the 6 month 0% interest vacation financing to book your trip.

One thing I didnt see mentioned... the 6 months no interest on Disney vacation packages... thats my main reason for having the card besides the points.

a1tinkfans - I got that same 3x offer from Chase & signed up for it. I can't locate the postcard that had the offer on it and I remember the categories being GAS, GROCERIES, RESTAURANTS & maybe HOTELS (?). Do you know if I pay off my entire Diseny vacation that I booked through WDW if that counts as Hotels? You must have $1000 in charges in the specific categories combined every month to even start earing 3x. Just curious, as it would be worth it to pay off the vacation now if I was going to get the extra Disney $.

I use my card all of the time and then use the points to pay tips on meals and for anythingI buy. It saves me a lot of money

I too use my card for as much as I possibly can i.e gas, groceries, etc. I pay it off every month and have accumulated 150 points since last August. I am hoping to get up to 500 points by the time we take our next trip! No annual fee for me plus I have gotten a few discount offers for cardmembers.

OP: if you are going to get the card, check around for promos first. I was recently offered the $150 in rewards for the card. That offer was sent to our home.

You all have convinced me this is worthwhile. Now, I just need to find a good offer, to make the most of my application.
