Good heavens. The OP asked if those that celebrate Christmas would object to Disney closing on Christmas. She didn't ask if Christmas is celebrated on the correct date, or if trees and Santa have anything to do with Jesus, or what to do about those that don't celebrate Christmas.

99.9% of all Christians know that Jesus was not born in December. And most know that it was originally a Pagen holiday, blah, blah, blah. And? So what?
December 25th is the day that was chosen by someone (I don't care who) to be the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Period. So, that's the day we celebrate it. Why, oh why do so many need to come up with this lame excuse of "its not the day he was born" to put down those that celebrate this day?

As for how would He feel? Give me a break. If we can take that one day of the year and think about someone other than ourselves and be with family and show a bit of love to our fellow man--He is rejoicing. It never was about Him--remember why he died?????

Give you a break about how Jesus feels......uuhhhhmmmm, okay?:confused3 I think its great to think about other people for sure. However, when you look at the behavior of people on the day leading up to showing love for their fellowman(for only one day out of 365) I don't think Jesus would approve. Last year a poor Walmart worker was trampeled to death because of people supposedly getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus by buying presents for people....I will agree with you about one thing and that is his death is very important and significant. That is why I do commenerate that once a year, however, I do so without chocolate bunnies, etc. as that has nothing to do with him dying for mankind. Also, I thought since this was a community board that anyone could answer the poll. As some have pointed out it is very narrowminded to assume just because you celebrate a holiday and shut down for the day doesn't mean we all do. I was stating how I was glad that Disney World, Walmart, movies, dining establishments are open on Christmas just as I am sure that those of Jewish faith, Buddhists, etc. are too. Also, I was not the one who listed the origin of Christmas but was just agreeing with it. Oh and speaking of showing love for your fellowman my hubby was just up your way on Monday working from 3 in the morning until 12 noon putting in the kitchen up at the Extreme Home Makeover house. He was so happy to be part of that!

edited out because I think I may have violated board rules with this response. sorry

That would be Easter. ;)

I am Christian. I celebrate Christmas. I do not, and would not support or be happy if Disney closed on Christmas.
