We are trying to do some unit studies on the countries around the World Showcase and would like to find out what Disney characters come from each country. (My DD is in K) Is there a list out there anywhere? Or could some people help me compile a list by country so we can read those stories as we study about the country?
Thanks so much!
Crystal

I don't know if this helps-but in red are the Characters that currently appear in those countries.

could you do Italy for Lady and the Tramp? Takes place in USA but the famous Italian restaurant is memorable...

Obviously the Lion King characters are the savannahs of Africa.

I've always thought Cinderella took place in France (as well as Beauty and the Beast). I think Sleeping Beauty is Germany.

Disney has some themed country story books I used with the kids when they were younger. They are a series--Disney's Small World Library. Titles such as "Goofy Takes Off: An Adventure in Switzerland" and "Donald and the Troll: An Adventure in Norway" and "The Runaway Kite: An Adventure in Japan."

Hope it helps!

Both of these are a help.
I'll have to look for that book series!

Let me take a stab ... (and I mention who is a meet-and-greet character there)

Mexico - Panchito from The 3 Caballeros is from Mexico - sort of an obscure character, but he was meetable at one time

Norway - ?

China - Mulan characters (Mulan, Mushu are meetable)

Germany - Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs (Snow White and Dopey meet)

Italy - Pinocchio

USA - Pocahontas

Japan - ?

Morocco - Aladdin characters meet here (Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie) but I don't think the movie took place there

France - Beauty and the Beast; Ratatouille; Sleeping Beauty; Hunchback of Notre Dame; The Aristocats; Cinderella. Aurora, Belle and Beast are the common characters here

United Kingdom - Alice in Wonderland; Mary Poppins; Sword in the Stone. Alice, Mary Poppins, and Pooh characters meet here

Canada - Brother Bear

I'm sure there are many other movies, as I just am remembering this off the top of my head! :teeth:

Wendy, her brothers, and Peter, plus the 101 dalmations are from the UK.
Aristocats are French (except Tomas O'malley)
Stitch lives in Japan on the spin off with a new girl.
Mickey/Minnie, Lilo, and the Frog Princess are US.
Africa is the Lion King.

A friend of mine bought me a couple of DVDs from Wal-Mart called "It's a Small World of Fun!" The first has the following cartoons:

Mickey Down Under (Australia)
A Cowboy Needs a Horse (USA)
The Flying Gauchito (S. America)
Goliath II (India)
In Dutch (Holland)
African Diary (Africa)
Grievance of a Starmaker (Japan)

Some include traditional Disney characters, but some of them are regular cartoons.

The second volume contains cartoons from Russia, Greece, Egypt, USA, Argentina, and Great Britain.
